How To Get Them

Most of them can be found by drawing from an enemy, others are given to you, some are the prize of completing a side-quest and there are those who fight you in order to lend they’re powers to you

How does a GF work?
In FFVIII, you can level up your GF's just like your characters. A GF has its own level, HP, and a set of moves. You can make your GF's learn new abilities by filling up their AP that are obtained in battles. They're just like your characters, and they should also be taken care of just like your party.

When you call upon a GF in battle, a countdown will start and will reach zero or slower, depending on the character's compatibility with summoned GF. The GF's HP will replace the character's HP while the countdown goes, allowing the GF to absorb the damage done to the character(NOTE: Status attacks, such as Silence or Poison goes to the character, not to the GF. If a character is attacked by a Silence spell while summoning the GF, the summoning of the GF cancels out.) However, remember that GF's have a limited amount of HP. You should also remember that you cannot cure them during battle. If you try to cure them with a spell or an item, it will go to whoever summoning the GF. If the GF's HP reaches to zero, then the GF gets knocked out. You can revive GF's by using a certain item found in the game. Unlike your party members, GF's can quickly regain HP while your characters walk around. So you don't have to worry that much about your GF's HP in battle.

GF Compatibilities
GF Compatibilities determines how long it will take your GF to call in battle. 0 is the lowest, which means the slowest and 1000 is the highest, which means the fastest. Try to get your party members' compatibility with their GF's reach 1000, or near 1000. It's for the best. You can't have your party members summon a GF in a tough battle and wait for an eternity for the GF's to appear.

Here are some ways to raise your compatibility with your GF's:
1. Summon them in battles --- If you do, around 20 points or something like that will be given to your GF compatibility(NOTE: If you have two or more GF's junctioned to one character, and you summon one of them, the other GF's that didn't get summoned would likely have their compatibility points go down at least one or two points sometimes.)

2. Use items --- Some items in the game can be used to raise compatibility points for your GF's. Here's the list.
Quezacotl = Dynamo Stone
Shiva = Arctic Wind / North Wind
Ifrit = Bomb Fragment / Red Fang
Siren = Silence Powder
Brothers = Dino Bone
Diablos = Steel Orb
Carbuncle = Dragon Skin
Leviathan = Fish Fin
Pandemona = Shear Feather / Windmill
Cerberus = Dragon Fin
Alexander = Moon Stone
Doomtrain = Poison Powder / Venom Fang
Bahamut = Shaman Stone
Cactuar = Cactus Thorn
Tonberry = Chef's Knife
Eden = N/A

3. Use items to revive the GF's --- Reviving them or healing them with GF recovery items can have your GF's like your characters more and raise their compatibility with you party members.

How can a GF learn new abilities?
The process is simple. In the GF Menu, set an ability for a GF to learn(You can set any ability in the list that is available.) Then as you fight battles, you earn AP points. Once a GF has acquired that amount of AP needed to have the ability you had set for it to learn, it will learn the ability and move on to the next ability. Or you can set it on another ability. Learning some Abilities will unlock previously unavailable Abilities to learn. For example, learning the Elem-Def-J Ability with a GF might unlock the Elem-Defx2 Ability to learn.

Introduction to GF

Alright, GF ( or Guardian Forces) are Final Fantasy VIII’s summons, before VIII the summons usually were nothing more than creatures that created havoc in battle in the previous games and were called eseprs, summons or summoning spells, one of the main inovations in Final Fantasy VIII was the way that the GF’s became one of the most important aspect in the Game, GF’s became more than simple monsters, GF’s were the only way to rise your stats ( besides leveling up) and during the game you’l find them crucial in fights, tactics, and junctioning, GF’s have also abillities that they can give they’r user.

These Abilities are:

Junction Ability – Junction Ability are crucial in junctioning, each GF has it’s junction ability’s, this way you can decide wich status you want to increase in a character by jnctioning the specific GF to it, one thing that you might want keep in mind is that you can decide wich ability you want the GF to learn, also you can buy items that make GF’s learn Junction Abilities.

Command Ability- Command Abilities is also a innovation in Final Fantasy Games, instead of having jobs or characters with specific commands, in this game characters don’t have abilities besides attack, to get new abilities you have to junction a GF, every GF starts with Magic, GF, Draw, and Item command abilities but as you progress thru the game you will find more powerful ones.

