Who the fuck is Nobou?

Also, I fail to see how there can be a fine line between supporters and haters. It's quite a clear line, actually.

It's quite shortsighted to think of nobuo the composer in terms of good or bad, with or against. From the perspective of a gamer, one can't possibly accept the idea that someone who has written so much music, for so many games, is either perfect or horrible. Musicians make good music and bad music, it's how it goes.
If there is a line seperating those who love nobuo and hate him, I suppose I am on the love side. Since time will show once he is gone, that the emotion he captured in the games is gone aswell. And we will all have to look forward to what is new.

Can not a single one of you read? We're typing about some jackass named Nobou (の棒), not Nobuo (信夫). See the difference (hint: if you don't see the difference, install the Japanese language pack to your computer)? Big difference.

Wait I know dude spelled nobuo wrong but are you saying there IS a nobou that he was talking about? My comments were intended towards nobuo not nobou or noubo.
WHOIS "Nobou Uematsu"?

You either like his music or you do not. Personally, he is a favourite of mine but I'm not going to stretch to saying he is brilliant as I respect all composers respectively.

A good composer. He have composed a lot of Final Fantasy Soundtracks.I particulary like the OST from FFVII Advent Children, composed by him.

I love his music pure and simple, he does a great job composing for the FF games and Advent Children. Though we haven't seen him in the newest 2 FF games. He was absent in bot DoC and FF XII. For FF XIII he is the composer of the theme, but Masashi Hamauzu is listed as the composer.

Alvinz
01-03-2007, 03:13 AM
Technically he did compose the final fantasy theme song that plays at the starting screen as well as when you want to load a saved game in FFXII. Also I think he did Kiss Me Goodbye.

I saw the man live a few months ago. I almost bawled my eyes out; incredible to watch someone go from playing an orchestrated piece I was convinced inspired the concept of perfection, to busting out the electric guitar and that mini piano...just wonderful.

youre right dude! I agree with you!
In the aspect of gaming music.. I can say that he is a god.. but what about people who are not that fond of vgms? Theyll probably say that Nobuo is just "good"..

Dont get me wrong here I am certainly on the love side, because for me, Nobuo fits every piece of his work into games...

Hmm.. wonder if there will be one who can better Nobuo?? hmmm.... its sad once time gets the best of him... no more catchy tunes and extremely expressive music!! huhuhu

The FF12 soundtrack isn't bad at all. It's not as thematic or mindblowing as all of Nobuo's scores seem to be, but I still very much enjoy some of the cues in FF12. Sakimoto is very good. Nobuo transcends "good."

As for the thread topic, I am obviously on Nobuo's side, wherever he goes. I think the Blue Dragon score is genius in parts of it, though i don't enjoy it AS MUCH as say ff6 or ff7, but it's still awesome.

Uematsu-san makes the best video game music!!!

Not just Final Fantasy X was amazing, but the following are good too:

Final Fantasy 3
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy 9
Final Fantasy 10 (obviously...)
Final Fantasy 11
Lost Odyssey

There is only one word to describe these masterpieces... IMPRESSIVE!!!

He is most definitely the king of VGM if you ask me. (with Mitsuda taking the silver medal..) A perfect example of his skills is the FFVI sountrack that really shows Uematu's diversity and knowledge on creating great and moving melodies.

I was lucky enough to attend the Distant Worlds concert in Stockholm this week. A magnificent concert!! And if that wasn't enough, I even met him on the street!! Got to shake his hand and talk a bit with him. A really nice guy just like I pictured him. Got my picture taken and left him with a mutual bow and an "arrigato" :) One of the greatest moments of my life! A humble genious! And it was really great to meet him like this instead of in a que of 100 or so fans at the meet & greet after the concert.

Nice vid there! I really wanted to meet Arnie Roth too but that's a different story. And it bugs me a bit that I didn't get a meet and greet ticket. I could have made a little more out of my meeting with Nobuo then. I didn't dreamed of actually meeting him at all. I though about the present-thing as well:) What did you give him?

And I'm sure you agree with me that he's not only a great composer but a great person as well.

I agree totally. Both Arnie Roth and Nobuo Uematsu are very easygoing and very kind . I gave him a souvenir from Greece , cups with ancient Greek paintings on them .

Actually, Nobuo is one of my least favorite (As is Koji). He definately caught me with a few tunes but most of his stuff eludes.

I am a huge fan of his work with The Black Mages, though. They. Freakin. Rock.

Edit: Just want to make it clear that I don't really care for most of his stuff, not that he isn't any good.
