So, im new here, and i joind because i bought the game like a weak ago. Ive played some other final fantasy games (VII-VII-X and Tactics) But this is totaly new and i just love it, theres no more to it. SHame i dont have much time to play it...
The thing is, so far in the game i have two questions that i hope some one can answer.
First, the stones the the fiends drop are usefull for something? or i can just sell them all?
And second... (i may spoil the game here so if you just start you are worned!) Im heading to the kings tumb to get a prof of ashes right to the throne, beyond the sandsea. This muggle told me that if i deafetat a tortoide i could claim a tresure, i did but i have no idea were it is, can anyone help me?

Thanks!

PS: Sorry for the gramar mistakes, im from argentina and im still learning.

loot.. just sell it. Sell everything htat drops from baddies. I've done it.

Second.. your spelling is atrocious, but I totally understand it's a second language and god bless you for being multilingual.

Second I just got reunited with Balthier and Fran and I'm on my way to save Penelo and Ashe. SO... There are a few marks there. You have to go the town that starts with a B.. talk to the guy that sent in the petition.. then he'll send you off to where the mark is. (tortoise) That isn't much help, but beyond that you should get hte guide. Also.. have you been spending much time getting your quickenings? If not you really should.

No this isnt a mark, you just bump into it in the game, and these little cratures that i cant remember there weard name are fighting it.
And about the quickenings, i have no idea how to use them, so if you could explain it to me it would be great.

thanks man.

This game is pretty long, u get ur moneys worth. I havnt beaten it yet but, im 5 hours into the game and ive barley begun to scratch the surface of the game. (maybe because im underground in some place under the palace) (joke)..

Anyway, so far its pretty good, the license system is a bit confusing, cuz im not sure what to get and what not to get but overall games 5/5 so far.

Garamond.. seriously.. go away.. omfg.. why are you even on these forums. Do you even play FF games?

ANYWAY cloudlao, i may not have gotten as far as you. I just got done with Ghis, and I have no idea how i beat that son of a bitch. I started off with everyone in the red.. busted a quickening that took him down to just 25% health with one go, and then nearly got my ass handed ot me there at the end. I was running away.. turned around and smacked him on his nose, next thing I knew i won the fight... wtf? haha BTW.. quickenings rock. I explained it a bit on the other thread.

Liscense board can be overwhelming. Especially when they make you get crap you don't need so that you can get crap you DO need. I made a B-line for the quickenings first for the most part and equipment stuff. Spells of course as well.

Penelo is Vaan's friend. Iono...with how the story is going so far I can't see them two getting together. She's so snobby and .. doesn't even seem to want to be in the same group as Vaan.

I already explained quickenings in one of cloudlau's other threads. But basically quickening is the limit break attacks of FFVII. But since they take up all yoru MP, you can keep chaining and chaining until you run out of time. It's kinda played like a slot machine. THe goal is to get different combinations between the different characters to create a concurrence, which is a bombastic finishing move.

ok, thats new. Maybe its a love-hate type of thing maybe. It would be funny if Vaan's love interest was going to be Fran though.

Ok, i got vaans quickening.. but when i use it nothing comes up, and i cant chain like u said.. what buttons do i push to chain??

Gilthanos
11-02-2006, 03:15 AM
well if you only have one quickening then you're not really gonna be able to chain it. You have to get more characters with more quickenings. You'll see their names below on the right hand corner. When you see their name light up, press the corresponding button. If no one's name is lit up, then press R2 to spin the "slot wheel."

Hmm... I think... (I'll try not to spoil the game.) after you beat that thing (Tortoise) come back and speak with the moogle, then go back to... I can't remember the name... Just go back from where you found the moogle (Many buildings there) climb up a stair and an event will occur. Go back to where you found the moogle to see the event (If I'm not mistaken). After that, you will find an item where you found the moogle and a save crystal. This Item is useful for later use. Keep it and use it when you need it.

Gambits are different from Quickening. Gambits are more likely your 'auto-command' or your strategy in battle. Quickenings are more likely your Limit Break in FF VIII and Trance in FF IX.

Penelo or Ashe???
I'm curious as you are...
Let me finish the game first. But, that would be a spoiler. Nah, I think I'll Leave it to Vaan to decide n_n.

I don't know if all the questions have been answered, but i'll take my opinion on both just in case.

The first: Loot, almighty loot... there are somethings you can sell without worrying, like stones, pebble, arcanas, etc, and some other things that some characters ask you for later in the game, like giant serpentskin, that you MUST NOT SELL or you'll loose some special things. The best advice I can give you: SELL EVERYTHING BUT ONE UNIT OF EVERY LOOT ITEM.

