If I'm not mistaken it is never mentioned. It is just refured to as "the world" or "the planet".
Though I could be wrong.

What's the big deal anyway?? Why are you so keen to label it?

Kylee
07-23-2006, 06:50 AM
because if it is called Terra then I found a small connection between FF8 and FF9 i guess its not that important but now im really curious.

Miss. Rabbitsworth
07-23-2006, 06:55 AM
And if its called Spira, I can see a connection between FF8 and FF10, hehehehehe.

Kylee
07-23-2006, 06:58 AM
See but wouldnt it be a little exciting to find a connection?? *shrugs* i just want to find out.

FFIX is known for it many references to previous Final Fantasy games. You could find as many connections as you want, but they're still entirely different universes.

Cornsey's right, and if you think that a reference denotes a connection between the worlds, then FFIX is connected with Star Trek, and the doctor in Lindblum is Bones McCoy.

The only connection between any Final Fantasy games that don't have to do with sequals, is FFIX and FFVII. Remember when Zidane was looking at a huge sword? He said that he remember someone with blonde spikey hair that carried something like it. But then again, it just might not be anything.

As for this whole name thing, it's just called Earth because, as said many times before me, the world was never labeled.

Every FF Game has connections, but IX was the one with most references...

i.e Nor Cloud or Squall shall hinder us or something

Wrong. Final fantasy IX map was most similar to Final Fantasy 7.

No now youre talking about .Hack That was called "The World"
But im sure the FF8 world has a name...maybe its just one of those details that you gotta pay extra attention to. *shrugs* but im not talking about maps. I am talking about the world that they walk on and what not..like how our world is earth..yeah.

Hex Omega
07-24-2006, 03:25 AM
No, there is no name for it. It is not mentioned in the game. Not ONCE.

Kylee
07-24-2006, 03:27 AM
well ok then..but still...doesnt explain why seeds would be in FF9...

Kylee

no i dont mean actually in the game but in disc 3 in Oeilvert when you learn about the history of Terra it has a little section on seeds

Agent0042
07-24-2006, 03:54 AM
You're talking about this right:

Voice: "Visitors, listen well... This is the record of our civilization...
The seeds' decline was not our fault... All vegetation and...
vessels...died out... The decay of our Terra...triggered it all...

I don't see how there's any relation. Seeds isn't spelled "SeeDs" and it simply refers to the vessels, the seeds for the founding of their planet, basically. I suppose it's possible, but I really doubt it's any sort of reference. And even if it is, here's why --- Final Fantasy IX is chock-full of references to past FF games and other games and elements of pop-culture. Simply loaded with them. It doesn't mean they're actually in any way connected. And I again, verify, Final Fantasy VIII's world has no stated name, never, at any time.

I remember reading that it was called Gaia/Gaea, not sure which spelling it was...

Agent0042
07-24-2006, 05:11 AM
Gaia was the name of one of the planets in FFIX. But I don't recall ever seeing anything referring to it as Gaia in FFVIII and unless somebody can reference a script or some other reasonably authentic document on the Internet that specifies a name, I will continue to believe that it has no official one.

It's Gaea OK END OF STORY KAPISHHE OK! ok well there's ur anwser AND NOBODY ARGUE OR I WILL GET MY KATANA OUT! ( and that ain't perdy)

Agent0042
07-28-2006, 02:17 AM
Well, I'll just continue to be as unimpressed by your katana as by your lack of information that actually proves that the name is "Gaea."
