Just another random thought thread i made, got sick of argument threads and stuff thats not FF.


Ok so I was just thinking about how in the matrix (the first one) there is a character called Cypher who betrays Morpheus and the others and at one point Trinity says "Damn you Cypher".


And how in FF VIII there is Seifer who betrays the Garden and works for Galbadia/Edea. At a scene where Squall has been locked up in the desert prison he says "Damn you Seifer".


This always makes me think of how they are similar. Thats all.
Anyone else pick this random thought up?

the reason the antagonists in both the Matrix and FFVIII are Seifer and Cypher (pronounced the same) is because of the definition. Cipher is a word that literally means zero and is also defined as "something with no value or importance."

but anyways, yeah, if you guys wanna see a REALLY linked game, play Legend of Dragoon for PSX. I swear, it's like the same. the main character, Dart, has a messed up past, and his childhood friend, Shana, apparently inherits this mystical power from a long time ago and then so Shana's basically the "Rinoa" and Dart's a "Squall" basically, change a few names, the dialouge, add and take away a few things, and it's really similar. 0.o

A fellow LOD player I see, yes dart and squall both have pasts but Dart isn't as anti-social and doesn't swear by the "..." code.

yeah, that's true, but c'mon. the whole moon thing and Shana being one of those, Virage Embryos and Rinoa being a sorcerous? Then having this weird dude that tries to take over the world from the past or future... >_>

True they had EXTREME similarities but they were different, like in FFVIII mercenaries hunted the sorceress', Shana was just hunted by the umm.... it's been a while but some king/or something. Squall only did what he was told until he fell in love, it was Darts affection for shana that led him to try to save her, from the beginning. *spoiler* not to mention umm dart's friends death, was a complete turn around from FFVIII, but yes some rpgs do have micro/macro similarities.

yeah, I guess you have a point... I haven't played the game in a while, but I played LOD before FF8, so when I started playing FF8, a few years after I started LOD, I was like, "something seems familiar... >_>" lol.

I should go find that game again. it was awesome. xD
