I�m a newcomer here,so,i�ve run a "search" about this and i didn�t found anything..so..here goes:
I�m playing (again) FF7,trying to complete the game 100%,all weapons,armor,materia stuff like that...on ff8 there is an island (island closest to hell) that is a good traing spot...but on FF7.....well...
Does anyone knows a good place to level up?

As my tactic I train 5-20levels in various times of game, this is easier than training 40levels at last disc.
With this technicue some places.
(actually any place is good for training in ff7, if theres lot of tents with you)
After first bombing mission go from station to train wreckyard and gain 5lvl.

Next real training place is forest where you get yuffie, its good place to train cause theres that small village next to forest and with gained money you can clear first battles at fort condor.
You can get 10lvls easily in here, I also get 3rd level limits here

Next place is fields around gold saucer, 5 levels is good amount here.

Next place is fields and woods next to wrecked reactor.
Village next to wrecked reactor is good place for nourishments.
5levels is ok.

Then go on till you get tiny bronco.
And head shores of island where mideel is, before aeris dies.
This is first real training grounds of game.
In here train 10-30 levels and complete 3rd limit level.
This is good place to "learn" fire3, ice3, bolt3, wall, cure3, bio3 and so on.
I have returned to this place many times in game to train even with highwind.

Deep parts of impact crater are next place to train.
In there are various places to train, find your favorite.

I would go train in the brown areas near Mideel, staying away from the shoreline. If you have Yuffie and her ultimate weapon plus Morph, you'll come across the snail things that you can morph for Guard Sources. Easy way to get 255 Defense on everyone so you don't die as often in the Sunken Ship.

I train near mideel in either the woods or the forest around mideel.

Gelnika, mideel, northern crater.

Northern Crater is about the best for EXP but since I don't know what stage you are at in the game, you could say either of the three aforementioned.

mideel is a good place 2 train 4 a while but once it stops given u a lot of exp go to the sunken ship

As soon as you get the Tiny Bronco, you can go to Wutai, on this island there's some good experience to be got, great if you're around level 30 and onwards. I trained myself from level 33 to 47 here, it's a good place. Also the birds you fight have a spell called "Lightning", does around 300-400 damage to each member of your party and is good for getting the limit gauge up.

Overall though, Northern Crater and the Sunken Gelenka are the best places.

the place i train is a certain part in the northern crater the easiest things 2 destroy and give u plenty of ap and alrite xp is this pots which ask for an elixer just give them the elixers they require then attak them and you will get heaps of ap and decent xp

the last time i played, i got loads of power sources from gongaga (morph the triceratops thingy)
after the temple of the ancients - because you'll have morph materia then.
you'll notice a huge difference in attack power if you concentrate on one character.
300 attack up to 3500 in some cases.

in the galinka every monster morphs into a source of a different kind

yep it certainly is ive mastered a magic and a summon materia for each charavter now so that is 8 master magic and 8 master summon just from that one spot alone

Indeed. Your characters get a lot of exp too so its not just good for materia.

you never need to train there really. it was nice the first time when i wanted a lv99 team.
but getting 255 str on disk 1 is still the best way to go i think.
(the way i stated earlier)

I avoid training because the games are easy as it is. I trained to beat the weapons but I dont think ive ever bothered getting sources to bring up my stats. I never needed them really.

yeah the games easy so theres no point in repeatedly playing it unless ur gna du it perfectly nxt time rnd

All the enemies in the game are easy, so I'd say the sources are used for the Weapons since they have a high defence, probably maximum, in just about everything. I always used the sources on Yuffie and killed both Weapons with her single handedly. There's no point in maxing everyone's stats unless you feel like it.

My way is...

Sunken Gelnika:

I Use 'Morph' on the 'Unknowns', the 'Poodlers' and the 'Bad raps' to get the 'Power Source', 'Guard source', 'Magic Source', 'Speed Source' and the 'Mind Source'.

Or:

I Get the 'Power Source' by using morph on that half Rhino, half tank creature by the Gongaga mako reactor.

And secret place in Northern Cave:

Giving Elixirs to 'Magic Urns' and killing the 'Movers'.

Also, there's a place near "The Forgotten City" that gives loads of experience with some easy enemies. It's an area with a treasure chest and has a big hollow tree trunk in it, I think it's on the way to the forgotten city. Plus it's close to the World Map so you can skip in and out to use a tent if you need to.

all of the monster in the gelnika ship can be morph into "various" source like guard source, power source, speed source and other...

while in the crater, there are many monster that provide high AP good for levelling your materia

one good spot is in the gongaga walk through the explode reactor while equip the enemy encounter +, there you will only find a green rhino riding a tank monster, morph it and it will turn to power source... (PS:yuffei final weapon work best to this monster)

Early on I'd recommend the fields right after you leave Midger on disc 1. Other than that... late in the game try around Mideel or Northern Crater.

Best place to train, is Northern Crater, with those pots things. Give them an Elixir(use the item dupe trick to get limitless Elixirs), kill them and recieve huge EXP and AP. Failing that, train outside Mideel.

If ur going for AP fight movers in swamp area of north cave. Gives u 2400 AP.

Pots FTw. Mastered 5 KOTR in 5 hours. Not done at one time ;).

A place you all forgot to mention is the hallway in Junon where the soldiers are training. The red button on the bottom of the screen triggers the siren, and while the siren is going, you encounter very difficult machine enemies for a lot of Exp. and AP. The best way to beat them is to get Beta from the Midgar Zolom (use the fire ring with the person with Enemy Skill) and use Beta on the machines. You'll run out of MP fairly quickly, but there's an inn nearby!

i normally train outside mideel, but i also have the EXP materia so yeah -_- eh i dont really go anywhere else... oh and umm nope i just normailly train there... oh but on the first disk it's good to train in the bushes where you get yuffie... well because you'll find that your get your next limit breaks very fast ^___^

Really, I think the Northern Crator is your best choice. I've managed to go up by about 3 levels while in there.

I wouldn't recommend the sunken Gelnika plane, because although the monsters are hard, it seems they don't give much exp and ap (for me at least).

At the moment, I have Cloud at Level 71.

North Crator is pretty good, I managed to get my characters to level 99 there.