Character Abilities- These ones are abilities that you can junction to your characters, these will either Upgrade your stats, give you Status Bonus, enhance some commands ( e.g Attack- Mug), or give auto-abilities.

Party Abilities – These abilities will influence all party, they can prevent dangerous situations, influence what you’l geta fter the battle, and help you find things that you couldn’t found without them, they also help lowering the random battle rates

GF Abilities – These are the Ability that a GF learns and will use to increase his power, like his summoning speed, his HP, and the abilty to boost his damage.

Menu Abilities- Well these are ability’s that after being learned can be used on the menu, they can refine items to magic, items to items, magic to magic, items to ammo, ammo to items, and the sort, there are some that allow you to get discounts or call shops anywhere in the Game.

How do GF's gain EXP and level up?
GF's level up just like your party members. For example, Ifrit is junctioned to Rinoa, and Rinoa goes into battle and gains 200 EXP. Since Ifrit is junctioned to Rinoa, and Rinoa gained 200 EXP, Ifrit also gains 200 EXP and level up if she reaches her "Next Level" EXP amount. However, if two or more GF's are junctioned to one character, the EXP gained will be divided among the GF's characters. So let's say that both Shiva and Ifrit are junctioned to Rinoa. If Rinoa gets 200 EXP, then Shiva and Ifrit will both gain 100 EXP each.

NOTE: This doesn't apply with AP. Just EXP.

Boost
Boost is one of the easiest GF abilities for your GF to learn. Why? It's only costs at least 10 AP to learn. Once you learn it, hold the Select button down during the GF animation and rapidly press the Square button. Press it until the "X" appears in front of the finger on the screen, then stop. Once the "X" disappears again, resume tapping as quickly as possible. Keep doing this to boost the damage the GF does. This is extremely useful, and should not be
underestimated.

Well after clearing what a GF is in general i can now start the Guide!

Quezacotl

Description: Well Quezacotl is a Greenish type of Thunder Winged Snake, it’s a good guardian force with a deccent damage infliction, and well-balanced abilities, he is also the only GF to have the Card Command Ability, and the Card Mod Menu Ability and the only Thunder GF in the game, so you can use him for elemental advantage

Compability: Quezacotl is a good all-around compability GF, i usually junction him to Squall and never take him, but if you want to increase some party member’s magic abilities or just to enhance the resistance of a character Quezacotl is a great option allowing either some offense power or a stats build up.

Character Reccomended- Squall, Selphie or Irvine

Where To Find – In Squall’s study panel in the classroom in the beginning of the game or Quistis will give it to you as soon as you reach the main gate.

Tips: Play a little with the order of his ability’s learning card and card mod in the begining can be quite useful.

Card: Win the Card from Mayor Dobe from Fisherman’s Horizon in a card game.

Shiva

Description: Shiva is an Final Fantasy Old-Timer, so you probably recognize her from other games, she is a ice woman with a deadly ice atatck, she will be one of your main attack GF’s through the game, since there are many ice weakness monsters and she has good powers, she can sharpen your attacking and defense stats, she has a great ability called Doom CA

Compability- Shiva is one GF that will change your characters compabilty for life, so you have to decide wich one you want to choose, Quistis is good and she has good compability with Shiva, but since you probably will have a fighter on your party i recommend on using it to sharpen his main stats such as vitality and strength and to also help you gaining resistance to magic, giving Shiva to a Healer or Magic bases character may be a good option but then you would waste str-J.

Character Reccomended- Quistis, Zell or Irvine

Where To Find- In Squall’s study panel in the classroom in the beginning of the game or Quistis will give it to you as soon as you reach the main gate

Tips: If you’re really going to use it on a magic based character try to learn Doom as fast as you can, this way you can always take out some monsters at ease, str-J will also come in handy throughout the game

Ifrit

Description: Also one of Final Fantasy old-timer, the fire god is back in VIII and more powerful than ever, he will be a good offensive GF but will start off a little weak, but if you give him a time he will become very powerful, he has also the advantage of being an fire element GF so keep an eye on that, as for his abilities goes he’s one of the best GF’s to build up a Fighter or Squall with his str upgrades.

