For video game discussions, please make the thread in the general gaming forum. General discussion is for off topic stuff, thanks. So I'll move this to gen gaming.

To answer your question...

If you want a good PS2 RPG after FFX, you should get Grandia II, assuming you didn't play it on Dreamcast.

If you want a good non-RPG game, get Capcom vs. SNK 2 if you like fighting games. Or Gran Turismo 3 if you like racing games.

Or buy a GameCube and get Super Smash Bros. Melee, the best game for any next gen console :D

WEll I can say DO NOT buy Evergrace, Summoner, or Eternal Ring. I got all 3 of these games and they suck! Evergrace looks like it was just a bunch of levels thrown together and it relies to much on 1 single mechant who you magically just teleport to from crystals. Eternal Ring has terrible controls and is dull. And Summoner, well you might like it but the battle system was enough to make me want to crack the cd!

If you have a Dreamcast I can recommend Skies of Arcadia. Its about 25 bucks now, and it is a great game.

I can't really think of any other rpg games on the ps2. I know there is Dark Cloud but I have heard bad things about it also.

get a used DC and a used DC copy of the game. it should cost less than the PS2 copy, which is supposedly a HORRID port.

considering dreamcast didnt have that many good games, well it did, but ive experienced probably all of them, and they stoppped making stuff for DC so...no point really in keeping it, grandia II, PSO, chu chu rocket all those good games...anyways my dreamcast like died, i was lucky that when i went to trade it in it finally worked, anyways.....

This is why he said

Good taste?!!

Suggesting that the Dreamcast didn't have many good games is a sign of bad taste. If you traded it in because it was faulty, thats fine, but it would behoove you to get another. Too many quality games on that system to let it go like that. Unless you're of the Soul Reaving evil residence sort.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can still utter the phrase "The DC didn't have many good games." I mean... wow. The DC has the most amazing lineup I've seen since the SNES. I'm a Nintendo fanatic and I'd go so far as to say the DC is superior to any Nintendo system ever except SNES. It has all the best fighting games ever made, some of the best platform/action/adventure games ever made (Sonic Adventure!! Come on!!), some of the best RPGs ever made - it's got Shenmue, which I don't really like much but really appreciate as a masterpiece, it's got all kinds of wacky, insanely fun games that only Sega could make like Crazy Taxi, Pro Trucker, Ooga Booga, so many I could just go on forever. In the three years it existed I think the DC produced a better game lineup than the PS2 will EVER have.

Hehe, I hadn't gone on a DC vs. PS2 rant in ages :D

i hope i didnt cause any confusion hehe i absolutely agree with everytying you said, dremcast was awesome, i think i said it didnt have many good games because compared to nintendo or playstation it didnt have that many games in general....maybe i think that because my local funcoland hated DC? im not sure...but i never really did enjoy those capcom/marvel/snk fighting games the only one i REALLY liked was street fighter 2 for super nes hehe and i also didnt like shenmue either, i tried it, but after about 2 hours of wandering around aimlessly talking to little girls with bad voice overs i got kinda bored, i know if i played it more i would have got involved though...i guess it just moved to slow, anyways......like i was saying, the reason i traded in my DC was because it didnt work anymore, the idea of getting the ps2 from that came after, when christmas came around heh, well in the time from reading up on games and coming back here ive decided to go with Shadow Hearts, looks good, great reviews, gameplay looks unique, gonna give it a try

Damn, I come back from a 4 month hiatus and this place has totally changed!

Anyways, the DC had Sakura Taisen 3. That was reason enough for me to love the DC.

hey, gori, welcome back. Sakura Taisen 4 is on its way yeah? Not that I'm up for the tactical dating sim genre . . .

Yeah, ST4 is on the way, and also a "limited edition" box set that basically has all the Sakura Taisen's (1-4) for DC in one huge box comes out the same day ST4 comes out too.

I heard about that box set. Apparently, it costs more than buying all of the games seperately(O_O) ah well. Presumably there's a doll in it. . .or something. . .

yeah, it's retailing around 27000 yen last I heard. For that price it better come with something that'll make me proud.

Man, your avator makes me laugh each time I see it. Just FYI but Hamada and Matsumoto both grew up in the same exact neighborhood where I'm from in Japan. In fact they went to the same high school as my uncle. What's weird is Hamada's parent's house is two houses down from where I used to live.

Oh yeah, who's the chick?

Seriously? Did you see "Ashita ga arusa" when it was showing down here? god I loved that show.

ANYWAYS. the chick is some random girl I grabbed from the japantoday.com opinion polls.

can't talk like this though, as I'm a mod now. . .

I had actually heard the set comes with nothing. . . ? Check one of the import shops and they'll tell you I suppose.

rpg..i dunno...but about the dreamcast...

cuz my favorite genre is sports(i love playin against my friends), making dc is the best console. exactly...you can just burn or rip 'em...that might be a reason why dc went out. dreamcast does have a couple good games besides sports, shenmue i heard, and sonic. i love nba 2k1, nfl2k1!

if you want sports...dc is for you!!!

Hmm... there are alot of games for you to buy, like Silent Hill 2 or GTA3 (Grand Theft Auto 3)... but since you said you like dungeons and dragons, I got no games like that in my head. Honestly I'm not into that medieval stuff......
