Hi people, This thread is to discuss how you artistic musicians and composers out there feel about people making money just for the sake of it out of music and not for enjoyment or soulfull reasons. What are your views?

some people make money out of it as it's something they enjoy not just a reason to get money. if you think that then why is it just musicions and not authors aswell

Thats fair enough, but take a look at some of the boy bands you see now with thier "bling and that" and my thoughts are that the original consept of RnB Rock Even Indie have gone down the drain........... Espetially when *BUSTED*(may they forever burn in hell!) Came on to the scene and started a chain reaction of bands Mcfly etc. Even fightstar is kinda like that. But my point is their all sellouts. And they get too attached to money and then show-up on blue peter and T.V. programs like that. They get paid sooooooo much for that and then thier love for music is overthrown by greed and power. (by power i mean the charts, all music has turned into is the battle of the "person who has the best song video" and untill Television resets its ways music is doomed. for one example the euro vision song contest, I mean come on music in about passion not whos better than who.)

yeah but you could also say the same about footballers though they get payed millions a year for putting shorts on and kicking a ball

They do and it sucks, I dont watch football. With the money that they spend on footbal, they could donate to charity, or donate to poor countries for enducation and tecnology. It appalls me actually to think that the skills of a football player is considerd more exspensive that the avarege house. Its really does suck. The world cup wold be ok if everyone played out of passion and love for the sport, not just the money. Thats kinda what im trying to say......... (sorry if I was being rude, I get really into these subjects.)

therefore you don't have an arguement with just musicians

The original drummer of the Velvet Underground quit after the band accepted a $75 fee for playing at a high school as he considered it "selling out". Is that IN IT FOR THE MUSIC enough? Cause it is pretty nutty, imo.
