Ive played all currently avaiable ff games from the main series (ie not 12)
although ive only played 1,2 and 3 via emulation.

Chocobo racing (my friend owns)

and i saw Ergheiz (spelling?) in a shop once. I bet it's really rare. But i got rayman and gran turismo 2 instead.

oh i rented ehrgeiz a couple times, like it was a fighting game that had cloud and sephiroth but there was also some rpg-like thing in it...weird game.

i v got ps versions of ff1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,x,x2, the pc version of 8, and ff tactics. thats the ffs games i got

out of the movies i v got ff:legend of the crystals, ff7:advent children, ff7:last mission, and ff:spirits within.

of the other games by square i v got kh, kh2, dragonquest, galarions:ash, staroceans2 , chrono cross, chrono trigger.

of the other similar games i v got legend of dragoons, magna carta,

out of these i v only played x2, x, 9,pc version of ff8, fftactics, kh, kh2, galarions:ash and staroceans2, magna carta, legend of dragoons, chrono trigger, chrono cross.

i havn't had time to play through the rest and ff7 is very painful on the fingers

simply dont have the time to go out and hunt for the rest - and i didnt bother to buy any of the stuff that came out for the x-box

i v actually lost my copy of legend of dragoons and chrono cross but havnt had time to go out and buy another copy.

I havent played much of the final fantasy series...

I've only played:

FF3 - 3/4 way through (dont really want to finish it, nice game though)

FF7 - finished it (only finished it last year because I didn't understand the movie, and the movie sucks now)

FF8 - finished (the best FF ive played so far)

and thats it.... no jokes...... honest.

I dont really like RPG's that much..... I like playing Raiden X, 1945, and Time Crisis, you know the fast paced shotting ones :smrt:

most ppl who have played most of the ff would disagree with you Tryphloznix, most ppl say ff8 is among the worst - but like you i think otherwise.

ff8 pc was the first ff i played(dec99 to jan2000) and i was hooked,since then i v been collecting ff's - in the pc version its easier to get some rare items since the cd has chocoboworld as well - if you were playing on ps you would have to buy a pocket station and the chocoboworld game to get some unique items. - now what was this tread about?

OK.. i've only played 3 or 4 of them FF X,X-2,tactics and a bit of 8 and 9

scott you havnt really gotten into it yet ma man. these are some of the best games ever made (if not the best).
even in the older ones, even though the graphics isnt much, they manage to look attractive - in a vintage sort of way - and the stories are pretty well thought out.
- playin ffs gives us a little time out from work stress etc, which - at least for me - few other games manage to do.

P.S. You forgot to include PSP in your list of consoles. Y'know, for Dirge of Cerberus. And GBA for Tactics Advance. And a cell phone for FF Mobile.

i was gonna say the same thing as GG4ever here but i refrained cos technically ROKI is right, in order to play "ALL" the ffs you would need all the consoles mentioned by both of you and a pocket station as well. and a good understanding of Japanese as well BTW.

there are a few ffs that were never translated and never ported. there was a web page listing any and all ff related games by square - and there are a few i v never heard of any where else.
(i'll post a link when i find it again - i saw it a few years back.)

on the other hand you can play all of these on pc via emulators, lets not forget games are made using pc's no matter what the end console, its always a pc at the making stage.
you could even find adaptors for nes cartridges and ps/ps2 memory cards if you know where to look - in that respect all you need is a pc (and lots of adaptors - and super geek know how on how to use them)

there are some ppl out there who are actually doing this - not me though -

i m quite happy with the psx and ps2 - i prefer using psx whenever possible cos IMO the original psx is a much better console than the ps2 anyday - sony was obviously too leniant when it came to quality control and design of the ps2 - resulting in severely flawed console that i have to struggle with. (i v owned 3 and know a lot of ppl who've similar issues)

I've at least tried all of them upto IX, including MQ, but excluding tactics.

Only one I ever actually completed was VI, and that was quite a while ago.

I've played them all... but I haven't beaten them all by far. This includes Mystic Quest and Crystal Chronicles. I didn't play III for V for very long. I had downloaded the emulators to play those two before they were released in the US. Since I couldn't read japanese I didn't get very far lol.

FF8 for the PC.. is just as retarded as it is for the PS. I didn't like that game. Looks the same, but to be honest, the backgrounds still used the same resolution as a regular TV, but it had enhanced 3D character models. SO it really didn't make much sense. I wasn't impressed. I only got it cause FF8 played on my PS2 would glitch on me after getting the floating university. I also used to have Legend of the Dragoon. I got pretty far in the game.. never beat it, but damn that was a f un game.

Yep played them all and own the first four still in the Japanese box, like they sold day one in the store. Best remakes so far are the PSP ones I think for I & II but still love to take out the PS1 versions of the games. Just something about the black disk brings back the great memories. Best final version of the series has to be FFX International with English subtitles and new table. Last of the greatest old format I think was FFIX with its water color painted backgrounds and of Nobou at the turntable. Played the remakes to see the changes, the ones on the GBA are really great and have the feel like the originals.

I own them all except for Final Fantasy XI. I REFUSE to play that online abomination. I just don't agree with "Pay to Play".

Wow, all I have to say is wow.

I beat FF 4,5,6,7,10,and 12 from the main series. I got the final boss of FF 8 but wasn't strong enough to beat it, delayed levelling up, and ended up not beating it. I only played 10 hours or so of FF 10. I played like 30 hours of FF XI. I can't wait for FF XIII! :)

You should at least try to finish 8, also, where the heck is 9 on that list? You're missing the best Final Fantasy.

