I guess this is how Sony plans to make more money on the $3,000 it costs to manufacture each Playstation 3.

I don't find it nearly as outrageous that they have games where you can buy additional things and buying everything would cost you an absurd amount of money as I find it absurd that they expect people to pay 59.99 (or whatever the msrp is, I forget) for a racing game with... two tracks. srsly.

What? One game is a reason to bitch about the whole system? Who cares *that* much about GT?

considering GT: HD was essentially a flagship piece of software for the PS3 (as evidenced by how often they promoted it and demo'd it), I think it's fairly significant, honestly. D:

it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this (more money for better graphics but less game content) becomes a trend in gaming.

I'm guessing the next proper sequel in the Gran Turismo series will have less shenaniganry involved with it than these two games. There were a few "special" games in the series in the past between parts 3 and 4, I think. They had different sets of cars and more than two tracks, but I think the tracks were mostly(entirely?) pulled from part 3. I'm guessing HD is just following their lead, and if it was pushed at all would be because GT is their biggest series and launches are shitty.

Buying cars to use in online races seems a little stupid though. Only a little in that I guess people can figure out what the best cars are and just buy those for a few bucks?

All Australian news of GT:HD I've come across proclaimed that it was a tech demo just as the Final Fantasy VII footage was, and wasn't intended for release at all. I never assumed it was going to be a release of any kind, so I don't see this as that big a deal.

Like the Gran Turismo: Concept that was put out in only a couple foreign markets a few years ago?

i think i found a better way to make money off gt for sony

u have to buy the cars like they say but u also have to be the gas and stuff to race.

and then u have to buy the racer people food b/c they get hungry. sometimes u get somebody fat who is in pretty bad shape and he will eat more so more money. if the racer dies u have to pay for the funeral costs in the game or u can't play it anymore, and then u have to hire a new racer for more money on top of that and he'll want a new car which you have to buy and maybe some things like a cupholder or whatever

also u need to pay for the racer's apartment and sometimes the racer may invite a lady friend over or a man friend if the racer is a woman or a homosexual if he goes that way because he might u know it is random in the game so whatever so you have to buy all this stuff you know like dinner and then other stuff if u r a woman racer then u may need to buy stuff like pregnancy pills u know and whatever

oh and if u get pregnant you can't race for nine months and have to hire somebody else to race

this would be somewhat ok if they sell the game brand new for like 10 bucks or so.

Whatever happened to simply being skillfull enough to unlock something?
They should create controllers that recognise a persons DNA or something and make it IMPOSSIBLE for them to achieve certain things without having to actually play for it!
Honestly tho, i like the concept as it fits GT and as any GT fan knows you barely drive like what, 1/3 of all the vehicles? The price they're asking is retarded tho.

Lol making GT like that is just a super waste of time and everyone knows it. I mean the only people who will buy new cars and tracks are die-hard fans and not even they are gonna try and get every single car and track... unless that find a way to infiltrate the system ^^

You've also gotta realise that the PS3 is costing them $3,000 to make. And the system is pretty much a super computer. The way I understand it, you can pretty much use your PS3 like you would a normal PC, but I could be wrong.

Valerie Valens

The $3000 allegation by Odin is unproven. I think $900 is a more accurate figure.

Not even Sony is retarded enough to sell a system that costs $3000 to build at a 400% loss.

I only play GT4 for drifting. I care less about the game itself and I don't really see a need for me to get this game if I get a PS3 (unlikely right now).

Drifting in NFS is so unrealistic that it makes me sick. And I'm not into hip hop so I don't really like the music. But GT4 is more realistic because the throttle actually steers the car like real-life drifting.

Plus, I think it's stupid that you have to make your car look like it came from a candy store just to complete the game.
