Hey everyone.

I have recently been playing through FFIX again, and I have come to the part where I must go to the Water Shrine.

Now everytime I try and enter it, my game freezes.

Does anyone know any good cleaning methods that can easily be done with household items?

I just exhale on it and wipe it with a tissue.

When my game freezes, sometimes opening it for a minute (with the game still on) then closing it will make it continue playing.

I've tried that so many times.
But with the opening thing, do you use a PS2?

I had the same problem with 8, although i never got to try this becuase i had already bought it again when i heard about this but, put in a different disk from the game and see if it continues. Worked for cutscenes not sure about in game tho. Try gently dusiting the eye of your ps1/2 that also usually fixed my problems.

You could go to, well, just about anywhere to get (sounds silly) a can of compressed air. It'll have one of those little red straw-looking things (like on the WD-40 cans). Pop that on, open your ps2, and blow all that dust out. My first-run ps2 still runs thanks to that.

I jam a hover into the back of my Ps2. :/

It seems to me that the laser is confused if you will because of either dirt or scratch marks. Have you tried turning it upside down?
This used to work for me sometimes. Or you could give it a little tap on the top with your palm.

Naw, I know for a fact it is the disc and not the PS2. I just bought the flat PS2 in like March.

It can read all my games perfectly including FFIX, except for whenever I get into Water Shrine.

Well i used to put my disck in hot water and the clean it with a towel, some games came out fine but others didn't, there are also both lens cleaners and disc cleaners available, buy them and if they don't work you'll have to get a enw FF IX

clean it with just about anything, so long as it wont actually scratch the disk up or leave residue. toothpaste is actually pretty decent at cleaning cds. no joke.
