Ok, this is really pissing me off >_<
Everytime I beat the final boss, shortly after the FMV of the Iifa tree beginning its 'violent reaction' .. I get pass some talking by Beatrix, but eventually when it begins to load the next bit I just get black screen - ps2 keeps trying to load (I hear disc spinning, spinning, spinning) .. I get nothing!. I can 'pause' and that is all.
Though if I eject the disc and put it back in, I might get some sound, but still no picture as it tried to load. At first I thought it may be my disc, so I got another copy of disc 4 and got the same thing :( .. I can't understand this WHY wont it let me watch the ending :( Has this only happened to me?

Guess my ps2 is just going to die soon :(
Ah well, at least I could find a video of the ending. But to see it from where Necron gets defeated would be better. If anybody has such a video file please let me know.

Sorry. I havent seen a video of the end either, but i know it rocks. (Its so sweet :) ) I was mad when i first beat necron, because i only had vivi alive at 200ish hp and kept auto potioning himself, but he was in berserk and i was extremely surprised when necron actually died from like 100 HP dmg a hit XD

Are you using original cds?

You can get a video of the ending at http://bluelaguna.net/ but only the video of the ending, not the in-game scenes

that has got to be it - the fact I'm using cd-r's and not an original copy.
oh well, the game is definently worth buying so looks like I'll do that.
I can't make sense of the problem being my ps2, since everything else has worked fine. Thanks for the link by the way, that's a nice webpage.

Had a similar problem with Final Fantasy VII crashing, if you have a 'chipped' PS1, stick it in there, worked for me.

its funny you mentioned that berserk thing, corroded. both times i beat necron i had to watch freya in berserk while everyone else was dead, and i eventually won.

Yeah, I hate when that happens. Eventually i just let it run for like half an hour and came back right as necron was dying. (I was peeking in every few minutes though)

do you use double disk speed on your ps2? if so try turning it off.
also copied games aren't going to be 100% reliable.

Also no.2
i beat necron with attacks on about level 50, it's very easy if you cure yourself and attack...
how did you get beserked?

The Grand Cross move can pretty much slap your players with every ailment in the book. Including Berzerk.

This is why you should always buy the original games. The original discs will 95% not fail you.

I don't recall getting hit but any kind of negative status. But i did finish ff9 a long time ago.

Revived thread, folks. And guess who revived it. Nobody around to help, I would suspect.

i remember finding necron really hard when i first fought him at level 56-62. then i got real wasted and beat him real easily at about 5am lol
the ending is well good.

im replaying it at the moment and ive literally just got the blue narciss so im running around fighting grand dragons on the little island north of the continent with the iifa tree and im level 42. ive still got chocobo hot and cold to do before i can finish the game though (gonna wait till i get the airship).

back on topic...my ps2 one day decided it wasnt gonna read ps1 games anymore (or certain ps2 games like midnight club 3 dub edition remix).
i gave it to my mate although kept the controller and bought a slimline. they're much more reliable and they play copied dvds as well as having a built in network adaptor. havent had anymore problems loading games :)
bit expensive though

I normally turn my PS around. Because with final fantasy VIII & IX have this "sound but black screen" problem. This works for me

What is about this thread that causes it to keep getting revived? No, don't answer that. I'll close it.
