I thought this might be neat to do because it's dirt cheap, doesn't require a gigantic time commitment, and doesn't require a crazy-fast computer.

anyone that's interested should be able to play this. you can get the game for like 20$ on half.com. the requirements are hilariously low:

Multiplayer PC System Requirements and Options

* 64 MB RAM
* Open Battle.net game Creators and TCP/IP game Hosts: 128MB RAM recommended (256MB RAM in games with over 4 players)
* 950 MB available hard drive space
* 28.8 Kbps or faster modem
* Up to 8 Players over TCP/IP Network or Battle.net® (Requires low-latency Internet connection with support for 32-bit applications)

I think ideally if we do it we shouldn't just go all power-level-y and stuff, but instead just play the game at a normal pace with other ffshrine people and enjoy the game ~

we could set up specific play times based on what would work best for people.

would anyone be interested? do you think we should play vanilla d2, or with the expansion? (for those that don't have it, the expansion would up the price a bit-- but it'd probably still be tolerable)

if you're interested, let us know what times/whatever would work for you, and if you have a preference for expansion or not.

I can probably make it to any time games within reason.

we could even set it up with a voice chat if people would want to, which would probably be pretty amusing !

I might be interested. I think I still have my D2 discs, expansion too.

I don't know what I'll play though! ;O

No preference for expansion or not, and I don't have much in the way of time restraints right now.

edit: I found my discs and I'm fixing to install ;O

I'll get it ASAP and I'm in.

i have expansion installed and ready to play, but im stuck with dial-up till i get a job, so it'll be a bitch to whoever plays in games with me. but if no one cares about that, then i could go ahead and join.

will this be over battlenet? that'll be more fun to play since the patches and the feature of characters not being saved on your HD will limit hackers. will we have a private room/server thing?
something like...

considering this will be a private game between friends, hacking really should not be an issue.

i have it lying around somewhere. last time i tried playing with some FFSers, the lag was insane. I'll give it a try again, even though I have no idea what I'm doing in the game D:

This actually going to happen? I reinstalled it there a few days ago and i'm going along very nicely in it. It'd be neat to play it with you lot.

Ooh --- I wish I could do this, but I sold off my copy, a while back.

Oh --- and I know that the requirements say 28.8K modem, but I can't say I recommend it. I tried the online version on 56K when I had it and I still found the lag pretty terrible at times.
