Talk about your band, I don't care how shitty and horrible it is. Even if you just joke around and play to amuse yourself. My band is pretty harcore, and all members post here on ffshrine. If you live in wisconsin you should try to make it out for the jam sessions/keggers we will be holding this summer.

OMG it's the captain home for thanksgiving, less drunk than fellow band members (maybe) and considering life. The idea dfor the summer shall be to play in the now vaccant barn (no cows) and throw parties and allow things to be all kinds of fantastic and such in between making people's grass and our own money. Plans suggest the greatest time ever but plans always suggest these things, such is life, the end.

I'm not in a band but I make a lot of music on my own, electronic stuff and songs on guitar, mostly metal/hard rock inspired. I do a lot of silly things as well, such as death metal and rap parodies

Here's some of the crap I have online...forgive the crappy production, I don't have any good equipment.

Electronic:

Short "filmscore" style thing that takes itself way too seriously
http://streamer.soundclick.com/jerry_DL/11/01/freemp3/ktulu+theendofallwhichstandsintheirway.mp3

The Price Is Right Theme cover
http://streamer.soundclick.com/jerry_DL/06/03/freemp3/ktulu+thepriceisright.mp3

Guitar:

One of my thrash metal inspired songs, guitar only so it's not too exciting
http://streamer.soundclick.com/jerry_DL/14/01/freemp3/chrisjonesktulu+thyhallowedagony.mp3

Some short ass thing
http://streamer.soundclick.com/jerry_DL/14/01/freemp3/chrisjonesktulu+249.mp3

Megaman 3 Password Screen, done for Butch
http://streamer.soundclick.com/jerry_DL/07/04/freemp3/chrisjonesktulu+rockman3passwordscreen.mp3

Silly stuff:

Without the retarded vocals this is pretty straightforward
http://streamer.soundclick.com/jerry_DL/14/01/freemp3/badbillyhopkinslilfashionexpeditionimportemporium+ thefurbyanthem.mp3

Short death metal parody
http://streamer.soundclick.com/jerry_DL/14/01/freemp3/badbillyhopkinslilfashionexpeditionimportemporium+ deathfag.mp3

Grindcore parody, complete with vocals and guitar you can't make out at all!

I really want to play bass in a band, but I don't have any musically inclined friends or a bass, so that will not be happening any time soon!

The closest I've ever been to being in a band was singing with my friend's band A.C. Slater sometimes back in high school.

I play guitar for a band, "Polluted Minds", write and arrange music. Our sound is very progressive, very tool / deftones-ish. I also use programs to arrange electronic sounds, and create music on my own. if anybody is interested, i'll post music. if not then oh well.

Yeah it would be a lot better. I need someone to do vocals for the cover now! I have no mic so I can't record any vocals that sound decent. Plus, I can't sing nearly as well as TK so it would have been embarassing for me to try anyway :(

If anyone wants to contribute their voice just get the lyrics from TK, record and send me the files and I can mix it in. IT IS FUN TO MAKE MUSIC DO IT

It may have been an ad or something? They do a lot of auto-playing ads these days. Seriously, I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure nobody maliciously went in and added rap to my song for one day, then took it out again?

I've considered that too. I definitely heard the rap and I thought "Ok, what happened there?", so I opened the tab and Stop It was still playing, at least I'm almost sure it was still playing, which means that the rap thing was part of the song. Also, it wasn't just rap but that was what I found most funny, it was like on the Songs For the Deaf album and it was skipping between radio stations starting with rap, then some metal thing, then some other thing and back to the rap at the end.

It wasn't really malicious though seeing as it was super entertaining and a pretty inspired move and whether or not you originally added rap onto the end of the song, I now demand that you do.

oh man, Ktulu your cover of TK's song is awesome. I asked if you were going to do a thrash-metalled-out version and you said no...I think you lied...somewhat!

I feel pretty feeble now that I've heard that, but I will still attempt to do a not entirely crappy lo-fi-acoustic-and-probably-singing-core cover. sorry it's taking a while, I've been either out with friends or working until today. I also might upload another song or two...maybe!

sorry. i really am an utter jerk. Please find forgiveness somewhere in your heart.

FOR NOW: People - what are good sites where I can upload songs and such? I'm not breaking down and using MySpace yet, so I was thinking Purevolume...any other alternatives? Or I might just give it to someone else to host.

TK

Masacree.

Bigfoot: Purevolume is decent but sign up as soon as possible 'cause it takes them forever to verify your account so it actually works.

Myspace is a lot easier, and you can upload 4 songs instead of 3, and more people use it.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
12-12-2005, 09:46 AM
Soundclick is pretty easy and you can throw a lot of stuff on there. Your stuff isn't going to get noticed by other users, but blah, it's decent for hosting.

Thanks rezo and Big for the comments. Someone needs to sing on it now. Also, no way is that thrashy o_o Not to me anyway!

Bigfoot
12-13-2005, 04:08 PM
I was sorta kidding when I said 'thrash-metalled out'. I meant I originally thought you were going to add crazy metal solos and more 'metal' riffs and such, like you did (since that's what I figured was your style), instead of just copying TK's straightforward punk rock style.

also, I think I'll use Soundclick for the time being. ta Ktulu.

TK
12-13-2005, 07:47 PM
Use Myspace as well. People can add you, you'll get exposure, it's easy to send out bulletins to people when you add a new song or something, etc.

Having profiles in multiple places is always a good idea but seriously you should have a Myspace one because for music it simply is the best free hosting out there.

I used to be in a band called Coat Of Arms, and before that one called SF Firehydrant. We played with a lot of big bands, such as Good Riddance, A Wilhelm Scream, Zebrahead, Matchbook Romance, Strike Anywhere, Rx Bandits, Brand New, Finch, The Starting Line, and a few that I dont like that were still pretty big, like Hawthorne Heights and Fall Out Boy. We played on Warped Tour '04, and that was pretty sweet. Claudio from Coheed and Cambria wore our tshirt while they played. But sadly, we broke up last year because our singer went a little crazy, and we were all losing the drive because the scene we grew up in was turning into tight pants and metrosexuality. The band I'm in now, we have the kind of mentality of: we love everything, but everything should fuck off once in a while (since none of the musicians is ever serious about what we do :p )

Usually we play metal, rock music (most people who listened to it compared it to a mix of Foo Fighters, Dinosaur Jr. and Nine Inch Nails, which is quite good for my record O: )

We've been recording and mixing songs since April 2006, and I usually play the bass guitar. Haven't done that many gigs, BUT, we have played and jammed together with other bands, which most of us are very fond of: trying out other styles and genres.

And I love the mix and change of styles: we started out as an ordinary metal band (I write the music and lyrics together with my oldest cousin, who mainly does the vocals and e. guitar), but by now we've made songs that reach from electro to celtic folk! <3

The band really doesn't have one name, since we changed styles and played with other sorts of bands together quite frequently. And I'll get to uploadin' a whole album soon enough. ^_*

we play jazz/funk and that sort of stuff. We have our biggest (paying) gig coming up on April 6th, a whole $120 for the band (so that's $20/$24 each, depending on if we get a reliable bass player for then.). Yeah, we're making it big. ;)
