I started too play FFIX again and im at the earth guardian now, with zidane lvl 39 and quina lvl 30, yet i have 99 hi pots and still i cant defeat him.
I let quina heal zidane so zidane can fight, then in the second turn quian dies (i have no time to rez her, then i keep healing myself after each attack,i wait for trance (it doesnt take that long because earth guardian mostly attacks with magic) then when zidane is in transe i use Dyne: Solution 9 hits about 4900-5800 i did this 3 times then trance ended still the earth guardian is not deafeated, i keep healing myself but hes to strong, how do i defeat this anoying pice of sh*t. ??? plz help :)

Auto-float makes that battle a piece of cake because his most powerful attack will always miss. If you don't have it already, I'd recommend equipping some items that let you use it. Also, try to eat it since Quina can learn its earth shake attack.

Also you can make the frog drop of quina very powerfull (up to 9999).

You can also equip both Zidane and Quina with Gaia Gear, which absorbs earth-element attacks. You should have the Hilda Guarde III at that point, so it'll be easy to get to a shop that sells it (Daguerreo, Ipsen's Castle).

To learn Frog Drop, you need to eat a Gigan Toad, which are all over the Qu Marshes. But if you haven't caught a lot of frogs in Quina's frog-catching game, or if Quina's level isn't very high, that attack will be useless.

Frog Drop damage = (number of frogs caught) x (Quina's level)

Good luck!

Use a phoenix down.
You're probably thinking of "Soulcage." ^^;

Earth Guardian isn't an undead type monster.

Good thinking, but he's not an undead. I can see from your another thread that you're already past this battle. For anyone else that might ever read this, though, another common tactic is to use Quina's "Matra Magic" to reduce its HP to 1 and then hit with anything whatsoever (or just use Quina's "Eat" for a guaranteed learn of Earth Shake.)

yea i know, but matra magic almost misses everytime so by the time it hits your probably dead because you tried to hard and not heal..... :P

Well, it misses if your levels are low. If they're somewhat higher, I think it's actually an effective strategy.
