I would have to pick Rockstar they make sweet game like Max Payne GTA 3 SoF and there probly going to come out with more I think Rockstar is the next major gamemaker

Squaresoft. Rockstar have only had one major title and thats GTA3.

Of the two, Square by far. If Rockstar is the "next great game maker" then video games are going even farther downhill than I thought.

But since there was an "other" option I chose that, cuz I'd take Nintendo over either one any day :D

ok i picked other because rockstar is not that great, they only have 2 good games, state of emergency,and GTA3, they werent the main developer in Max payne, there were a number of other ones, but the thing that really made me not pick them is that they made the game ONI, a really bad game....

these "either/or" polls always "interest" me. I'd change it from next great game maker to next popular game maker. Great games have an uncanny ability to not sell, and great game makers have the same ability to go bankrupt or suffer for it.(SNK,TECHNOS,SEGA)

here's hoping Nintendo stays safe.

yeah, and that's because they become over confident and won't follow the " fan flow". I say it's cuz of some cheesy director who had a success once and it got up to his head saying " hey I know this industry inside out"
They don't listen to fans' demands so their popularity decreases and they end up like sega and snk.
Sadly, square and nintendo are following the same steps.

Well as for Nintendo, they still make more money than anyone else in the industry every year, so you really don't need to worry about them any time soon.

I think the reason why SNK, Sega, and Technos all went under (or had to stop making consoles in Sega's case) was not because they were stubborn, but because they were dedicated to their fans. Which is really cool, it just doesn't sell enough games.

Square had some heavy losses last year but that's because the Final Fantasy movie sucked so badly and because they spend such a huge ammount of money on marketing their games and creating fancy cut scenes for them that they have a hard time making it all up again. They won't be making any more awful movies and hopefully they'll be cutting down on costs soon, since they seem to have acknowledged their own mistakes. Of course, that doesn't mean they'll go back to being a great developer like they once were, but at least it's a start.

And Rockstar... well, they'll undoubtedly continue to sell obcenity to the hungry masses. American culture is gross.

I know Rockstar made Oni and I hate that game. So far the only game I hated from Squaresoft was Parasite Eve 2 and thats only cause I suck at it.

Vagrant Story
The Bouncer
Super Mario RPG
Ehrgeiz
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross

I'm sure there are others but I can't think of anymore!!

Squaresoft is the best by far. They have alot more games that like.

Between Rockstar and Squaresoft, I'd go with Square. I love GTA3 as much as the next guy, but Square has more good games. I haven't played any other Rockstar games that I know of, other than GTA3 and it's prequels.

If I had to choose overall though, I'd go with Capcom or SNK. Some of my best game playing memories are with games made by those companies.

I love Squaresoft better. I only like GTA3 from Rockstar. While i like ff games

Squaresoft. I hadn't even heard of Rockstar before I started to read this thread. Squaresoft were behind four of the games in my current collection (FF VI - IX.) I quite like Konami games aswell, including MGS and Suikoden.

I'd say Rockstar, just cause they got the guts to make really new and inventive games.

well sorry to rockstar but square by far rockstar is doing half way decent and there games are great but only one game of my top 3 is from rockstar and the other 2 are from square so i gotta go with square

Rockstar didnt make ANY of those games... DMA made ALL of the Grand Theft Auto games and Vis made State of Emergency I think a company called RMD or something like that made Max Payne. So Rockstar doesnt make the games, they just publish them...so whats so good about that? I think you should recognize the companies that MAKE the games, not publish them...

its common though. . .many people just don't care. I only knew that Rockstar was a publisher but never thought to think of the developers. so DMA has made some sharp games I dare say, like that one on the N64. . . meanwhile, other Rockstar games will get a push because of what they had done. . .

Nobody can compete with Squaresoft. It's so obvious. But I guess Rockstar is good enough...hehe.

squaresoft is better. they actually put a lot of work into their games. rockstar (i like em, dont get me wrong) has games which are simply about shooting and killing people. it doesnt take a genius to think of something like that. that new game, State of Emergency, only involves running around beating gang members and police officers to death. see my point. games such as final fantasy and chrono cross have much more complex plots.

I'd say it's an even split between Konami (for obvious reasons), Square (Duh), and the group formerly known as Silicon Knights (they were bought as a dev team for Crystal Dynamics for the creation of the Legacy of Kain games). So there it is.

Like TK, I'd choose other. Nintendo's games are so much better than any elses!

Rockstar is a very good and innovative company with refreshing ideas but I think that they aren't even close to SquareSoft only because Squares been in the game mad long. They have franchises and people know them more than Rockstar

Squaresoft is a much better company, Rockstar is making a name for itself recently but Squaresoft has been around for a much longer time.

I choose Squaresoft. Rock Star games only has one game that i like and it's GTA3. I'm more of a RPG fan so I choose square.