Compability

Just like Shiva junctioning Ifrit can cause big changes in your compability so be very careful before junctioning him to a character, one of the best bets is to junction him to Squall, because it will give you the power you need for limit breaks to deal powerful damages, he’s good for anyone that you feel in need for str, i found him quite useful with Selphie.

Characters Recommended: Squall, Irvine, Selphie

Where To Find : Fire Cavern ~ Boss

Battle Strategy – Well this is the game’s first boss so dying is almost impossible, cast Shiva and use blizzard if you have it, if you need cover from damage you can always use Quezacotl, after about 6-10 turns Ifrit should lose, and he will join the party.

Tips: Ifrit has Elem-J ability as soon as you get it, make good use of it since it’s an important ability, don’t give up on Ifrit just for eing weaker than the other two GF give him a chance and he will grow in powers

Siren
(http://imageshack.us)
Description: Siren is a mermaid with wings on her head and playing the harp, altough she can’t do much damage she can cast silence on all characters, but what really mathers in Siren isn’t the damage are the awesome abilities that she carry’s right from the moment you get her, she isn’t an offensive GF so use her to build up stats.

Compability: Siren is a GF that cost a little to grow in a character, so you have to be patient, any of the girls will do especially Quistis, Status junction are great for an attacker or for a healer/attacker.

Characters Recommended: All the Girls, but mainly Quistis.

Where To Find It: Draw it from Elvoret in the Communication Tower during the field exam.

Battle Strategy: This guy can be a pain if you didn’t get used to the game yet, first thing is to use the weakest character ( probably the one with the weakest junction) and draw Siren, then you can get to the fight, if you don’t want to use junctioned cures from your characters don’t hesitate and cast cure from Elvoret, keep using Shiva and Ifrit, whenever your HP gets low use the character with Quezacotl as the healer, keep at it until you have Shiva and Ifrit with low HP, Quezacotl should still have medium HP so use it now, if your Selphie gets to use Slots try and find Full-Cure, it will help you a bunch, Elvoret will keep hitting you so use all GF’s without hesitate, if you run out of GF’s use regular limits and attacks, you should take him down after a while.

Tips: Since you won’t use Siren much for attacks try and make her learn her junctioning abilities, she has also a great Character Ability called Move- Find so be sure to check it.

Card: Win the pub owner of Dollet two times in a card game.

Brothers
(http://imageshack.us)
Description: Brothers are two minotaur brothers that cast a sort of over powered quake, they are good for boosting, and they’r summoning is one of the best in the game, the problem is most bosses are guarded against quake so Brothers will be most of the time useless in important battles, what Brothers loose in battle they compensate in abilities, they are the most powerful GF when it comes to HP junctioning giving you the chance to have 9999 HP in level 50, they are quite useful in building a characters stats

Compability: Brothers is also a GF that has to grow slowly on you, use it in a Fighter or to help a weak character to grow, Zell is a good choice throughout the game so keep that on mind.

Characters Reccomended: Zell, Irvine.

Where To Find It: Do The Tomb of The Unknown King Puzzle

The Puzzle: When you first enter the tomb go up one screen and
you'll find a sword on the ground, it should have the ID number on it. Write
this number down, now if you want, you can leave. If you want a new GF
continue. Make a right at the fork here, go around the
curved path, make a right at the fork, go around the curved path, make a right
at the fork, head straight, examine the minotaur here.
Keep in mind that this whole temple is based on YOUR perspective, so when
leave it's going to look almost the same as it did when you came. Just follow
my specific directions and you'll be fine. Head down from where you fought
Sacred, then up, make a right at the fork, go around the curved path, make a
right at the fork, go around the curved path, make a right at the fork, head
straight up. Use the draw point here (seriously) and hope you get a lot of
the Float spell. Next use the controls on the right side to open the
floodgate. Leave this room. Now head up, go up at the fork, make a right at
the fork, go up at the fork, go around the curved path, make a right at the
fork, go straight up. Now examine the handle on the right to remove it. Also
check out the right corner for a Cura draw point which is invisible. Head
down to leave the room, now go up, go up at the fork, make a right at the
fork, make a left at the fork, make a left at the fork, head straight up. You
should now be inside staring at the miniotaur. Note that if you're still
looking for this area, it's in the exact middle directly up from the entrance.
( Thanks in part for Gamefaqs for the second part of the guide since i got lost)

