for example Doom or the if you are a multiple of X level you get badly injured or killed or any other spells that just make you die and spells that induce zombie?

I think they are game flaws.

you may now flame =)

In other words, you're not quite ready to graduate from Sesame Street games yet, where all you have to do is press the X button when you hear Big Bird laugh.

You may be rubbing the sticks together, but I don't see so much as a puff of smoke, much less a flame. You have to do a lot better if you want to go toe to toe with me.

In fact, I think that most of the later FF games are quite imbalanced for the players' favour.

Since FFVI, spells/abilities that imbalance the game in the player's favor:

Ultima. Life 3.

KotR. Omnislash. Final Attack.

Renzokuken. Aura. Aura. Aura. FFVIII was just broken to begin with...

Dragon Crest. Thievery. Frog Drop. Reflect x2/Flare. Auto-Life.

Holy. Doublecast. Yojimbo.

As far as spells against a certain character goes I say thet are usually easy with the "normal" monsters. Infact the only spell I've ever had any problem with as far as I can think of was level 5 death on ff8.

As far as "boss" monsters go I'd say it's just a simple matter of strategy and bbeing given a bit of time to get used to them.

Doom is a fairly simple spell to be attacked with. =/

The amount of lvl 5 Doom-casting enemies is so stupidly low, that it doesn't really matter anyway. Making a thread to whine about a spell that rarely comes up, let alone messes you up, is rather asinine.

My sentiments exactly. Well. The original FFI was rather hard.

but then again its pretty much impossible to make turn based rpgs difficult. generally, you can either kill it or it kills you in 1-2 hits. attempting to add difficulty generally just means you have to use heal spells and items a little more, oh nos, hard.

Psycho_Cyan

FFI was more difficult in that you couldn't just spam your Nuke/Heal spells like you can with the newer FF's. Plus, there were no save points mid-dungeon. And OH NOES, you actually had to level a bit.

having to grind out levels is hardly what i call difficult. more annoying than anything.

But even if you grind, you still can't just spam your big spells like you can in pretty much every FF from IV-on.
