Don't really know. But I'm not going to sit around that game for 18 hours and find out.

Over 18 hours, there is no credit at the end of game.
And in the "new game +", Solid is invisible, infinite ammo, ...

I couldn't possibly imagine playing that for 18+ hours though. Just get the bandana and stealth by means of kicking the games ass. But you do pose an interesting question, I'll have my brother play it again to see.

Well since I have the tendency to not save my games and rather leave them sitting there on a pause menu for hours, I know the answer.

Nothing happens.

Sorry.

Man you would have to be pretty crap to take longer than 18 hours to complete MGS1 it was easy.

Yeah the time still goes.
Because at the end my final time was like 54 hours because I would leave it on, go to a friend's house and not come home until the next day.

I thought that the difficulty of MGS was perfectly reasonable in all honesty, much worse had Konami made it ridiculously hard.

Also, the game was most likely too "pitifully easy" for you because most people play MGS games on difficulties lower than "Normal."

Although I must admit, even on Extreme it is the easiest out of the entire series.