Battle Strategy for Sacred: Ok, this guy isn’t as though as it looks, that club only deals 100hp damage so don’t worry, you should be careful because he has auto-regen and will recover HP, he will just keep doing this so, draw some magic from him if you want and keep throwing your most powerful GF’s at him, don’t let him breathe and you’l be fine keep an eye on your HP because you don’t want to get a surprise, he will be down with after a while.
Battle Strategy for Minotaur and Sacred: Well if you were expecting this battle to be as easy as the last one you are wrong, this guys combined give a lot of work so be sure you’re healed before the battle.
These guys will cooperate as much as they can , Sacred will be the same as last time so you know what his gonna do, one thing you’l have to watch out is his older brother Minotaur, he also has a normal attack doing as much as Sacred’s attack, after a while they will start using a 400 damage attack called Mad Cow, this will take you a little of time to recover, using GF’s is your best options because they can take the damage and do some too, just don’t over do it on the GF’s because they can reach 0 HP and then you will have to fight the Brothers with regular attacks, use a member as a healer in order to keep in the battle, use an offensive/support character using GF’s when the party’s HP is high and supporting when the party HP is low, and use a fighter who keeps using GF’s, if you have a hard time in keeping your hp up draw and cast Brother’s protect and float this way you can avoid mad cow and reduce the damage from regular attacks, also if you think they’re hp recoverings are annoying cast float on them and they will stop using it.

Tips: Get the HP Bonus as fast as you can, 30 HP bonus by level is always good.

Cards: Defeat the Brothers and you will acquire both cards.

Diablos:
Description: Diablos is what you can call a Final Fantasy Devil, he’s a demon with large black wings and huge claws, and sharpened teeth, he may seem weak at first, but as he keeps leveling up he turns into one of the most powerful GF’s in the game, his atatck is a target all Demi but it’s a Demi that keeps doing more damage by the level, he will do damage proportional to his level, like if he is at level 60 he will do 60% of the enemy’s HP of damage, if you are at least able to follow this you will know how much damage he does at level 100%, the maximum amount of damage he can do is 9999, and MOST bosses are immune to Demi so don’t think Diablos is the way to an easy win.
He is also a Great GF when it comes to ability’s the first thing you should try to get is Mug because it will be one of the most precious ability’s in the game, he has HP junctioning, as well as HP up so keep in mind that, he has also AbilityX3 that is always useful.

Compatibility: This GF has a hard time in growing in characters, but he is good with both Irvine and Squall, since they are both fighters and Diablo’s is a fighter’s Gf i suggest you to junction to them, using Diablos in other characters would be quite dumb since Mug wouldn’t take much damage and would take time from supportive characters in battles.

Characters Recommended: Irvine, Squall.

Where To Find It: When you are dispatched to Timber make sure you talk with Cid after he briefs you on the mission he will give you an item called Magical Lamp, choose it from the Items Menu and the battle should start, you can use it at anytime in the game.

Battle Strategy: As soon as the battle begin use someone with Blind and cast it on Diablos, if you get lucky he will become blinded, there’s a way to take great amounts of HP from Diablos and that way is by drawing and castig his Demis, the bad part is that most of the time it misses, be sure to have a healer whenever he casts Demi ( Can’t kill you), or Gravija ( This one can kill), be sure to be always hgh on HP or he can give you a regularr hit after Gravija who will kill a character, just send him powerful Gf’s draw his Demis’ use limit break’s when you can afford to, and keep an eye on your HP and you should be fine.

Tips: Get Mug as soon as possble, then try to rise your compabiliy with him, get the HP-J and the HP + abilities as soon as possible.

Carbuncle :

Description: Carbuncle is a blue/green little sprite like creature, it’s a defensive GF so some players usually don’t like to use it, he’s atatck casts reflect in all party members which can sometimes be a bummer if you rely on healing magic to much, the good thing about Carbuncle are his abilities he has great abilities such as Stats-ATK-J wich is quite useful, he has AbiltyX3 that is a Plus, he has HP-J which can be used to build up HP, also there’s Counetr that can be useful to any kind of character

Compability: You should use Carbuncle on a Healer or a Supporter, a good combos is Carbuncle and Siren on Quistis, this way your Quistis will have an amazing GF combo.

