What i'm asking basically is, how much music do you listen to? Does music affect your mood etc etc.

For me, music is very important in my life, I listen to several 100 songs a day, whether it be on my i-pod, going about my daily business, or on my pc, or whatever. I find if i'm really down, music can help cheer me up.

Thoughts?

Music is everything to me. It sets the mood for everything plus I find that it's a good way to document your life since every song reminds you of a particular moment in your life. The musical diary of my life.

on a sidenote: I wonder what song I should choose for my funeral.

music is certainly very important to me and i enjoy listening to it. i think a good record is the equal to a good book, performance or movie (and i often accompany a book with some music), and i think the best music is capable of moving you as much as the best literature or theatre.

I hesitate to say that music is a big part of my life because I don't know if that is true. I certainly enjoy music a great deal but it rarely dictates anything in my life. Except for maybe when I am going to see a show or something. I don't think music deos much for my mood either I might listen to certain bands when I am extra happy or something but that is more my mood dictating the music. Music might be becoming a bigger part of my life though because I recently got a job with a pretty snazzy venue round these parts and hopefully I will meet some cool music people.

On a side note I don't like to listen to music when I am out walking around and it kind of annoys me when people live in their ipod headphones. It can get rather annoying when you are trying to talk to someone or whatever.

Music plays a really big part in my life in that I listen to it a lot and I enjoy it a ton too. However, despite playing a big part, I doubt it plays a completely integral part of my life. On the Flaming Lips website, Wayne's notes about the Soft Bulletin talk in length about a world without sound whatsoever, and I think that if I found myself in such a situation where, not only was there no music, but I was essentially deaf i would be affected much more adversely. Really, whilst I accept that it might be difficult to deal with for a while, I'd probably get over it so long as I had BoOkZ.

Music plays a massive part of my life, especially as I'm a musician. I don't think I could function properly if I didn't listen to some truely decent music for a month. Though it maybe this 4 litres of cider I've just drunken. But I think I love music that much.

I like it a lot. If it went away... I'd have to spend that time enjoying and collecting other things I like a lot.

Yeah, music is important to me, increasingly over the past two years. I listen to music more than I read books, and watch movies, so obviously, I'm more reliant on music than anything. I think if the top 10 bands on my lastfm didn't exist, I wouldn't be the person I was today, or at least, wouldn't be so passionate about music in general.

Its pretty much the biggest love in my life.
Fact: the original reason i joined this forum was to ask Rezo for some Geinoh Yamashirogumi albums wich he made a topic of.
Sadly, he never shared them.

I enjoy music when I go out and drink and stuff. Its also good for when I need cheering up.
Not a 'big part of my life' or anything. Music is music, and frankly it gets on my nerves the way some people go on and on about their fave bands and shit.

I said 'some people'. For example my friend who tries so hard to be recognised as a metalhead by talking about nothing other than his fave band members and their lives. I didnt say mean it shits me when people talk about bands, just when people ALWAYS talk about bands.

I dunno if that's right. The way Monkeydude had it, if music was not important to you, you are some sort of gaseous entity.

No, I think that he meant it in the way when people try to gain recognition from their peers, and he has a fair point. Not just in a musical sense though, but when people start striving to become part of any social clique and it has a really big affect on their personality, I think it is perfectly reasonable to be annoyed.

I used to have a good friend who I no longer speak to because he decided that it would do him good to no longer be associated with me. I've probably even suffered a wee bit from the social clique bug myself in the past, to the point where I now question whether or not I have either pretty much finished being concerned with such things or am so concerned with them that I have deluded myself into thinking I am not and that I instead have a completely chameleon-like personality. That's for me to think over though.

I spend 22+ hours a week playing music. I listen to it very often too, though probably not as much as other people here. Still, it is a very large part of what I do every day, and my life would drastically suck if I couldn't play music anymore.

I dont believe I could function properly without music. If im at my pc. I pretty much always have music playing. If im out on the go. Then my minidisc and/or mp3 player is always with me so I have music to listen to on the go.

I find it can effect my mood. If I am feeling down and start listening to things that are depressing as it is. For example (not that I would but everyone knows this song) James blunts- Beautiful. I would listen to that when im feeling down and upset, which is pretty stupid as that song makes me wanna kill myself when I hear it normally. But you get the idea. It can effect my mood hugely at times.

I listen to music when I draw, almost exclusively. It's not important to me at all. Like Mr. Agent Plasma-Shotgun Pants it would probably only really mean something to me if I was making it. Probably I don't get too into just being a fan of something. Probably I was different when I was younger. Not sure since I was really into programming back when I was really into gaming, but probably.
