The PS3 is in development but honestly, it just doesn't matter. Play the games that EXIST right now, let Snoy come up with their next over-hyped all-purpose DVD player by themselves.

Although I must say, if they release it by the year 2004, I think most of the PS2 owners are going to be REALLY pissed...

what I heard was that they were going to cut the PS2's lifeline from the original 5 years to 3 years, so that would probably mean that PS3 will be out sometime 2004.

I've heard that rumor too, but I found it highly doubtful and if they actually do that I think they'll end up regretting it. If I spent all night in the freezing cold to buy a 300 dollar system that didn't get a good game for almost a year like the PS2, I'd be REALLY pissed if they stopped supporting it after 3 years and there's no way I'd buy a PS3.

Well no matter when, PS3 is bound to come out sometime. I'd say 2004 or 5 sounds cool, but still thats not a huge life for the very expensive PS2, so i'm not gonna think how much PS3 will cost. Probably alot.

Why can't systems last awhile like back when the NES came out. IT lasted from 1985 till 1993 (maybe 1994) that is almost 10 years. The SNES lasted from 1990 till about 1997 I beleive. Now its not 2 years later there all ready thinking up a new system that will cost more money. I figure the NExt systems to come out will be about 400 to 500 bucks. I think its all the competition. Companies are constantly trying to out do each other with better systems that they forget about the fact we gotta spend a arm and a leg to buy the damn things.

I was dissapointed the ps2 didn't even have a freakin demo disk. first week I owned it I did nothing but watch dvd's and play my old ps1 games on it.

They had one oyu could mail off for, but considering I bought my ps2 dec 17th and STILL haven't gotten the demo disk I think they should have just included it with the system.

these are extended lives. The PS would be from 1995 to 2002 if you look at it that way. Dominant systems last that long. no PS3 until late 2005 or 2006. PS2 will still push on when the PS3 comes out and will phase out near the end of 2006/2007 respectively. assuming PS2 will be dominant. Systems without a lot of support die early, Saturn(94-98(99?)). Dreamcast (98(99?)-2001) 3DO(HA!)JAGUAR(HA!HA!)

Even if they do release PS3 early, I have a feeling games will still be produced for PS2 for a long time (well, long time technologically speaking.) It would be a really bad marketing move for Sony to release a PS3 in the next couple of years. There are so many new consoles, including Sony's own PS2, that not many people are going to run out and buy another new one.

Of course, what might make sense would be for Sony to make a "PS3" which is actually a portable PS2. I mean, part of the reason for PS1's popularity was its portability, and now that's something they're advertising for GameCube. (they just came out with a portable GameCube monitor). You can't do something like that with a PS2; it's too big.

I got my ps2 when it came out...i was really rather dissapointed with the game selection and the lines and lines of people numerous anxiety attacks and the flu were all my sacrifices to purchase ps2 lol now a ps3?! HA the hell with that, i think sony needs to worry more about the ps2 and its future and less about another system...with the exception of FFX , GTA3 , State of Emergency and MGS2 ( and even mgs2 wasnt all that great ) the ps2 has crap game backing and just like DC , Saturn and systems alike...ps2 is following in the footsteps and x-box is creeping right behind them just like the saturn and ps1...sony took sega by surprise while saturn took thier time and down went sega.


Bottom line if sony dont get thier act together and ps2 falls under they can keep thier ps3.

i heard its comin out end of 2005...and i also heard sony's goin up to ps9, and that will be in a couple decades or so, but there will be a ton of these sooner or later. the graphics are gonna be so mindblowing, like you cant tell from a movie and stuff.

Yup I've heard about this too... I read somewhere they're gonna release in the end of 2004 or in 2005. I really don't know how to react to this... Sony people aren't stupid, but what are they gonna do to it that it would bring something NEW to the consoles that are already released? Cause if it doesn't it's gonna be a big flop for sure. I'm a bit bigoted about this... :notgood:

In the June issue of PSM it said something about the PS3 that nobody is going to beleive!!! It said the PS3 is supposed to have 1,000 times the power of PS2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It says:

"PS3 is going to be very powerful- 1,000 times more powerful than PS2 if Okamoto's(Sony's chief technical engineer) group has their way and developer demands are met. To accomplish this, Okamoto suggests that PS3 may need to adopt the "distributed computing" model used by scientific researchers to process large amounts of information. Essentially, this futuristic vision foresees PS3's cooperating over the internet to crunch chunks of data for everyone on the network-so, for example, your PS3 might be producing graphics for your freind's system while you're browsing game saves or other tasks that don't use very much of your CPU's power."

It also says at the end that Okamoto speculates the PS6 or PS7 may utilize biotechnology.

that is insane! I am all set with my ps2 for years as long as it makes good games. and the ps2 and gamecube both have portable moniters( and yes, i realize the post that said that was 2 and a half months old).

2005, that was the date announced before the PS2 was released. And it will be awesome, I cant wait. Especially since it should be way faster, and faster is better. But I have a real good feeling almost all the games for it will have the choice to go online. Which Im not complaining.

maybe and it will do 59999999999999 tera flops a second and will display 1 terra polygons a second with alpha blended highly dynamic pixel definition and will provide 1 million sound channels simultaneously.:D

If you wait long enough it will drop price(just like the PS2)...and just like the PS2 can play PS1,maybe the PS3 can play PS2(sony will have to do that because thier PS3 will not sell so good if the PS3 can't play PS2)...its a very good ability of the PS2,its something the other consoles don't have.

There's this person who owns a gaming store down town, and he gets all the inside release of everything. And little do people know that there is already a PS 3 and 4 in existence!!! But only 1 of each in the whole world.

I believe that this is true because I saw a picture of a PS3 on the Internet yesterday(Can't remember the website though) but they said it can play PSOne, PS2, PS3, DVD, CD, and it has high speed internet access 1.5 Ghz. If I can find the website again I'll post it up.

If the picture looks like a Black SNES but smaller..... it's a fake.

Heck the PS3 Logo is BOUND to be different from the PS2 Logo.

I heard that the PS3, is just a little black box. That connect through a modem or cable, to your nearest 'Super-computer'.

And you play through that, and you don't buy games they're made and put on all the supercomputers. So it will be cheaper than normal.

But I think this is all a hoax.

PS33 or PS300 i will just get the console with Final Fantasy on it! any other good games are just a add on for me