Characters Recommended: Quistis, Selphie.

Where To Find It: Draw from an Iguion on the end of Disc 1.

Battle Strategy: Alright this battle is quite easy, first draw Carbuncle from a Iguion ( Both of them have him) then start casting GF’s and using limit’s, the battle will end quite soon.

Tips: Learn Counter first or you’l only get it after a while, try to get HP-J as fast as you can.

Leviathan:
Description: Leviathan is a winged water serpent, he is a mixed package, he is a powerful GF but there aren’t many GF’s with weakness of water, so you can’t actually use the elemental advantage much, but what really shines in this GF it’s his Abilities, being Recover a jewel, allowing you to have the ultimate support character with no reliance on magic, it can give you both advantages on Offense and Defense with abilities such as Elem-ATK-J and Elem-DEF-J X 2, Auto-Potion, Spr-J and Mag-J are the way to create the ultimate supportive or healer character.

Compability: Leviathan also plays favourites, he also prefers girls, Rinoa and Selphie, you should junction to one of them because they work great, i usually use Rinoa since i don’t junction much to her, the character that you will choose must be supportive or an all-around or else you will be loosing some of the goods of Leviathan’s capability

Characters Recommended: Rinoa or Selphie

Where To Find It: Draw From Norg in Balamb Garden B1 floor in Disc 2

Battle Strategy: NORG is not hard you just have to keep focus, draw Leviathan from him as soon as possible then you can fight him, this battle ain’t too tough but you have to be careful, when you see the two orbs in the same coulor attack one of them immediatly this way you can prevent the orbs from casting magic, keep an eye on your HP and keep summoning and using limits, NORG will come out of his Pod so you can hit him better with physical attacks, he isn’t hard just don’t get distracted or you can be seriously damaged by the orbs magic.

Tips: Try and Get Revive and Auto-Potion First, use him constantly if he is junctioned to a supporter because that way the supportive character can do some major damage.

Pandemona
(http://imageshack.us)
Description: The Giant Humanoid/ Birdish creature of the wind is like Leviathan a mixed character, but Pandemona isn’t very powerful altough it’s one of the GF’s with the most Boost power, he isn’t very useful in battle but has some good ability’s that can consolidate a character’s stats, he is a good character to be junctioned to fighters.

Compability: Pandemona has great compability with the Girls so you can just junction him to them making a good combo, i usually go for Rinoa or Selphie but it works on Quistis aswell, use Pandemona to increase the offensive power of a weak character

Characters Recommended: Selphie, Rinoa, Quistis, Irvine.

Where To Find: Draw him from Fujin in Disc 2 Balamb Town Boss fight.

Battle Strategy: First of all don’t use neither wind magic or thunder magic or Fujin and Raijin will absorve the damage, draw Pandemona from Fujin that way she looses some of her wind attacks, now concentrate on Raijin he’s under aura and he isn’t going easy on you so hit him as hard as you can using limit’s and GF’s he should go down after a while, now recover your Characters HP and concentrate on Fujin’s attacks, watch out for Fan.

Tips: Try to get Absorb and Iniciative and then Auto-Reflect that way you can have the greatest benefits from Pandemona in a quick way.

Cerberus
(http://imageshack.us)
Description: The King of Strategy, The Dog of Hell Cerberus is one of the most powerful GF’s in the game, he isn’t an offensive one but his attack Counter Rockets are incredibily useful for magic casters, allowing to use haste and the sort on all party in one turn, Cerberus abilities are also pretty useful having some of the most useful junctioning abilities, including ST-DEF-J X4, and Auto-Haste, Cerberus should be one of your top GF’s so don’t underestimate him.

Compability: Cerberus also has a weak spot for girls, but usually he is more a GF to a fighter or in some cases a supporter so i recommend on using it on either Irvine, Squall or Selphie, he’s auto-haste ability is great in a quick hiter character and Selphie would work great with him.

Characters Recommended: Irvine, Squall, Selphie.

