A few friends of mine and I are starting to work on a video game; It'll be our first one, and mostly an experiment on how to do things and learn from it, however, we do want to do the best we can with it.

Currently, we have me as a Programmer, a Soundtrack developer (Guitar & Keyboard for intstruments), A 3d modeler using Blender, and two people working on the actual mechanics of the game and how it should look & feel. That leaves need for an Artist...

The game is going to be an overhead, scrolling space shooter with 3d graphics. Typical sort of first-game, just with 3d modeling haha. What I'd need is a variety of ships drawn, some graphics for the website to make it look how I really would like it to look after I redo it, items for the game, possibly some menu art and a few other things.

If you're looking to do this for free, that'd be awesome.. If not, I have a solution. This game will be given out for free, but I'll be requesting donations if possible. Artist-dude will get 10% of the donations after the paypal fee, for one year. Depending on how well I do on advertising and how generous people are, it could be a decent amount for some practice in what you like doing and helping me out =)

i might be able to do something, as i have made a 2D 'game' like that, and did a bit of concept design (in my experience of making games you normally get frustrated with the coding or something and end up giving up)......i am considered the best artist in year 11 at my school.....do you mean concept design or designing the actual graphics?

Well, it's 2D gameplay, however, the graphics will be 3D ^_^
The art needed will all be 2D though

Concept, Photoshop, Basic Drawing... Any of that stuff could be helpful =)

i can do anything really.....i love concept work drawing shiny chromey ships.....if i get round to it i might help you....what kind of scale are the ships on? are they small or are they....BATTLE CRUISERS.....

Most are rather small.. Battlecruisers are well... mini-bosses and bosses !

I'm up for a small project with photoshop. I haven't actually tried out making game graphics before, but I can do web design. I also have, and am learning the basics of 3d studio max8.

Game Graphics are simply 2D graphics put on a 3D model; this game will use UV mapping to do this.

Basically, in a single, or multiple image files, we will be taking the coordinates of the part or parts of the image(s) we want, and putting them on the models.

I enjoy designing characters quite a bit, I think I do that best as far as my artwork goes. If you have any specific character descriptions maybe I can sketch them out for you?

I'm not terribly amazing at making my own stuff up, but if you ever need a secondary artist to use base drawings and alter them I'll happily do it for no fee.

You can build an entirely competent shooter game using placeholder graphics. I think you should just do that to show what you're capable of, and then post it at a pixel-art board, and if the mockup game is good you could end up with some great artists working on graphics for it.

If the mockup isn't good... well, that would be the actual game just with bad graphics, so they'd have a good reason not to do anything.

hey.. that sounds interesting though I want to follow that career I don't mind do it for free..I may offer my help if u guys want...BUT what I read is that u guys want ships drawn and,more architectural stuff (and I hate that XD)... I'm more like drawing people, characters... so if ur interested... I could make some characters only...
