Last Sunday i saw the Final fantasy 11 dvd collection on sale for 15. So i though i'd give it a try.
After a rather long update i finally got the game up and running and created a character.

well in the game i finally figured out some of the controls and started walking around.

(small problem)
For some reason the graphics are really blurry (like antialiasing), there doesn't seem to be any way to change the settings either which is a pain. So i'm stuck with the default (640x480?)

(Big problem)
And when i left the town to go outside after getting a mission, the game hung at the 'downloading data' screen.

and ive tried a few other websites but they're not much help so far.

If there is already a guide to ff11 somewhere on the site, could someone direct me there? any help would be great.

I'm giving the game a chance but so far it's not exactly thrilling me.

Well, if your computer sucks, it's going to freeze up like mad and it's going to look like crap.

First off, the Overlay Resolution (the 512x512 setting) will look pretty blurry. You may want to change it to 1024x1024 (Which is a bad idea) or registry hack it for around 700x700 (good idea). And turn off bump mapping.

But again, if your computer is freezing even when you zone, your computer isn't going to run this game well.

my computer is rather beefy though.

It's a p4 3gig
1gig ram
geforce fx 5600 (< okish)

it plays doom 3 and halflife 2 fine...

so i have to hack the registry to change any settings? ugh.

I'll take a look at gamefaq and use google to see if there is a guide so i don't have to keep bothering everyone here.

thanks.

well it works fine now.

for some reason, changing the resolution to 1024 x 768 also makes it load other areas alright too...

i couldn't find anywhere to change the settings until i looked in the start menu and program files.

I knew it would be something silly like that. Otherwise loads of other people would have had that trouble too.

This happens, although it normally doesn't happen to much. I've had the problem once and just had to reboot. It's a connection issue so you might want to check that you have a good internet conection and that all your cables are pluged-in fully before trying again.

Well there is a way to change your graphic settings, either through the Config menu or the Final Fantasy XI Configuration thing.

Yea the blurry graphics got annoying on my computer so I just got it for the 360.