Where To Find: Galbadia Hotel, Disc 2, Main Hall in that shining light ray.

Battle Strategy: Like in Fujin and Rajin don’t use Quezacotl or thunder magic based GF, because he will gain life from it, he can be a hard foe, he likes to use triple so if you can use dispel on him, or else keep a track on your HP, also cast float on the party because he likes to use Quake a lot so watch out, use GF’s and keep hitting him with some limit’s, he has an attack that take most of your HP so don’t get too low on HP just for the limits strike him with your best GF’s and use the weaker when you expect an attack to use GF’s as shield, have some esunas and use demi too.

Tips: With his triple ability you can make up great battle strategies so junction and work on him as afst as you can

Alexander:
Description: Alexander is a holy Cool-Loking robot, he is a awesome GF both in damage and ability’s, he is a GF that is made for Healers and Supporters, but he has the power of a regular offensive GF, his ability’s really shine specially Revive and he is necessary on acquiring Doomtrain, so he should be one good addition to your GF’s

Compability: This one is clearly a GF for a defensive character, Revive is an amazing ability, he can also give attack power so giving him to a fighter isn’t that bad.

Characters Recommend: Selphie, Rinoa

Where To Find: End of Disc 2 in Galbadia Garden, draw from Edea

Battle Strategy: Ok first you’l fight Seifer, use Diablos and Squall limit’s have one party member recovering Hp on your party and other casting GF’s, use Cerberus for spepding the recovering method, also cast ahste if possible, he will sometimes use an limit but nothing to worry about, after a while he will loose once more, and Edea will come up to fight you, use the first character to draw Alexander, don’t sue Carbuncle because Edea will cast reflect on herslef so reflect won’t help, you may triple some demis or use Diablos this way you’l damage her quickly, use any GF since she is well resistant against all magic, watch out for Maelstrom because that can be a little annyoying keep healing and if possible cast meltdown, after winnig the battle Alexander is yours.

Tips: Start by getting his Menu Abilities because they are quite useful and needed for Doomtrain, after try and get Revive that is a great ability.

Doomtrain:
Description: If this guy looks familiar is because he looks like Final Fantasy VI ( III US) Boss Ghost Train or something like that, in VIII he is only acquired by a rather long side-quest but he is worth it, his attack does small damage and inflicts all status aliments in enemys( Yes this include the Final Boss), his ability’s are also vey good including Elem-ATK-J, Elem-DEF-J X 4 ST-ATK- J and ST-DEF X4, he is a awesome build-up character and strategy GF.

Compability: This one fits anyone really, he takes time to grow on a character but with some training he will turn into a great GF, I usually give him to a support character or to someone that is weak, give to someone who doesn’t have any of his ability’s.

Characters Recommended: Squall, irvine, Rinoa

Bahamut:
Description:You can find Bahamut in the Deep Sea Research Center it's in the inferior right corner. Make your way to the blue glass thing in the room and a voice will ask you a series of questions. If your having troubles getting to the Blue capsule walk instead of run. After each one, you'll have to face a tough Ruby Dragon. After the third question, he will fight you. Defeat him, and you will recieve him as a GF. The answers to his questions are "It is not our will to fight", "Never", and then the hidden option below the second option.Answer incorrectly, and you will have to fight a Ruby Dragon THEN answer the question again.
Bahamut is also a old.-timer, his abilities are great and he is an offensive GF, he has great attack ability’s and he was made for atatcking Characters, his abilty’s are awesome incluiding Mug, he’s atatck doesn’t get influenced by the enemy’s status and elemental defenses being this a great advantage, he has other great abilities called Rare Find, and Auto-Protect and Ability X4 is Great.

Compability: He is made for offense so using him on defensive characters isn’t the best option, so just use him to enhance a offensive character, i recommend on giving it to a character that doesn’t have Diablos so you could make use of Mug.

Characters Reccomended: Irvine, Squall.

Where To Find: Deep Sea Research Center, the blue glass type object in the middle of the room.

Battle Strategy: Start off by summon Cerberus then cast triple haste, and cast blind and meltdown on Bahamut, being Blind his attacks are a poor excuse, then have one member summoning the most powerful GF, Squall using limit’s ( cast aura) and a character on standby for healing, if you get problems use the summoning character as a second healer the battle shouldn’t take long.

