Tekken 4 will be better I think. Virtual fighter wasn't ever that good. Tekken was always great.

I have to say both... and I do have a GOOD reason to back that up.

See, Tekken battles can be won by pressing whatever (aka Button Smashing). A newbie could defeat anyone if they just hit whatever and have good timing. Unless the other person knows a way around it, that person could be using the same button again and again and again just to beat the guy. However, the controls are well done and new people can catch on really fast. The combos are easy/hard to do, but that depends on who your using and what your doing. There is also an assload of characters to pick from. However, most of these characters moves aren't different. They are more or less an "append" or upgrade of the character. There is also the problem of ultra quick battles... if I was fighting normally, it would take me 10 seconds to kill a guy that doesn't know how to block. And very little more if the guy can block and fights back.

VF games need a little bit of thinking. If you hit whatever, they can counter and really make you look bad. A good sense of the attacks and combos are needed for this game. However, because of the other factors in this game (ring outs, jumps being WAY too high, characters getting up really slow, bad voice acting) and the controls aren't free enough (by this, I mean it would take awhile for a new person to get used to the physics of this game), people would side with Tekken. There isn't much to choose from but they are very different from each other, very different fighting styles for each. This game is also more realistic, Tekken is very un-realistic in terms of physics (though in Virtual Fighter, you can jump really really high... eh then again...). Virtual Fighter also does not have super-moves or attacks that can drain a guy's life from full to only a few pixels.

Well... there you have it...

BTW: I vote for DOA3 too...

:D

That's precisely why Teken is a bad game. Its just combo mashing. Do you enjoy tapping your little programmed combos in? That's not gameplay.

I vote for Virtua Fighter.

I hate all the 3D fighting games so I won't vote. I own the following:

Virtua Fighter (hate it)
Virtua Fighter 2( hate it)
Soul Caliber (decent)
Dead or Alive 2 (decent, best of the listed)

There all the same other then new chairactors and scenes. The Controls on them (especially the Virtua Fighter Series) is just horrible! I honestly don't see how ANYBODY can enjoy these games. I can understand people likeing Dead or Alive 2 and Soul Caliber. At least those have some control to them. The best fighting game ever was Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Battle for playstation. I got the import of it and played it like crazy. IT is more of a 2D game but still great!

I remember playing Tekken 1 on my cousins psx a loooooooong time ago and not likeing it. If I remember right it has extreamely slow movement??

I used to like Tekken for precisely the reasons MK mentioned. Now I hate it for those exact same reasons. It was easier for me to catch on to Tekken than any other game, so I was like, "Hey, this is cool!" Then I realized it was boring as hell because whoever started first and knew the better combo won (or whoever hit the best buttons.)

And speaking of Tekken 4, most people think it's going to be the greatest 3D fighter ever... until they play it. At least that's been my experience. Seriously, even the Tekken fanatics all seem to think it's crap.

Virtua Fighter is SO much more complex than Tekken, and for that it is a much better game - it is VERY, VERY oriented in skill and just nothing else. A lot of people come away from it thinking it is a button masher's game but a button masher would not stand for a moment against someone who knew what they were doing in VF (believe me, I know from experience O_O) I positively suck at VF. I don't think I've ever done a single combo in it, and I can't beat the CPU, never have. But I still have way more fun playing it than Tekken, because I appreciate it so much.

I don't use combos in it either. But this has to do with my utter contempt for combos in fighting games.

Not using combos can help you appreciate a seemingly combo-dependent game like rival schools, and it will make you realize the obvious shortcomings of a game like Tekken.

I see Combos as TV ads and stuff... they look amazing but get VERY annoying when done again and again and again. I can't play Marval vs Capcom 2 without a person that does the same cheap combo over and over again.

Wow, +100 hit combo without supers... now can we play? =P

Marval vs Capcom 2 would be a fun game if you took out all the cheap players that does "BANG BANG BANG BANG... VIPER BEAM, BANG BANG BANG BANG... VIPER BEAM, BANG BANG BANG BANG, VIPER...HYPER VIPER BEAM" and those juggles that take 30 seconds off of your life

Anyways, moving back to 3d games. I remember back in the Tekken Tag days, a guy (using Bruce and Kazuya) kept doing the same damn combo again and again, (I believe it was Kazuya's God Wind Fist, tag out, B+3,4,3 or something like that) this combo could take 70% of your life or death if the machine has attack power set on Hi. At most, in VF, you could do a 3 or 4 hit combo with Pai or Lion. Also, you can't really run far in battle, you are close to each other most of the time... eh well, thats my stuff on this o_O

That's why I think MvC2 is, overall, a stupid game - because you CAN do that. If you can do it and it's a perfectly valid part of the game, it isn't cheap. It's just retarded. Any game where the combo meter can hit 99 and just keep going is stupid.

I think combos are good in games where they aren't ridiculous, like KOF, SF3, SFA, VF. I just hate the fact that I can't do them xD (I can pull of a few 3-hit ones if I'm lucky sometimes, though.)

VIRTUA FIGHTER all the way.

I've been a fan since the first game came out and I have them all. I just love the series and how much thinking and strategy is involved in the matches.

A match between two skilled opponents in a VF games is truly a sight to behold. I love VF!

Seriously? Well, that's... sad. Seriously O_o

Serves me right for ignoring the game after I got my ass handed to me in 3 combos at the arcade xD

First of all im not a big fan of fighting game by any stretch of the imagination. And second because of this i'm also not very good, a button basher would well describe me.

So i voted for tekken 4 the easier

it is sad really. With all this Tekken/MvC love, it makes me wonder why Nintendo doesn't take advantage of this with a new Killer Instinct. I remember why now. they decided to make a quality fighter. . .

Evil Ryu has some pretty cheap combos.

I've never been a fan of 3d fighters, cause they all just feel slow when you move, plus there's the whole button smashing problem in tekken.

I vote for Capcom vs. SNK 2. It gets rid of a lot of the cheapness of marvel vs cap, but still has all the cool stuff. plus the super moves aren't game-breakers like in marvel vs capcom (well, except for 2 of akuma's instant kills, but those are level 3 moves and pretty easy to miss with)

out of tekken or virtua fighter, i'd have to go with tekken because the few times i've played it, it was a hell of a lot more fun than when i played virtua fighter.

anyways, i'm not a 3d fan, so my opinion probably means jack to you, but i say capcom vs. snk 2 all the way.

You mean people actually do combos with Evil Ryu? I thought they just sat and did that lame-ass fireball the whole time xD

And yeah, I've never been much of a KI fan myself. If Nintendo wants a great fighter for the GameCube they should get a Japanese developer to do it. I love Rare, but Western developers and fighting games don't mix. X-Men Mutant Academy, anyone? :P
