Does anyone else think square should make a FF7 remake? You know like have the graphics like FFX, and they could make it own by making cloud have masamune as ultimate wep/or have sephiroth playable....Thats just my thoughts

There is a "FFVII International", which might be the remake you're referring to. As far as I know, the only difference is a fourth disc with spell listings, a monster encyclopedia and other little extras.

On a side note, FFs 8 and IX also have international versions, with, I guess similar additions, and the same thing is in production for FFX, including an extra ending.

Same here, nampg. FFVII is finished, though.

Yeah, FFVII International and the rest of the "PSOne Book Series", or whatever they call it doesn't sound like too much to rant and rave about to me. I also don't know if there'll be PC versions or anything.

Yuffie Strife

Yeah, FFVII's 'remake' will just have a few added parts to it, pretty much like Dark Leviathan said. Nothing spatacular.

The graphics might be slightly improved, but that's no guarantee.

FF7/8/9 international is actually something different..

There was going to be a rereleased version of 7/8/9 on the PS2, at one point, I don't know if Square ever gave a definite answer either way..

As far as I know the International version of ff7 was only a re-release of ff7 with some of the american added features such as Emerald and Ruby weapon and a few little additions that werent really anything to scream about, hence the title "International".

The remakes or are different but again as far as ive heard the changes arent really that big and im pretty sure that ive read an article by Squaresoft stating they have no plans to release it outside Japan(although im probaly wrong).

That is kinda rotten on redoing Final Fantasy 10 already with a new ending. I mean all the people who just spent 50 bucks on it, and there going to expect us to pay 50 bucks more for it? I won't do it.

I might go for remakes of ff7 and ff9 IF they are majorly different.

Maybe they will be nice and give Final Fantasy 10 owners a discount or something?

I heard that they were gonna rerelease not just 7, 8 and 9, but 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 as well. I also heard they'd add a few new tricks onto each one (don't ask me what, I just hear these things). If they do, 1 through 6 will definitely be on my to buy list.

02-14-2002, 10:34 PM
What I last heard was Square was just planning to release these in Japan, and possibly they've scrapped it. Haven't heard much else since.

IMO, they should leave the games as they are. With the exception of FF8, the stories are fine as they are. Graphics..., well I'm not really a Graphics Whore, so I don't really give a shit. If anything, Square should finish FF7 - as long as they don't affect the story in any way.

Zack
02-14-2002, 10:36 PM
I hope they didnt scrap it, that would suck. FFVII was an awesome final fantasy, but i think they should create another one.

It would be a good idea to do that the remake u can have black and white materias and sephiroth can join your team make new and harder weapons becasue sephiroth has truned good all this sould follow the end of the game but cloud does not kill sephiroth he truned him good:D

What reason would they have to rerelease a game... that could already be played on that system... without changing anything special that you couldn't download in the form of a guide to the game? This strikes me as an extraordinarily greedy move by Square.

Corey
07-01-2002, 10:28 PM
I would puke if Sephiroth was available to join your party. It would ruin-- NO! Destroy the story. Besides I really doubt that Cloud would make amends with Sephiroth while Aeris's corpse is plunging into the depths.

But, a FFVII would be splendid. *Imagines Midgar in FFX graphics.* Ooooh yeah...

In the remake Aeris wouldnt die, Turks could join you and Zack could stay alive or somethink, better graphics would be cool but wouldnt really matter to me, different storyline and i ending that ends the game! hey but thats only hope ing

Agent0042
07-12-2002, 12:37 AM
Aeris died for the Planet, I don't want to see her coming back to life. Cloud and his party and the Turks come to a sort of understanding, but to see them join your party would ruin their neat detached coolness.

Here are some of the things I would like to see in a remake:

- Better Graphics

- New and tougher monsters and new Weapons as well.

- A completely revamped Gold Saucer. This is my favorite idea. Think of the potential for this. All new games in Wonder Square. Many different tracks to choose from in Chocobo Square and new music to go with them, with newer and tougher chocobo opponents to compete against. New and special plays available throughout the game in Event Square.

Neo Xzhan

The game must remain unaltetered. Only better graphics.

I heard something about this months ago, but I heard it would something like final fantasy 7 and a half, like a sequal to FF7. The game starts where FF7 ends, and it goes from there. That would be the illest idea they could possibly do, cus the ending to FF7 could have been a bit more I think. And we all need to know what happened with Cloud and Tifa. Midgar was wrecked as well, so that needs to be rebuilt and loads of thought could go into making it one of the best games square has done. You gotta have faith and hope they do it.

my family, will probably buy it..
we like buy all the games though.. just to say we have it & my brother will beat it... usual thing with a new game, he will wanna play it alot till he like beats it & thinks of it as nothing.. i wish they would make international version where i live though... that'd be really something..

like some of you said, it would be nice to have more qualities like..
~Better Graphics
~Harder Monsters{& bosses, too!}
~Not Aeris coming back to life!

