1. Stop numbering the FF, because soon FFXXVI is going to sound dumb.

2. The main reason why I am making this thread is to discuss an idea that I had for a FF game.

-I really enjoyed XI and how they did the job thing.
-Create a single-player game that involves you and other characters or the whole world saving idea.. yeah what they do best, except don't give them any specific roles. Choose your character's role like you did in FF1 something general. Througout the game you acquire quests and soon find out that there are other job classes that you can 'cross-train' into. Just like FFXI you go out on a quest to become a Dragoon or a Dark Knight or whatever. Once the quest is completed any of your characters have the ability to become what it is you unlocked. Of course like in FFXI you can get sub jobs that way you can become more versatile.

I really liked FFX's battle system where you can swap out any character at any time. Implement this along with say..... 6 different characters you can create a divers party, each specializing in something and can 'hot-swap' them out during battle to make use of their unique skills.

Weapon skills, crafting... changeable armor, even questable sets, purchasable sets and legendary sets that all appear on the character once you get it.

Basically.. I would love to see FFXI style game as a single player game. I thoroughly enjoyed that game and I would love to play something along the same lines, but I just don't have the time for the online adventures anymore. I miss the job roles and the weapon specific leveling and weapon skills. I miss the quests that created the different jobs and would love to see it come into a single player game.

Oh please... if any devs are out there (which i doubt) here me and consider! :(

Supposedly XII is like that, sorta.
In the way that you free roam the environment without a fixed camera angle.

It is.. but..

I mean not so much the gameplay (i've played FFXII while in Indonesia) but I mean more like aquiring the different jobs and weaponskills like in FFXI.

ekinserge

emphasis more in job/classes

Gilthanos
09-17-2006, 06:21 PM
yes.. exactly. Questing for your job with a nice side story behind it. Tactics was job oriented, but .. they were just handed to you. I believe that this way you have to go out and EARN those jobs just like in FFXI. Gave you a sense of accomplishment when you finally get a chance to don the gear and weaponry and skills of a particular class. I'm sure it can be implemented in a single player game... just a matter of when.

You're not even sure if they'll reach that number. You never know.

Gilthanos

that's not the point lol. 12 sounds dumb.. 13 sounds dumb.. they should just put a subtitle on it instead and leave out the numbers.

lol yur idea sonds like final fantasy tactics... but i dunno...i didnt really enjoy that game... maybe its cuz yu dont liket ravel an stuff like in ff7 but yur lookin at a map an theres no adventure... gasp yu should add the whole adventure thingy into yur idea!! i'd play it for sure ^^

Gilthanos
09-17-2006, 07:29 PM
lol... that would be X. lol

Seriously, the subtitles that they have for 13 are great... dump the number sub in the subtitles and you got yourself something there. I especially don't understand why they made three different games, set in three different worlds with three different main characters and are naming them under the same number 13. That don't make no sense!!!!

well.. yeah... but i mean more like FFXI where you have to QUEST for it with a background story that goes along with it as well. I'm not trying to state the entire game. I'm just saying that IN THE GAME.... I'd like to see what I had stated in my original post.

I loved FF7.. I've loved them all with the exception of 8 and X-2. As I said before I would love to see an offline XI. Gameplay was great, story was great... it was the people that made the game suck monkey balls.

Which can raise confusion for gamers.

And if that happens, Square-Enix wouldn't know what to do and might end up losing their fans.

they already decided to more or less do this.

five years between the last two standard FF's (FFX, FFXII).

well.. there was alot of time between X and XII because of all the work that was put into XI.

No reason to stop now though.

lol.. it's funny that people focus on the numbering thing and not of the idea of jobs being in a single-player game in the same fashion as in FFXI. That's what I was trying to push more than anything. >,<;;;

an online final fantasy again?

or more like, two player final fantasy, or maybe four when you use multi-tap.

I hated FFXI. I dont even consider it a Final Fantasy game. Its just...too damn big! There is no ending! No way to accomplish everything! I hate that shit.

FF VII, VIII, IX, AND X they did the best job with.

Basically, you want there to be a "Final Fantasy: Some Words Here", where you have to earn different jobs through single player gameplay?

That's Harvest Moon.

That's because it's an MMO. MMO's don't have endings.... HOWEVER... this one kinda does. You complete the story side of it, you get an ending. However you still keep on going if you want.

I did not like VIII. I liked the graphics, I liked the gameplay, but i really did not like the minicardgame, and I did not like the story or much of the quest for that matter. After I beat it.. I was done. Ragnarok looked awesome, and as I said... that game definitely had it's GREAT moments.

Yeah, I fuckin hate that card game too, lol. I just dont like games that are WAAAAY too open-ended. Some freedom is cool, but I like it to be a little linear.

Gilthanos

very true... I admit that FF7 was by far the best balanced game of open endedness with linearity i've seen in a FF other than VI.
