Yeah I heard about the 4 new movies and that....Not sure what to think of them.... I don't think they should have done it...but if the movies turn out to be a success, than I'll be just fine with em. But they better be good. If not I'll do my best to ignore them and continue loving the original series.

Even if they are good, it's still the same damn story. It doesn't seem like they'll add anything drastically new (besides the "new" ending, which will probably be very similar to the last two). At this point, the franchise has been milked a little too long.

I heard some stuff sometime back about The End of Evangelion. Well, read more precisely, that the writer received some hate mail or something from unhappy fans about ending the series so he purposely did not write the ending as he originally envisioned it. What was that all about?

Apparently the new version is being changed as to be slightly more coherent than the original.

So they're going to bring them back to life again and then blow then up this time in highdef.

I'm just looking forward to...that is if they do it...a Girlfriend of Steel anime.

But I haven't given up on this "new" project either. It might be better than the original. I have hopes for it if the rumors are true. I am a big fan of Evangelion as it's one of the first animes I've ever gone GA-GA over for. So this might just be a very biased opinion :P

BTW, none of that "artsy bullshit" was confusing to me. It's all very simple yet convenient on the young "hero." To me, it all sounded like common thoughts and feelings most people more or less experience at a subconscious level (and probably a split second, not a thirty frickin' minute episode). Some of it though was Shinji's wierd version.

I didn't think it was semen immediately. I didn't know what to think of it. Actually, the first two things that popped into my mind were snot or drool. Semen was like, the twelfth possibility that crossed my mind. I don't know what you've seen, but in the copy I downloaded, the semen appears suddenly out of nowhere, not even the slightest indication that he unzipped his pants or anything.

Oh it gets better. As I was watching the anime, I noticed a lot of SO-CALLED Christian/Biblical symbolism and whatnot (Lilith/Rei being the big one). Then I found out that the Bibles in Japan also contain the Apocrypha (non-canon/rejected books of the Bible). To me it explains how wrong Japan gets it(worse than Hollywood, IMO) whenever Christianity or Judaism is referenced in an anime.

What I thought was interesting (or bad, as some would call it) was that the Judeo-Christianity references were mixed with a pretty run-of-the-mill Freudian outlook on the mind (i.e., that every thought relates to sexual intercourse in some way, shape or form). That was the most disturbing thing of all, I thought.

So what we got is a mix of Bible, Apocrypha, and Freud. Thing of it is, those three things in a sense 'reject' each other. Freud rejected religion in all its form(especially Christianity) and the teachings of the Bible and Apocrypha are opposed to one another.

Actually it would be both Oedipus and Adam and Eve, or rather Lilith.

Oedipus-Didn't know the woman he slept with was his mother. When he found out, he poked his eyes out.

Shinji/Rei: Didn't know Rei is actually a clone of his mother. I suppose he lost it when he found out he technically fell in love with his mother in the wrong way.

Adam and Eve/Lilith: This is where Apocrypha comes in. Lilith was supposed to be the 'first woman'. She refused to have consummate her 'marriage' with Adam and was cast of Eden. For revenge or somethin', she became the Mother of Demons. After that, God created Eve.(Why this is so contrary to the Bible, it'd need its own thread)

Shinji/Rei: If I remember correctly then those 'angels' they were fighting are actually the children of Lilith/Rei. I suppose at the end of the series, Shinji and Rei were supposed to be the new Adam and Eve.

Perhaps the new Evangelion movies will attract more viewers?
I can say that that's my case, since I haven't watched the original adaptation yet.
I'm kinda excited about watching the new ones, though, what with all the advancement in animation.
The music seems pretty good too, from what I saw on the preview.
