I've played the game a couple times already, but I always miss some stuff (I'm on third try with 97% completion). At the end of the second game, I got Episode Complete everywhere but two places. So in this new game, to get the Mascot Dressphere, do I have to get Episode Complete everywhere, or just at the places I missed?

I believe you need to get an Episode Complete everywhere again.

Indeed, I think you can skip bevelle. Pretty hard too. But the mascot isn't all that great or is it just me?

That's silly to say. Considering that it gives a huge boost to most stats and allows the use of abilities from two other jobs, I'd say it's probably the best in the game.

Whoa whoa whoa --- false rumor. Absolutely and completely, 100% incorrect. In order to get Mascot, you must get Episode Complete in [b]every[b/] area, including Bevelle. If you do not get Episode Complete in Bevelle, you will not get Mascot. I believe this mistaken info originates from the fact that once you start the Via Infinito sidequest, your airship status for Bevelle will change to "Mission," regardless of whether you previously got either Episode Concluded or Complete. But you must get Episode Complete for it or it's bye-bye Mascot.

The only skippable "Episode Completes" are Calm Lands - Chocobo Ranch and Macalania Woods - O'aka. You still have to get Episode Complete for both those sections, but the chocobo ranch/O'aka stuff is side-quest stuff that doesn't count towards Mascot.

The other important requirement is to make sure that you don't visit Zanarkand Ruins last. If you do, kiss goodbye to your Mascot, because the game won't automatically return to the Airship after you get your Episode Complete.

And yes, I verify --- you must get Episode Complete for every section within the playthrough that you're trying to get Mascot. I recommend Split Infinity's "Mascot Speed Guide" at GameFAQs. http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/game/562386.html

Damn, so I need to beat Trema to get Mascot?

No, no, no, no, no. All I'm saying is that the status indicator for Bevelle changes on the airship once you start that sidequest. But Episode status is determined when you first arrive in Bevelle in Chapter 5.

Again --- just check that guide I mentioned --- it'll tell you exactly what you need to in each section before (and during, if necessary) Chapter 5 in order to get Episode Complete for that section. A lot of the time, it's nothing.

Isn't the Den of Woe also skippable with the main episode being about the Youth League Contest (or fighting through the Youth League if you gave the Awesome Sphere to New Yevon)?

Sorry about this other question, but I read that if you do go to Zanarkand last, as long as you follow it with one of the optional missions (the ones you cited) that takes you back to the airship you get mascot then? Is this true?

Due to some strange thinking on Squareenix' side, there is a funny 'glitch' in the game, which revolves around Zanarkand area. If you leave it for last, you won't get Mascot once you get episode complete for the area.

If this unfortunate event happens anyway (you got Episode Complete everywhere, but you cleared Zanarkand last), all is not lost. You should attempt to get Episode Complete for one of following missions: Den of Woe dungeon in Mushroom Rock or Chocobo dungeon in facility ruins in Calm Lands. Once you've obtained Episode Complete by completing the mission, your girls are teleported to Celsius and Mascot will be yours. However, if you've cleared out even these two before Zanarkand, then your chances for Mascot are nil.

Yeah, it's skippable. I simply forgot that particularly sidequest also displays an "Episode Complete" tag when you're done.

And I personally haven't ever tried doing Zanarkand last myself, but if it says in that FAQ that you can trigger the scene using one of the optional Episode Completes, then I buy it.

Honestly, though, I can't understand why anyone would save Zanarkand's Episode Complete for last unless somehow they got the idea in their head that it was either important or necessary to get all the Episode Completes in order by location. After all, you get Episode Complete pretty much right away after visiting there, whereas with several of the other locations, such as Bikanel Desert, there's a fair amount of rigamarole you have to go through first before you can get Episode Complete.
