Ok... lately I have been spending alot of time with my SNES, and have been having a stupendous time. I beat FFX and had a good time with it, not my fav, but It was good. Tried to play Onimusha, but It just wasnt doing it for me... So I grabbed my snes, popped in Yoshi's Island, and Have been having a blast! I haven't had this much fun playing videogames for a good long time... Just goes to show Graphics and all that don't make a good system... I miss the days of 16 bit gaming... They were the high points of videogames, when gameplay ruled over pretty graphics.

Hell yes! Nothing will ever top the incredible SNES. Yoshi's Island is a damn fine classic too. Wow, that game has to be the greatest platformer ever made, ever. Period.

Trust me, I've tried going back. I just can't go back to snes. I mean, the controls are so... flat. Not only that, they are big. I'm just heavily spoiled by the comfortable controls of gamecube. And need I talk about the graphics? The graphics is even flatter than the controls. I just can't get used to it. I can never go back.

play Axelay and tell me about the flat graphics. Play rendering ranger and tell me about the flat graphics. look at SFA2 on SNES. I can't understand how someone can put down the SNES for such reasons. You ought not to be able to enjoy the 32-bit era either. The polygons on saturn and PS are not near the quality of the sprites on older systems.

Nothing will ever top the incredible SNES.

except for the SNES -S. famicom's my favorite system. Anyone who can't enjoy the transient joys of balloon fight has problems.

Yoshi's Island? Best platformer ever? I'd put it behind Umihara Kawase, but honestly, yoshi's Island takes a clean second place.

I still have a SNES kicking around my house somewhere, and I occasionally dig it out for a quick hour of fun on Super Mario Kart, and maybe Wing Commander (I loved that game so much that I started to build a Sci-Fi story thing about it.) The SNES was a brilliant console in it's time, and was the first console to have a near perfect arcade port (Street Fighter 2.) However, I don't go back and play it constantly.

The SNES is the console god :D It has the games, it has the most original stories and every game started more or less on that console
Without the SNES the gaming world wouldn't be the same....

I loved my SNES and currently I am using my SNES emulator to play Chrono Cross. I am liking it so far...who said you need good graphics to have fun playing video games. Good story is all you need.

Snes was a great system. I didn't care much for RPG's on it though. I couldn't get into RPG games until the 32-bit systems came into play. I have Final Fantasy 6 (or 3 in other countrys) on my psx and I played it a bit, but just can't get into it. Same goes for Final Fantasy 5. I think if Final Fantasy 6 would have been designed on the psx (not just ported) it would have been a much better game.

But I still loved games like Chrono Trigger, Mario World, Zelda Link to the Past, etc.

I still have a SNES around here actually 2 of them, but with emulators I don't play them. I hope DreamSNES, a Dreamcast emulator for the SNES, is worked on some more and gets to full speed. The Dreamcast Controller is actually somewhat like the SNES controller if you look at it. It has the same colored buttons and a L and R button. The analog stick is only used to go back to the menu.

Why are you playing Chrono Trigger on an emulator when its on the playstation? I can understand playing dead games, but not when one is re-released.

and why do you think the graphics are bad? Go to the hunting grounds in 65000000 BC.

The rain effect in hunting grounds was really cool when I first saw it. it still is pretty good today too (IMO). I still think Metriod on the SNES is one of the best games for it. I think it's also the first game to start the "beat it under a certain amount of hours to recieve a cool secret weapon" trend. Plus you gotta dig all the secret moves they snuck into the game.

Old school is some of the best gaming we've ever had. Link, Mario, Megaman, and I mean all NES! I play NES still all the time, as I do my DC and PS2. But please, if you have a Nintendo in your home, make it for more than a dust collector!

I used to love my SNES but I betrayed as soon as it's better looking sister came along. Her name was N64 but she niether had the quantity nor the quality of her older sister. Soon the Snes died as all of 16-bit gaming did but her memory still lives on in my heart (heart=computer) as an emulator. But i"m over her now and have hooked up with this other system that rocks my world!

BUt besides that, has anyone ever played a game on the SNES called Front Missions. The game is like FFT but with mechs! I loved it.
