Out of all types of games, my favorites would probably be tactics games such as Final Fantasy Tactics & FFTA, Fire emblem, and Tactics Ogre Knights of Lodus. I disliked FFTA very much and i thought Fire emblem was decent. TO and FFT were my favorites by a long shot.

What other good tactics games are out their that i could get?

La Pucelle: Tactics is pretty fun. It might take a little while to get used to the anime and french names, but the story is pretty strong and the battles are really quite fun. I'd definately recommend it.

Never played it. Tactics is the only Nippon Ichi game I've played. Sarah might know.

Disgaea is bloody brilliant. Get it.

Or wait till October 10th for Disgaea 2.

Disgaea is generally accepted as the best Nippon Ichi game, but they're all wonderful. they're all also cutesy sprite-based games for the art stuff, just in case that isn't your thing.

some lists here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tactical_role-playing_games

there was also a Nippon Ichi-esque game made for the GBA made by someone other than NIS but I forget who made it.

Well, he didn't say it was bad, just that he disliked it, so there really isn't anything wrong with the statement.

Well I have to say Fire emblem is an excellent series and one of my favorites, FFT is one of my favorite games for the PS1. Suikoden tactics is out but I have never played it, maybe another shriner can advise on this.

I disliked it mainly because i was hoping it'd turn out like FFT did. I wasn't to fond of the story and the law system made me want to chuck my GBA at a brick wall at times. I also didnt like the ability system

I've played Suikoden Tactics, and for a 'Tactics' style game, it wasn't half bad. It's just a shame it was let down by the horrendous story and such (I mean, being set 100 years before the first Suikoden? What is going on with all these prequels stuff?!?!).

I would recommend Konami's Vandal Hearts and Vandal Hearts II for the PSX. Standard 'Tactics' fare, with a good storyline, a sturdy battle system and the levelling up is decent too.

FFT is a good game... However I can't say much more about it, considering my copy disappeared when my stooge of a cousin asked to borrow it, and now doesn't remember where he put it (Bastard).

The Fire Emblem games... well, I've only played Fire Emblem Path Of Radiance for the Gamecube, and I enjoy it. I've heard that some people consider it to be the weakest of the Fire Emblem series, preferring the earlier ones. I haven't played them, so I can't offer an opinion.

I would suggest the Nintendo Wars series, if contemporary to futuristic warfare cater to you while on the go. Especially the neoteric Advance Wars/DS Wars.

Dual Strike for the NDS has a better system I've found, and a great bonus in its' favour is the freedom with which strategical manoeuvres can be implemented, compared to the Advance wars/BHR games. These games, whilst great, didn't offer as many unit choices and therefore the potential versitility of the army was somewhat compromised. Dual Strike offered new units, which may not seem like a big deal to newcomers, but in DS the army begins to FEEL like an army, and consequently YOU begin to feel like the Commanding Officer which to me is a massive improvement.

I think FFTA was a good game, but just no where near as good as FFT. FFT had a very dramatic story, was much harder, and longer. People just compare it to the first one to much.

Oh and to stay on topic, have you tried Onimusha Tactics for the GBA? I haven't played it but I've heard decent things.
