I thought this was pretty romantic, and it did bear a slight resemblance to Romeo and Juliet. Did anyone like this show?

The only thing is that in the two times the play was performed, we never DO get to see how it really ends... XD Although, of course, I have no complaints about the way it was interrupted on both counts. *cheers for Zidane* ;)

Heh-heh-heh.

Well I loved it *_* Especially at the end where Zidane is actually in the play and he says "bring my beloved Dagger to me!" it was so cute! ;_;

I adored the whole theater-play part. :D One of the best starting-sequences of a videogame. ^_^

Haven't finished the game yet, but I love the way it starts with that play. And just how crazy everything gets when Garnet winds up doing improv (it all would've gone without a hitch if only Vivi hadn't set her head on fire :P).

Hey everyone I'm new to the forums. Well anyways I agree that the whole play/kidnap idea was a really original way to start out a game.

It actually made me giggle they way Steiner thought Garnet was actually dead so he ended up playing along.

Man, I have to replay FFIX sometime because I miss it...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I really enjoyed it, but I haven't played it in a while. Some of my friends said that it wasn't good, but I thought it was an excellent addition to the Final Fantasy family.

I think square enix should have finished that. It was a great storyline, just to be interrupted 2 times... But the sword fight was FUN! :)

yes that sword fight is fun...and yes the d-pad is the trickier of the two sets of buttons, mostly because they're not round, but they are ergonomic..ironic.

The play was good yes..but I don't think it was ever even fully performed: the first showing was called on account of parley, the second had an improvised ending..

Dude, the sword fight! How could I forget that? I love that part (and the music that goes with it). I really wish I could have been able to see more of the screen while I was playing it, but thanks to some fun vision problems, all I could really see was Blank's "dialogue" telling me which button to press. Got a vague impression of Zidane flipping around and ducking Blank's swings, though, which was neat and all the noises the crowd makes are fun. I did that fight about five times, until I finally got the Queen's respect (ah Sly Cooper series, I knew someday the Zig-Zag Voodoo would come in handy >D).

Hahahahaha! Tichri, you're so weird. I love that.

I tried again last night, alas, I only managed to score... Less than 85. Or at least I think it was below 85, I dunno, I was pretty dazed yesterday, so I might be wrong.

I love the idea of "I Want to Br Your Canary".
I almost think Square should base a story on that.

I like that idea, but they'd obviously have to expand its storyline to a great extend.

it was cool for FF9... but no... that would be dumb.

Naiilo

Of course they would have to add on to it, you know, add some magic and some twisted elements, but I don't think it would be bad. And if you want to talk about a dumb idea for a story, check out some of the recent stuff from Square.

Why thank you, Zulu! ^_^ I try. *bows*

Re: I Want to Be Your Canary as done by Square...

I don't think it's really necessary. IWtbYC is really just a modified re-telling of Romeo and Juliet. It's pretty much a story that doesn't need to be told again. Though, now I think on it, there are a good many ways to make the story more interesting, but probably not enough to make a game out of it. The base and essential plot of the story is a romance; Square puts plenty of romance in their games, but that is never the big part of the story (adventure, world-saving (literally), and character developement seems to be the major elements for their stuff). All in all, I Want to Be Your Canary is too small of a story for Square, if that makes sense. Square does epics, not simpler fare.

It'd probably make a decent fanfic in the right hands, though. Especially if you really did the research into the lives and history of Gaia (well, as much research as one can do on the world setting, which means basically playing the game completely a couple of times over and paying attention to any information given about the playwrite and the world's earlier history). And it'd pay to know a good deal about Will Shakespeare himself, the era in which he lived, and have a good understanding of Romeo and Juliet (and the Greek myth that spawned it, even).

Or you could just write whatever just to get it out of your system. :P

Jeeze... I'd say I think too much, but all that was off the top of my head as I wrote it. :P Yay, ADD! >D
