Which mandatory boss fight did you consider to be the most difficult in FFX-2?

This means all boss fights on the main path only. Bosses on optional quests are optional and therefore can't be included in this.

Personally, I thought Shuyin was a piece of piss to beat, even at lower levels, and even more of a joke of a last boss than FFX's Yu Yevon.

I would nominate Baralai as the most difficult mandatory boss, as he almost beat me the first time I played the game. To be honest, he was just about the only mandatory boss in the game with any shred of difficulty.

What about the rest of you?

Most difficult COMPULSORY boss? Hmm... Well, they were all very easy... (I would have to say that the Queen Couerl was the hardest creature - at least for a while). what is the one at the end, which you fight mulitple times if you don't manage to get the note combination right for each puzzle in the last dungeon?

Yeah I found the Coeurl class of fiends irritating too. And I have to agree that they were often more challenging than most of the game's bosses. Another type of fiend that always annoyed me was the armoured freaks. They appear in Kilika on Chapter 1 and in the Thunder Plains in Chapter 4 if I remember correctly. Either way, they were seriously annoying.

That entire game is easysauce with Machina Maw, it's idiot proof.

I thought Machina Maw was inferior to Full Throttle as far as special dresspheres go. Secondly, the game was easysauce anyway. I think I managed to complete it at level 22 at last count, which is pretty pathetic.

The complusory stuff in this game is obviously designed to be piss easy. Only some of the optional bosses are hard. And yeah, I agree, Baralai is a reasonably decent challenge.

One of the reasons I have for disliking FFX-2 so much, especially compared to its predecessor. FFX hardly broke any new ground with its difficulty level; however, it was challenging enough to have plenty of boss fights where I would actually have to turn off the console, boot it up again and take some time to level up. Not once have I ever been beaten by a mandatory boss on X-2, and added to the fact that the main plot of X-2 takes around 10-15 hours to complete, makes the sequel have the feel of a half pint shandy, in comparison to which X is the real McCoy, the proper pint of lager with burger and chips. Strange way of putting it I know but you get my point.

This is why I love the Cloister of Trials so much. It's the only place where you'll get a decent to harder challenge. Then if you actually get the Iron Duke (and should you get three of them) you could basically complete the game at level 1 easily.

I've heard that a lot of people have trouble with the Magus Sisters in this game.

All of the mandatory bosses are easy.

All the non-mandatory bosses are hard as hell.

Chac's not compulsory, but I agree. She's the hardest in the game IMO. Not even ribbons prevent her from stoning you. The easiest thing to do (Lucky 7's and CatNip+TriggerHappy aside) is to OVERSOUL CHAC by fighting Kukulcans or Basilisks in other areas. She won't use Heaven's Cataract in this state, and her rate of successful stoning, considering you have high luck with Rabite's Foots, will be lessened. Definitely check out some strategies in Gamefaqs.

I definitely recommend oversouling Chac if you're not planning to use one of the little cheaty tricks.

Azi Dahaka was the creature that guarded Vegnagun, and yeah, that was very difficult. Probably can't be considered a mandatory boss though, as it is very much possible to beat the game without ever fighting it.

No Offence but...Machina Maw is crap and Full Throttle is the best XD

One of the hardist bosses that I cannot beat (and I skipped it) is one of the Aeons in Thunder Plains.

Vegnagun wasnt too hard (Challenging). Hell. I beat it in my 1st go XDD

Er, I agree?

I already said I thought Full throttle was the better dressphere. ;-)

Maybe Masaka_Naraku doesn't grasp the meaning of "inferior?" That's the only thing I can think of.

Umm...I feel really bad now. I mean, not only is this game the first Final Fantasy I've ever played (*hides*), but I'm stuck on the 3 aeons Mindy, Cindy, and Sandy in the Farplane...

...and I feel bad now....cuz Yuna just hit 60 and I still can't beat them...(*scowls at Mindy using nonstop Passado and Sandy for using Razzia*)

Chain attacks on them! Go crazy with Trigger happy. Or toss elemental gems using Alchemist, or switch into pretty much any special dressphere. Oh --- and target one at a time --- as soon as just one goes down, they lose access to Delta Attack.

Pretty much follow Agent's advice. If your levels are high you should not really have any problems. I managed to beat them at Level 20 using the default Thief-Gunner-Warrior combination.

Also, deploy a specialist White Mage. That usually goes a long way towards ensuring your victory in most mandatory bosses in X-2.

Agent0042

Or an Alchemist if you've made good progress on that dressphere with any character. (Heh, the new Firefox 2.0 spell-checker doesn't like the word "dressphere.")

lol...I got past that part with two Gunners going Trigger Happy and a White Mage (when before I was using White Mage, Berserker, and Lady Luck...lol ^_^)

this is my first time playing it...and I have all dresspheres other than Mascot, Trainer, and Alchemist (but I started another one cuz this Alchemist one sounds interesting ^_^)