Tips: Just train all abilities, try and get Mug.

Cactaur:
Description: One of Final Fantasy most famous monster is a GF in VIII is back, he is quite hard to get but he is worth it, his ability’s an his attack are great, he is good with weak characters because he has already learned Bonus ability’s and using those can help to build up character, he’s attack is amazing because like Diablos the needles take the same damage as his level, so try to get him.

Compability: Weak Characters can be quite good, but i recommend using in a supportive character specially if it’s like a quick hiter because Cactaur can enhance eva and spd to quite high stats

Character Recommended: Selphie, Rinoa, Zell

Where To Find: Cactaur island sandy small island near Centra with a Green Dot, go up to the Dot and the battle will begin.

Battle Strategy: He is quite a strong boss, he will use 10 000 needles so use Full-Life and , use water magic and Leviathan, also cast Meltdown, Triple Haste, and Squall limits, keep your HP up and when someone gets 10 000 needles worry on surviving Kerplunk, when it says he is hesitating, use one attack a powerful one or he will run away.

Tips: Train Luck + 50% and Eva + 30% that will build up well a character

Tonberry:
Description: Again one of the most opular enemy’s in Final Fantasy appears as an GF in VIII, altough he is not very keen in battle he has awesome abilities, specially Menu ones, he can be useful in battle but he is more a build-up GF, also he only atatcks one enemy at a time, he has Lvl Up and Dwn, wich can help you acquiring items and help you in battle, he also has Luck+50% wich makes him a great buildup GF

Compability: He is a weak offensive character and boost doesn’t do much for him so he is a build up, since everyone has good GF’s by now iI suggest on giving him to Quistis, that way Quistis becomes a great character.

Characters Recommend: Quistis

Where To Find: Centra Ruins, kill about 18-22 Tonberry’s and kill Tonberry King, it takes hard work and strong will to finish this task.

Battle Strategy: Tonberry: For regular Tonberry cast Triple Haste, then Meltdown and for end Squall in Aura, with the other two characters summon GF’s with Squall use limits, he will die soon ( Note: You can exit the Ruins and your Tonberry count won’t reset)
King Tonberry: He is faster and stronger and inflicts more damage, keep an eye on our HP, because he has a deadly Counter-Attack called Junk wich takes lots of HP, i Recommend using the regular tactic, but as soon as you get dealt by Junk heal, be sure to have Revive and Recover to use at anytime.

Tips: Train his Menu Ability’s then Luck+50% and Eva+30%.

Description: As many as me doesn’t know what the hell is Eden i found some theories on it, i heard that some people think it’s the Garden in Time-Compression and others think it’s based on the Garden of Eden, he is a offensive Gf and the only way you have to break Damage Limit besides Squalls Lionheart, he has some great abilities, and he has the most longest animation so he has the most Boost rate.

Compability: He is amde for fighters use it on fighters, he has great abilities, including Devour a great ability

Characters Recommended: Squall, Irvine.

Where To Find: Deep Sea Research Center, you have to get to the bottom and it never gest easy, so it’s betetr be prepared, you have to draw him from ultima Weapon wich is one of the toughest bosses in the game.

Battle Strategy: Alright, cast Doomtrain and keep two healers concetrating on Squall, use Gf’s when Ultima isn’t attacking you, one of them can use Summons, make sure you have Triple for haste and cast Meltdown on him, then use your limits and keep your life up and you should be fine, dont use phoenix downs, use Full-Life or Revive because Ultima will kill the character again in no time.

Tips: Try to learn how to use Devour because it may come in handy.

