Some call them no-cd files, other calls them as a less harsher name backup cd files.

But they are the same thing. It is a file that lets you play a computer game without having to insert the CD. Well, is it illegal?

I know that many use no cd files when they burn games off their friends. Some may even download the game from the internet and use no cd files to play the game.

I have used no cd files before, but when i use it, it is because i have bought the game, but my laptop is so slow that i feel that the game performs better when you don't have to play it off the cd.

So are the no-cd files illegal?

it's likely against the terms of use/service of the game, but that technically isn't quite the same as being "illegal."

It's ok as long as you have a copy of the game apperently.

seeing as i'm connected to the internet. i apparently own every movie/game/cd ever created. so i guess that means i'm ok. :D

morally it's alright if you are using your own copy and just want to keep the disks in good nick.
But it's probably frowned upon by the game makers and such. Since it helps piracy.

Morally, it's utterly subjectivek, as with anything else relating to morals, ethics, or pretty much anything else.

Chances are it is against the terms. Whether these terms are legally binding/enforceable depends on where you are, but often they are not.

I tend to crack games if possible, pirated or legit.
