Howdy all,

Though I've noticed this in small doses around launch time for new consoles; I'm starting to notice it more and more now as a plague amongst video game resellers. I'm referring to this notion of trading in games for new gaming machines. They seem desperate to rob your games from you and sell them off again. Cheaper?? Not at all... at next-to-retail prices.

Trade in 25 PS2 games to bring down the price of a PS3. Trade in 85 games and take home a new PS3 for abolutely nothing. Trade in your old X-Box and 15 games to bring the price of an X-Box 360 down. Trade in PS2/X-Box games to take home a Nintendo DS for free or at a reduced price. Its everywhere.

I'm not saying such ideas are silly, but what i'm curious about is does anyone actually take up these offers? And; will such deals become scrapped if Sony outlaws the reselling of purchased games? Well, undoubtedly so... for Sony products anyway. Thoughts??

I don't see much wrong with these promotions, if you can call them that. And since I've traded in less than 10 games in my entire life, I guess I really never partake in these special deals.

i say we rape em in the ass with this. someone mentioned this one time (prolly as a joke) but i think it'd be great if it was done.

go buy like cheap 1 dollar games and trade those in. if theres only one game that's cheap, get 85 copies of that ONE game. they should still trade you. and that would just fking rule. lol

I thought of that idea too but if you read the small print on these posters it says that the games have to be in good condition and new enough.

haha

It`s funny because i never trader in games. Period.

I keep every game i ever bought. I have a massive load of PSone games from the days of old that are still in my room. The same goes for the Xbox and PS2. You get shitty deals anyway so i just steer clear from selling any games.

Pretty much.

The local EB Games promo along these lines clearly states that none of the games can be sports games and that they must be in near-mint condition.

Also: It is a fucking rip off, they are only giving you between $5-8 per game (they do this anyway, but) if you were getting a fair market value for the games you'd only need to trade in six.

Can Sony really scrap the foundation of EB/Gamestop wealth I mean if they resell games they still keep getting a profit over and over more than making up for their purchase of the games plus I know people who sell their games to their friends try to outlaw that Sony.

If I have a cheap game that I don't particuarly like, then I sell it to the idiot kids at school for almost 5x as much then what GameStop will give you.

It is ridiculous.

I did that to get my ps2 oh so long ago. I traded in my PSX and like 7 or so of the games I didn't really like and got my ps2 for 100 while they were normally still selling for like 200-250 so it was a pretty good deal. I do regert getting rid of King's Field though that was pretty cool game and might be kind of rare now, I'm ont really sure.

I Went To Do That When I Went to Get My Ps2... I Traded In My Psone And Several Games That I Was Finished/Bored With. However Nowehre Does it State In The Advertising That Some Games Simply Wont Be Accpeted. I Was Told That 50% Of My Game Collection Was Simply Un Sellable Due To An Overcrowded Market in Certain Games. So Therefore My Ps2 Went From Me Hoping To Get One 200$ Cheaper Suddenly Become Only 100$ Because there Were Too Many Copies Of Certain Games Already Available... Which In My Opinion Is Utter Bullshit. But I Still Got Rid of My Psone And A Few Games And Got My Ps2 But That Was Some Years Ago... I Think I Traded The Console And Ten Games Worth Around 100$. These Days it Takes 25 Games And Your Old Console For That Same 100$ So I Think It Is an Utter Waste Of Time And Youre Better Off Saving For The Newest Console As oppsed To Getting Ripped Off By EB For your Old one.
