The idea of a remake of FF7 might sound good, but there was actually an article on Gamespot.com explaining why a remake could not live upto the impact of the original game; it's an interesting article to say the least. As for the demo, it was never confirmed that they were remaking the game, since that was only made to show off the power of the PS3.

No need for a tech demo of the first couple minutes of the game. If a trailer was made to entice people it would actually state that the game might be marginally good. And it might have to show an actual storyline to make us believe. So what I'm saying is that tech demo or not the FFVII remake won't be nearly as good as any of the other FFs.

You seem to have missed a point though. In pointing out that opinions can be wrong, it is conversely shown that they can be right. For example, if I believe that the moon is a big ball of rock in orbit around the planet, that would be an entirely correct opinion, which is of far more worth than the opinion of someone who thinks it's made of cake.

It would require a complete rewrite of all the laws of the universe, particularly the ones about storytelling quality, graphical standards, and the very nature of fun. If you invert all of those, then FFVII would be close, if not the greatest game ever.

And anyway, no one is telling anyone not to like FFVII. When Prak gives you reasons why FFVII is not a good game, he's not telling you that if you like the game you are an idiot. Many of you aren't aware of what happened in the "FFVII - why it ISN'T a goood game" threads. I'm not saying this is true of everyone, but in general the people posting against FFVII made much better arguments. Most notable, however, were the people whom Prak calls the "fanboys." They were the ones that came in and said "FFVII is the best game ever and nothing you say can change it. If you can't accept that it made lots of money and was really popular then you are stupid." And I'm not even exaggerating, either. There were many people who seemed grievously offended at the rather objective posts made early on by Rabid Monkey and Smokey and then later by Prak. Depends on how you'd discribe a succes, I know for a fact that FFVII helped alot of people get into RPGs. As much as you loved FFVII, you'll then see that the game has issues, but it would be unfair to compare a turn based game to a live action game for example.

I think, Sony making (if they actually were that is) FFVII could be either a good or a bad thing. Good as in alot of people will probably get a PS3 just for the game, bad because that very well might be the only game those people get and a huge dissapointment.

I'd rather see a complete new game then just a graphics update, because that's all it would be. What would a graphics update contribute to a game, you all thing is the best RPG out there?

Pricey is not the word. $500 is just a tad bit more than pricey. Although you may get bluetooth enabled, seven controller supportable, and some other nice features, it is not worth the 500 bucks. Most of the stuff is over-the-top. No one will need all of the bells and whistles added on. And actually it is quite unlikely that Square would add other characters, items, etc. because that might almost mean rewriting the whole story from that point on. Imagine a FFVII without Barret...And now imagine the one with him. See the huge difference? That probably wouldn't be feasable.