Well the best of the KH games I have is the International one for KH2 that has the GBA game remade on special disc. Totally cool but they did not do the English translations on that part, so you really have to be good at that one. If your really into the square games should always check for the final mix or international version after the games been out. Be warned though that FFXII is part of these remakes but does not have English menus. Most the rest always do and have extras that are worth getting.

I've played FF I through X (I didn't finish them all though). I think FF IV & FF VII are the best so far.

I've also heard the soundtracks to all these games...I'll rate them below.

What is the most obscure Final Fantasy game or movie that any of you have seen ? Looks likes most of us have played the main stream ones. I have to say this "Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystal" was a new one on me to watch and I would love to get my hands on the Chinese Famicom "Advent Children" that was made.

I see the GBA remakes, but I'm talking about the Final Fantasy Adventure games. If you count those, anyway.

So far the ONLY two FF I never played was FFXI and FFCC : My Life as a King.

first final fantasy i got into was X, got X-2,XII, VII,VIII and IX afterwards.
Tried to get to like the crystal chronicles games. Gamecube game was awful, Wiiware game was interesting until the novelty wears off and you get irritated by the childish cutscenes.

Other ripoffs do not seem to attract me to give them a chance.

That's not as far out of reach as you might think~

i was working my way through ffx2 when my ps2slim wrecked the dvd(you know the issue where the lens cable comes into contact with the dvd), i repaired it once by replacing the whole lens apparatus(half the price of a ps2), a week later it did it again, this time i just replaced the cable(30 bucks), it did it again a week later, five dvds wrecked so far.

the sony dealer said they dont know how to fix it anymore and they dont have the fat version for sale, thats nearly the end of my gaming life... if anyone has any ideas... i'm all ears...i am so not buying another ps2 slim its a complete design defect.

II-VI, I played remakes on either the PS or DS. As for FFI, I have the actual NES game which I beat.

Heres my record (Im from the UK so our first FF was 7)

FFI - Beat it on the GBA for the first time, then on the PSP, I played around with it on the PS1 and a NES emulator but never beat either of them.

FFII - same as above, beat GBA and PSP versions.

FFIII - Beat it on the DS and messed about a little on an emulator.

FFIV - Beat on the PS1 first, then the DS version, have the GBA version but never got round to beating it.

FFV - Beat it on the PS1 first, have completed it on the GBA and SNES emulator a few times (its one of my favs)

FFVI - Beat on PS1 then GBA

FFVII - Beat many times on PS1

FFVIII - as above, maybe more then FF7

Even though Final Fantasy Adventure was called Final Fantasy Gaiden it spawned the Seiken Densetsu series "Mana series". Adventure was never a Final Fantasy game at all, Makai Toshi Sa-Ga, it was the first SaGa game. America liked to name everything Final Fantasy back in the day because it was doing so well. Sword of Mana is a GBA remake of Final Fantasy Adventure.

Anyway since everybody is making a list here's mine:

Final Fantasy I - Finished. Played NES,PSP and GBA versions.
Final Fantasy II - Finished. Played NES, PSP, and GBA versions.
Final Fantasy III - Only played a litte. NES.
Final Fantasy IV - Played only halfway through cuz it's too damn hard. DS
Final Fantasy V - Currently playing. SNES
Final Fantasy VI - Finished. PS1(pretty much the same as SNES only a few added cutscenes). Best Storyline. Amazing game.
Final Fantasy VII - Finished. PS1 obviously. And while we're at it, this game is VERY overrated.
Final Fantasy VIII - Finished. PS1. This game is GREAT. And maybe a little underrated in the good way and overrated in the bad way. Hope that makes sense.
Final Fantasy IX - Finished. PS1. I didn't like it at all. It sucked REALLY bad.
Final Fantasy X - PS2. Great game. And exactly the right amount of rated. lol
Final Fantasy XII - PS2. Very strategic. Love it.
Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core: Finished. PSP. Did you know that this game sold more than the SNES FF's combined? It was pretty good though.
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus:Finished. PS2 Completely pointless and not even slightly entertaining.
Final Fantasy Tactics: Played about halfway through. PSP. Same reason as IV.
Final Fantasy X-2: Finished. PS2. Complete chick flick. Gameplay was promising though.
Final Fantasy Dissidia: Finished(and i'm not talking about story mode only...) PSP. This has got to be the most addictive game of the series. 500+ hours on this game... Thankfully i got sick of it. I was concerned about my health, you know.

That's news to me. And FFXI's fees aren't 'hidden' at all - they're plainly stated on the website for each region. About the only 'hidden' fees I can think of are for optional services like the stupid mail filter for your POL email account.

Seems like someone just got shirty about having to pay to play the game though (not you I mean, whoever was stupid enough to try to sue SE).

Getting back on topic though, I refuse to participate in this stupid ego-flexing exercise, other than mentioning that it's not how many games you've played that's important, but as long as you enjoyed them, and I've enjoyed most of the FF titles I've played, other than one or two examples which shall remain nameless. :)

I guess it's really up to you, but I really recommend playing it at least once.

FFX has the best level up and battle system IMO.

FFX has a great battle system and I like the sphere grid as well, but I disliked so much of the rest. I might play it a second time in the near future.

Do yourself a favor: play the originals for the classic titles (1-6) and also for FFT. I didn't like how the music ported for the PSP version of FFT in some things, and the originals are better for FF1-FF6. Sure, there are extra videos, voice acting in some cases, etc, but there is just a different feel that I didn't think was entirely positive.

You don't need one. NES systems are like super rare and only collectors would bother trying to get one. Get an emulator and play.

Emulators aren't always illegal. Technically to use one you need BIOS from the original console (which you need to own to obtain) and you can use the original game copies to play (even cartridges although that's slightly more complicated). So it's the way most people use them that's illegal.