About the second question, you must go to the moogle, he'll say something about the giant tortoise that's over the north-western part of the desert if I recall correctly, and once you beat it you must return where the moogle was, then walk back to where you came from in the first place, where the oil tower is (the moogle tells you where to go) and GO UP THE TOWER to trigger the scene in which you see the little guy running, then follow him and see a cutscene that gives you just some shitty item.

Anyway, I'm from Chile, so saludos a los hermanos argentinos, espero que disfruten el juego, cualquier duda me preguntan ;)

Ghis is easy, if you plan it right. The first Daemon Wall (I think that's the name), the one that you can run away from, now that's hard, and wait till you have to chase the trickster (lv. V mark) (I don't think this is a spoiler since it's just a mark and it's optional)

SELL EVERYTHING BUT ONE UNIT OF EVERY LOOT ITEM.

Well thats what ive done until now. And i agree, its the best option.

Now im in the wall part. I cant kill it. And im not shure if im using the quickenings right. I cant make them use it more than one time each character.

Hey maybe I can help explain a few things. Claudlao if your people only have one mist charge then they can only have one turn in a quicking. Also mist charges are based on mp. If you look at your mp gadge and it is still blue that means that that person has used some of his or her mp and has broken their mist charge, therefore they can not perticapate in a quickening unless either they get a mist charge through a quickening started by another person or they regain mp. This problem never goes away during the game but the more quickening each person has the more mist charge they have thus making it easier for each person in your current battle party to participate in a quickening. It helps so much in the game when your people have their quickenings. Some of my people have all three and I can deal 10,000+ damage. Need less to say this makes boss battles infinitly easier. Oh and by the way my people are only around level 16 and I am only 10 hours into the game. That's a great deal of damage for so early on in the game. Try to master your quickenings as soon as possible to help you along in battles. If you need to know something else I will try to use what knowledge I have to answer you.

I'm sure Ghis was extremely easy, but considering that i went into the battle with one person dead, another in the red, and the third half life after trekking through the alarmed out leviathan... I wasn't ready to fight a judge. I quickly rezed, healed and unleashed my, then, most powerful quickening ever which took him down to nearly dead... after that i just healed, ran, healed, and hit him like.. 3 times with regular attacks and the battle was over. I wasn't at all prepared to fight that battle.

If you run away from the first wall you can't get the Deathbringer sword (which is a sword way over powered for the areas you're in at the time) but it's a SWEET sword that gives a killer advantage if you can kill that wall. I killed with a massive quickening, switched out characters and did another massive quickening.. Toast.. end of story. My first try I got hte Deathbringer sword and now Vaan after 13 lvls still has it equipped cause it's the most powerful sword that I can acquire at this time.

dtpena
11-02-2006, 11:55 PM
I think anytime you beat the first wall you can get then the sword (To me it was the Demonsbane, don't know about deathbringer) and yes, it is a very powerful sword at that time. I used it for some hours till i got the ice sword and the axes/hammers that have that random weak attack problem, but on avg are great anyway!!

Gilthanos
11-03-2006, 02:33 AM
OH yeah.. it was the demonsbane. My bad. You only have to fight that optional wall once. YOu can keep going down there for the item though. I just haven't been able to get it a second time. I got it the first try the first time, but.. no sense to get a second one when I have someone else equipped with the bloodsword. Axe is very powerful weapon, but you're right... i really hate those random crappy hits. NO idea why that is.

I just got this game Tuesday afternoon and I have been playing it for the past 3 nights. And even the mornings. Its that good of a game because I don't play video games during the mornings I have school. Anyways, the only thing I thought was a pain was the battle system at first but I've learned to love it thanks to the gambits now. That helps me out alot. But whats with the shiny faces anyways? I've learned to ignore that also cause it disappears in the FMVs. Looks awesome even on my crappy TV. lol. Well I am 11 hours into the game cause of levelving up my license grid some, my characters lvl 15 and talked to like a million people in the beginning. Sometimes I just ran around for kicks to look around. I am taking my time playing this game. Not in any rush to complete it. Afterwards, I will probably start a 2nd game and see how fast I can beat it. So I see nothing wrong with this game that I can think of, at the moment.

I didn't buy it yet. Canada takes a little longer to release games than the US. But from the trailers I've seen the gambit system doesn't look so bad. I really like the look of the battle system in FF12. Like you said, just set gambits to heal annoying status effects or cast heal if you're under half hp and it works out fine.

Suikoden 1 was amazing--proof that simple graphics can work still make an awesome RPG. I wish I had 2 as well though

Wow.. you're lvl 34 and you don't have all quickenings yet? That's one thing i did first. I've had all 18 quickenings unlocked by the time I was lvl 11. I've also chained up to 15 quicks with most damabe being over 43000 points. That's why I love em. Ya need to get dem quicks... they can make boss battles very easy lol. I am lvl 30 right now and just got done fighting mateus.... needless to say, he didn't even touch me.