Thanks To: Gast, for giving me (Tidus 66) the location of all the Occult Fans, to Agent0042, for allowing me to work on this project, to Gamefaqs for help in the tables ( Just Got the ideas i never copy pasted altough i use them to chek if i was correct), to FFS for providing me the pics for the Cards and GF’s, and also to Square Hybrid III for the info on Mini-Mog, Boco, and finally thanks to my co-worker Yui who hlped me in the GF’s introduction, made the search on the secondary GF’s and allowing me to use the Tomb Of Unknown King Map, and for doing the secondary GF section^^

This is a work by Tidus 66 and Yui and is a Final Fantasy Shrine Exclusive

This Is The FINAL Version of the Guide

The previous updates have been made: - Original Eden Abilties Table
Devour List was taken
Bold and Underline in Titles, some Font changes, GF Item List

Note: Again i say, some of the tables were originally from guides but for avoiding problems i have taken them off, and did ones using the guides as guidelines and "blueprints" so they are still practically the same, thanks for the Trouble

Wow, it's very detailed and it has pictures. Nice work! I noticed that you have some tables in there. You might wanna consider using a fixed-length font like Courier New in order for them to show up better.

Nice. Some very good info. Well done.

Agent0042

Cool. I still think you should consider changing the font on the tables.

Tidus 66
11-16-2005, 05:47 PM
Already did, at least in GF profiles and the HP attack tables, also i want this to be tagged as an FFS exclusive.

Next Update: Eden Abilities table

Well, I think you tried to, but I don't think the tagging is correct. Would you like me to fix it?

also i want this to be tagged as an FFS exclusive.
That'll happen once that's ready...

Next Update: Eden Abilities table
Cool.

Yeah sure, go ahead

Updates: GF item list

Agent0042
11-16-2005, 05:54 PM
Okay, thanks, taking care of it now...

Edit --- Hmm, I gotta go. I'll take care of it later. Actually, it may be right and maybe I'm wrong. Stay tuned...

Edit 2 --- I just noticed that you took the Devour list from GameFAQs. You can't copy other people's guide information without permission. If you didn't get permission, you're going to have to remove it.

very well done!!! How long did it take you though?

Tidus 66
11-16-2005, 09:03 PM
@Agent: I'm waiting for a reply in the mean time i guess i'l take it :)

@Zell: About 10 hours or so

10 hours you gotta be freaking kidding me.
The longest ive spent on a post is about 2 mins

Agent0042
11-16-2005, 09:07 PM
Okay, thanks Tidus 66. As long as they give permission, you're welcome to put it back then. Oh, and it's actually that particular table that I was asking about seeing formatted in Courier New.

Tidus 66
11-16-2005, 09:12 PM
Yeah, i can't seem to get it, so i guess the Devour list is off, it wasn't that helpful though, so i'm semi-permanently taking it off
Also, some tables are identical to a Faq at GameFAQS :( but since i made them by hand and only checked and use as guidelines i can't call that a copyright infringment or can I?

BTW, this is the Final Version Of The Guide, i was still thinking of adding a name curiosity but it's taking me more time that i thought so i call this the end of the FAQ

The Faq is now 100% free of copyright infrigment altough the tables are exactly the same as before but this time i've done them alone and only checked and used the same structure

@Rude666: This is a guide so it should take long

Agent0042
11-16-2005, 11:58 PM
Tidus 66 --- I don't think anyone's ever going to get on your case for table-formatting, but if you already re-did them, I guess that's okay. I'm not sure what you mean by a "name curiosity."

Tidus 66
11-17-2005, 06:23 PM
Lol, Yui gave her aproval, a name curiosity is like where did the GF's names where come up to like Quezacotl was a American Natives god and was a snake with wings in ancient mythology and things like that

Mine only took me about 1 hour, but it was mostly from memory, and it wasn't very long.

edit: 700th post! Hurray!

I really don't think that's necessary. But it still sounds like a good idea. :)

Nice guide! A couple things though.

-I was just wondering, since I've never owned a pocket station, what's the exact name of the ability you get when you summon MiniMog? Or does it just say "MiniMog" at the top of the screen?
-Eden is simply a garden. As in, like Balamb, Trabia, and Galbadia. Think of it as a pun... schools/training academies are called GARDENs in the FF8 universe (no more than an alternative definition with no connection to our meaning of the word). So... the GARDEN of Eden. Eden looks like a giant garden. As for why it would have a laser that blasts you into another dimension... well, Balamb garden can FLY, if that says anything. Plus, it's just a GF, not some physical place in the FF8 universe, and it happens to resemble a garden, and "Eden" is a catchy name for it.
-One of the secondary GF's is missing... Moomba. Another pocketstation item, "Friendship" calls this. I have no clue what this thing does though...
