im starting to wonder if maybe the start of my zelda love came from my early childhood, when zelda for nes came out. was it the familiarality that got me? i know i love everything about it now, gameplay, storyline etc. what do you like about it and how did you get hooked?

Mine was the first NES "Legend of Zelda". Even though I never owned the game, I must've annoyed the fuck out of my friends for borrowing it for so long. (I DID own "L.O.Z. 2", but I never felt the same sense of enjoyment with that as I did my mooched copies of the first game.)

My first Zelda was Link's Awkening on the Gameboy, then I got really lucky when I got an N64 for 70 with Ocarina of Time (and a couple of other games) when I was 17.

Well I am somewhat disappointed that you weren't referring to Zelda hentai, but I'll digress.

Zelda games are among one of the neatest franchises out there. Every Zelda game I've ever played, I've simply loved, and it's because it's a good game. You can mindlessly kill things or enjoy a deep and involving adventure, and in most of them, you have to build up money, but it's not a problem if you kill a bunch of shit. Only being able to have 999 (i think it might be 9999 in some of them) rupees means, that while money is easily accessible, one never reaches the point one inevitably reaches in most RPG's where money is basically pointless. (Especially later in most of the later FF's where you have money for nothin' and your chicks for free.)

Overall Zelda games are among the best put together games out there.

Umm... I am a really big Zelda fan. My family had the first Zelda since beforee I was born, and I played it. Then, I got my N64 with Ocarina of Time, and I was hooked. Now, I can say that I played and beat every single Zelda game. It is my favorite series.

Edit: By the way, my favorite game, in the short term is Twilight Princess. In the long term, it is Ocarina of Time. I put many more hours into Ocarina of Time after I beat the game than I did with Twilight Princess after I beat it, but when actually beating it, Twilight Princess was really great.

I started with Link's Awakening and the NES one, but my favorite up to now is still A Link to the Past.

Started with Ocarina of Time because my cousin couldn't finish the Water Temple and after I did that for him I made my own file and played it every weekend when I went over there.
Later on I dug up my SNES and saw I had owned a copy of Link to the Past and I played that. Then, when I finally bought my N64 I played Majora's Mask. I haven't really played many of the Zelda games but they are fun.

I started playing Zelda when me and my brothers bought an N64 and my brothers mate lent him Ocarina of Time, then we bought it. I love that game.

I used to watch the cartoon when I was a kid, it was awesome, but I've never been that much of a fan when it comes to the video games. I don't know, I just haven't been that invested, I suppose.
