Will PS3 play PS2 and PS1 games?
Ken Kutaragi has confirmed 100% backwards compatibility with PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games. The PS3 will upscale legacy games into high definition, much like the Xbox 360 does with original Xbox games.

On an interesting side-note, a recent conference about the PS1 emulator for the PSP said that games could be downloaded to your PS3; meaning that the PS3 can run the digital versions of PS1 games as well.

Hopefully save games will be transferrable.

Well its more advanced becuase that would mean any PS1 game, where as the WII has a limit of games i believe
I'm pretty sure he was talking about the feature on the Wii where you can download past NES, SNES, etc games.
