It's a fake Final Fantasy VIII-2, but that is an actual character for an upcoming game. I read about it in a magazine a while ago, when this picture first surfaced, but I cannot remember the name of the game. It is indeed a real game coming out soon.

meh, other than the hair color, I don't see any real resemblance to Rinoa... and judging by how FFVIII played out and how Square developed their characters, I don't think they'd ever put her in that. it totally goes against her nature and style.

anyways, I'd rather see a remake of FFVIII than an actual sequel... cuz if they screw up, it'll probably put an even worse vibe on FFVIII (honestly, I have no idea where that bad vibe came from, I mean, FFVII was good, but to see some people calling FFVIII crap is pretty upsetting...). So a nice remake for FFVIII would be so very welcome. heck, a movie'd be nice too. :P

I know this idea is really out in left field, but I think Squeenix's resources would be better spent making high-quality, new games, rather than remaking sub-par games and/or sequels to said games.

JFTR, Squeenix is responsible for more than just FF. They're also responsible for the Chrono "series," the Dragon Warrior (Quest) series, the Star Ocean series, the Romancing Saga (SaGa Frontier in the West) series, and probably a few others that I can't think of after getting off work.

Also, JFTR, I've noticed that only the FFVII and VIII forums contain threads like this. Hm...

It's completely obvious that little-to-no work was put into the rereleases (other than a few cheapo extras), seeing some of the stupid problems that they have--loading issues, mainly.

Wow, it must be cheaper here because I can get a new copy of VIII for 15.99 USD and the rest for about 9.99 USD.

There are a pair of Gamestops and an EB Games in my town, and all three establishments suck. One of the Gamestops didn't even carry PSX games, and the 99% of the games carried by the other two were either completely worthless, had no case, no manual, or some combination of the three. During my last search through all three (about a month ago), only one halfway decent game had a case and a manual: the original Parasite Eve. So if I'm to get PSX games, I have to go through eBay. While I could have found cheap auctions and probably spent less were I patient, having lost Lunar: SSSC four times in a week, I went with the "buy it now" option. They were 15-20 USD, plus 5-7 in shipping.

Final Fantasys 7,8,9 can all be brought brand new at gpstore.co.nz, they go for around $79-95 NZD (New Zealand) each, but its worth it, i've seen FFIX go for $130 NZD recently on NZ's equivalent to ebay, this was before they rereleased them in our online stores. So it's still a popular game, as are 8 and 7

I just HAD to join one of these threads to find out first, if Final Fantasy VIII-2 is actually going to be released; and second, to figure out which systems it's coming out on. I owned the original Final Fantasy VIII and I LOVED it!!! I liked the Junctioning System, I liked the weapon upgrades, I liked the card game, I liked the Guardian Force summoning system... I LOVE THAT GAME!!!

Then, I bought a PlayStation 2 after my niece spilled an entire glass of grape juice into my original PlayStation. As it turns out (at least, it's what happened to me), Final Fantasy VIII doesn't play past when the SeeD Garden is about to become mobile. I was devastated!! ... and I couldn't scalp my sister's kid in front of her, that would have been rude. Then, my Final Fantasy VIII came up missing, and I haven't gotten to play it since.

And now, I'm hearing a lot of rumors about a sequel to Final Fantasy VIII. I'm pretty sure they won't bring Squall back into it, although they should-- or, at least Squall's, Rinoa's, Zell's, Quistis's and Selphie's kids; I guess maybe even Seifer's kids, too... there has to be a bad guy, you know.

I wouldn't mind an update on the Guardian Force Summoning system... new GF's mixed in with some of the old ones... maybe Ifrit, Shiva, Diablo and Bahamut, and maybe even Eden.... sounds like a good idea to me.
