both of those are games that looked decent to me but I think I want to try to get stuff that really takes advantage of the controller and goes for new gameplay. as opposed to adopting old gameplay to fit the new controller.

Depends if Smackdown VS Raw 2007 is out. Maybe that for the PS2 or maybe I'll get a 360 if they drop the price and then get Smackdown VS RAW 2007 for that. Madden and NBA 2K7 already came out and 2kSports does a horrible job on the MLB games, so there's really nothing except Madden 2008 which is next August.

Then again there could be that odd RPG game I buy every now and then but I don't believe there is this year. For me, at least.

Nothing else I'd want whenever the Wii launches.

We're getting a Wii and all the bells-and-whistles. Software-wise I have no idea but we'll probably snap up three or four titles; now the questions is... which ones? We have until December to decide anyway :P.

I'm pretty undecided when it comes to software as well; luckily we've got a month after the American release, so I can wait for reviews to hit IGN Wii. At the moment i'll probably be getting:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (even though I hate Zelda games, a bunch of my friends love it, so at least they'll have fun with it)
Red Steel (assuming the review doesn't suck. it could go either way)
A bunch of virtual console games, depending on what is available at launch.

Tbh, Wii Sports (the pack-in) will probably get the most play time out of all of them. Until Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Mario Galaxy come out, that is.

I also am interested in Trauma Center: Second Opinion. I'd probably get Elebits if I was getting anything, yeah. I don't really know what else. But I don't think I'm getting one at launch, unless my brothers have already preordered one without my knowledge.

Most video games simply cannot hold my attention anymore, so it would have to be something that doesn't require long sit-throughs, isn't really story or cinematics heavy, and can be gotten into immediately, but is still new and engaging to me... so basically about .001% of games made nowadays. =/

The only thing I'll be picking up on Wii launch date is Twilight Princess. I've had that game paid off for almost three years now, and I might as well get it even though I'm not getting a Wii until a couple weeks later. The stardard pack-ins and a few titles, pretty undecided, could be getting SSBB, could be getting Zelda : TP, or I could take advantage of the virtual console function and get Tales of Symphonia for it as well as a few GC games.

That is...IF I have the cash.

No pm is necessary.

You'll be incredibly lucky to find anywhere that is still offering pre-orders that will guarantee you a console on day one. There may still be some retail outlets that will take pre-order for you, but that won't be until the next shipment of Wiis. Your best bet at this point is to wait out in the freezing cold (depending where you live) for hours on hours in a big line and hope to get a Wii

Wii Console + Wii Sports $399.95
Wii Remote + Wii Play $ 79.95
Wii Nunchuck (white) $ 29.95
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess $ 99.95

-$10, 'cause the game store owner likes me. A little.

I've got $300 paid off, and i'm paying off the rest this weekend, which leaves me next fortnight to save up and get another couple of games; depending on the reviews, they'll most likely be Red Steel and Rayman.

I had to download two updates for the Wii. I think one of them was the wireless router settings, and that's expected. Don't remember what the other was. There was a few times the first few hours where my Wii wasn't connecting to my router, but I haven't had a problem with it after that.

Gears of War?

Amazing. Easily tops Halo 2 as the best console shooter. I don't think it quite tops Half-Life 2 because the levels feel very linear (unlike HL2 which was linear, but didn't feel like it) and because it doesn't require much thought, unlike HL2's devious puzzles.

But for the whole '30 seconds of fun over and over' genre that Halo belongs to, Gears is the king of the hill.

From what I've heard about the the two of them, the difference between graphics is almost unnoticable, and the only difference in gameplay is that you use the Wiimote, motion sensor. Which in my opinion, would get annoying in the normal game. I think it would be good for mini-games though.

Yeh, I still think it would get quite annoyin, after some time, swing your arms around all the time. Maybe if one of my mates gets it (the wii) or if there is a demo for it in a shop near me I'll get to try it before i spend the money on it.

Maybe. So far the reports I've heard say "it's kinda cool for aiming I guess but not particularly exciting."

Yeh, I've heard more of the same, I think it would get old. Probably good for fishing though. I saw a review that said "you could literaly play the fishing mini-game for hours."

Jeez, if you're reading reviews that say you could play fishing for hours, you need to read some that clearly state your arms won't get tired or it gets annoying. You don't swing your arms around all the time, you just flick your wrist or forearm back and forth to make Link swing. It felt like it was basic controls for me, and it hasn't felt better.

I bought a sandwich. And a wii, but that was a pretty tasty sandwich.

Seriously, I was a little disappointed with wii. Perhaps my expectations were a little high, or the release titles were somewhat lesser, I guess time'll tell with this one. It's got high potential though.

Admittedly though, Twilight princess is pretty neat.

It seems that nobody is noticing my favorite aspect of playing games with the Wiimote+nunchuk. Forget aiming. Screw flicking your wrist instead of pushing buttons. The real advantage is the comfort of it. I HATE cramping my hands together to hold a normal controller. With this set-up, I can keep my hands as far apart as I want them. It's not uncommon for me to start feeling uncomfortable after playing a PS2 game for a half hour, but I've spent several hours at a time playing Zelda without experiencing that at all.

if the most revolutionary thing about the wii is just a comfortable controller, uh, no thanks.

(that said I still haven't had a chance to try one so ~)

Did I say it was? That was just my own personal highlight. =/