I had heard of this, at some other site they asked you to sign a petition so they could finish the remake.. i'm probably getting this mixed up.. They said that SQUARE, was putting aside the remakes for awhile and stuff... but this was like a month ago, but don't matter?!

Either Square aren't telling us something, or Gamespot have got their information confused. These screenshots look remarkably familiar to the ones from the recently publicised Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children DVD that is being created.

That being said, anything FF7 would do well with this in terms of gameplay mostly:

1. Spells to each element!!! Where was Air1, Water1, and such?!
2. Huge amounts of sidequests. Ones that give more characterization, limit breaks, materia, money, any kind of progression.
3. Lets see the enemies! Like Chrono Cross or Xenosaga. Lets admit random battles are somewhat annoying. >< Maybe have to use stealth a bit more and such.
4. Keep the "attacked from both sides" and "first strike" stuff!
5. Weapon, armor, accessory, and item devolopment. Like using items to strengthen or alter weapons, making items or growing items, like the loco weed.
6. Far more everything. Characters having like 20 limit breaks, more materia, more new commands.
7. Character specific skills. Kinda like FF6. I felt characters should have their own special tributes aside from limit breaks and initial stats, and the equipment.
8. A new adventure system. Where you don't just walk around...like say (bad example) Tomb Raider. Climb things, push things, jump, sprint, set traps for enemies, and such. Not just not run around and push levers. Lets explore the realm to the fullest.
9. Voice acting which can be turned on or off.
10. Possibly multiple paths, kinda like Chrono Cross. It increases the replay value.
11. New game option. Once you beat it, you open a game with say better stats, new cut scenes, new paths, more weapons, and such.
12. More hidden characters and secret limit breaks perhaps?
13. Stats that might be applicable to the game, like on Fable. Having higher speed would help you run faster, higher strength might help you break down doors, etc.
14. Swap out characters like FFX, maybe even its different activation style overdrive.
15. Use of different characters perspective. Example, Aeris may attract more men and get non playables to be nicer. Cloud may frighten people and get different responses. Use of different character for different responses.
16. High music quality, orchestrated or digitally perfected.
17. Top of the line graphics.
18. Use of environments perhaps like FFX. Examples: Pushing a boss of a ledge, or activating a near by machine.
Lets hope that sounds cool.

And above all....

SPOILER!

19. Optional Aeris save sidequest. Though I know many people are against it, if done correctly, they could add a lot of emotion and even more complexity. Maybe Aeris' spirit comes back to help finish the job before she has to go back or something like that. Either way, Sephiroth died at one point in time, having Aeris come back isn't truly a radical idea. And since it would be optional, I don't feel anyone should complain since they reserve the right to not go on the quest.

I really wish people would read the thread before posting - it would save me having to prove people wrong all the time.

Heretic, FF7-2 was a rumour - it was mentioned in passing by some SquareEnix staff when FF10-2 was announced. Obviously they were referring to what is now known as FF7:AC, which is a movie, not a sequel, or a remake.

Please double check your facts before posting them. It removes any preconception of your idiocy some people might harbour.

November 11, 2002 - In an interview with Japan's Dori-Maga (the former Dreamcast Magazine, now turned multi-platform), Square's Yoshinori Kitase made some comments regarding the possibility of a direct sequel to Final Fantasy
VII. Kitase has participated in the development of all Final Fantasy games since part five of the series and now heads the company's R&D 1 team which is currently working away at FFX-2.

"A sequel to FFVII?" comments Kitase while laughing. "In truth, there are many who'd like to make such a game, Nomura, who's working on Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, included. Many of the Square staff participated in the development of FFVII, and the memories are strong. Additionally, expressing the world of FFVII using today's technology would certainly be interesting (laughs).

"However, FFVII still has many fans," he continues. "We couldn't make a bad product (laughs)."

Continuing in response to the question of his team's plans for the term beginning April of 2003 (FFX-2 comes out in March), Kitase says, "Our plans are not yet set for the coming term. Whether we'll work on a brand new title or a sequel to a title that we already have I don't know
yet, but I'd personally like to make something new."

So, to recap, Kitase laughs a lot and many of the Square staff has interest in a sequel to FFVII while Kitase himself is more interested in working on something new. The majority of Kitase's R&D 1 staff worked on FFVII, though, so if were were to see a FFVII-2 (a game which, we fear, would almost certainly feature a love sequence involving Tifa and and jive-talkin' Barret), Kitase and his team would be the likeliest source.

Stay tuned for more.

i can understand why the website doesnt have it up yet, but what about others who have subscriptions to gamer magazine? why isnt anyone backing u up?
