anyone have any info on these remakes other than the fact that they are on squares list of things to do.

Well I read in OPM that there will be remakes, but it won't be for awhile. The remakes are for 7,8, and 9, and will include updated music and small touch ups in the graphics. I guess that means lots more waiting. :(

I hope they don't change them too much and i don't think they should touch up the music

if they do touch up the music, keep "one winged angel" the midi that plays in your final battle with sephy!!! the latin chanting thing is cool.... i hope they do, but all i've heard was rumors of it.

I think by touching up the music, they'll just use the orchestral versions of the songs (like those on the OST). Midis sound really, really bad...we've gotten used to them on FF7, 8 and 9, but with a full orchestra it will sound much better.

Also, the orchestral version of One Winged Angel is brilliant.

I would probably get ff7 when it first came out, as for 8 and 9 I would wait till the price went down cause I wasnt' near as pleased with them as I was with 7.

Hmmmmmm I thought Square scratched the remakes......anyway it would be really cool if they go through with it. When I was playing VII I was always thinking (If only the graphics were better.......) VII is a game that really NEEDS good graphics dont you think? Later............

hmmm.... FF 9 they should remake.. but 8??? ehh... i got bored of that one ... they should make a sequel to FF 7 or 9...

I think that they only need to change the graphics up to date and improve the music quality. If they changed much more it would take away from the great games.

This will be great! I'll buy all of them especially FF VII, with all the amazing new graphics, and maybe they'll complete FF VII (those who did'nt know it was'nt complete this is a list of things that were ment to of happened:-

1) Make your own Sephiroth.
2) Revive Aeris
3) And more materia.)

But if they do complete FF VII then it'll probably go down as the greatest game of all time.

Hey Nirvana what's this about making your own Sephiroth? But I did hear about how they were planning to make extra materia and make it so you could revive Aeris, still the Sephiroth one confuses me me.

I think a sequel for FF7 would flop. But it would end all arguements over the Aeris vs Tifa thing. Personally I think Cloud was with Tifa. And if they made a sequel, there would be proof that he was with either Tifa or Aeris. All the fighting would stop. And there would be a set in stone relationship. so.. FF7 sequel ;)

im pretty sure there wont be reviving aeris or having sephiroth as a main character

but changing all the lame midis in ff7 to a full fledged orchestra would be so cool, id buy it again

ff7 is great as it is but id like to see ff7 remade with nicer char. models and better fmv's possible some spoke dialouge but as for 8 whats the point? everyone already says " You have to admitt the graphics were great " as top reason why ff8 was so good...but thats just my opinion lol i knock ff8 every chance i get.. and ff9 was great...as it is i dont see a reason to remake it

I think they'll make new gfx and fix the music, but the rest of the game will remain the same :)

i really want to see remakes of ff7 and 8. If you really could revive aeris that would be so stupid SHE IS DEAD. The music should stay the same the graphics should be made even better. If this was released I really don't think it would sell much at all after all most people would think it wouldn't be that much different so why buy it. (I would buy it)

I heard of those remakes, but I don't think it will be realesed outside of Japan same as in FF10 international (for those who hab heard about it).

I'd have to agree that if they are released it will be a Japan only release. You'd have to import them, which can be expensive.

Can I just say that FF 10 international is coming out in PAL version as well.

I don't know about this but how bout Square release FF7, 8, and 9 on DVD for the Playstation 2, they could probably fit the three games on about 2 DVD's although I'm not quite sure the max size of Playstation 2 DVD's.

What's all this about FFVII needing better graphics? I still think FFVII's graphics are awesome. So what if the characters use gouraud shading rather than texture maps? It doesn't detract one bit from the gameplay. Here's a tip: graphics DO NOT MAKE A GREAT GAME!! They can add to it, but a game WILL NOT sell on graphics alone; it has to have the gameplay and plot to back it up. That's why FFVIII sucked. All eye-candy; sweet graphics but a plot and gameplay that rotted your mind! And, although I can't be a judge of it due to it still not being avalaible in PAL format, FFX looks like repeating that mistake.

It's way too soon to do make remakes for the games, but in 3 or 4 years it would be a good idea.

well it may be too early for FFVIII and IX remakes, but I dont think it would be too early for FFVII, **Goes to check the Copyright date**....ok got it, 1997....so no it wouldn't be too early


ok to the point of the remakes

FFVII, the only thing needed is improved music, and PS2 graphics, the rest of the game should stay the same, maybe add like oe or two more side quests, ex: more unknown materia.......(*only wishes they would revive aeris*)<-----but they won't so quit wishing

FFVIII, No point to a remake square would just loose profit from it.

FFIX, Hopefully they would make it to where you can play longer, and not make it to where you have to "beat the game" in under 12 hours just to get the Excalibur II......(they need a separate side quest for that), but all the is just wishful thinking.

I guess the last 5 years went by way too quickly for me because it seemed just like yesterday when I was playing and beating FFVII although I played it when it first came out.

Didn't Square cancel the remakes, or atleast postpone them a long time? But yeah, 7 would really be the only one that would sell a lot if a remake came out. It would be cool to have it longer, more side quests, better graphics(but it's graphics now are fine, atleast i think so), and add voice acting. That would be kind of cool, I wouldn't mind finding out what Clouds voice would song like. But even if all 3 came out with only miner changes, I would still buy all 3 and play them to death again.

Frankly, if they made FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX remakes. I'd want them to be completeley redone with PS2 graphics (Like FFX). I'd want the views, city layouts etc to be entirely different. (Except for Midgar. ^_~) Plus, none of those Popeye looking FFVII characters. I'd want them to be realistic.

BUT, if they touched the stories in anyway, shape, or form. It would ruin the games.

Okay, I've heard alot about the remakes, but i keep on reading on a lot of sites that they are going to happen, but it will probably take a while, which I could understand, because they should remake them just like Final Fantasy 10, and if 7, 8, 9 had voice acting they would be worth the money to buy it, if they remade final fantasy 7 like final fantasy 10, then final fantasy 7 will once again be the best out of the series, I don't think they should revive Aeris, because then there would be no death Cinema. They need to redo the battle system in final fantasy 8. They should also put an ending song in final fantasy 7. Any one interesting in talking about this then e-mail me at

I heard that they are making the "Rikku" and the "Yuna" show for PS2... Although I think it will be a game for Japan nationals only...

Although, it would be cool to see FFVII and FFIX made on the FFX engine...it would make Midgar look like "Insomniac with Dave Attell".... it will be cool to see Tifa and Dagger in realistic raghics too...

Excuse me for that. I really would like to see a remake of FF VII. I really think that the game needed a few touch-ups in the plot and in some other aspects. It would be really great if they went and gave you a way to get back Aeris! Aeris rocked!

If they did improve FF VIII or IX then I would have to say that the best they could do on improving those games would have to be the full ochestra music.
