My first post (I feel proud)...

Was reading through the fourm, and I didn't see this trick, so I figured I'de add it... The easiest way I've found to get 99 sphere levels quickly is:

1. (this is the hard part) Fill up the monster arena some... Catch monsters from every area, I did not catch 10 of all the monsters from all of the areas when I first did it, but I forgot what exact monsters you need to catch...

2. Get weapons for your three favorite characters with 3 open slots and put into these weapons Tripple Overdrive, AP to overdrive, and Tripple AP. I got most of the items required to add those abilities through rewards for catching monsters.

3. get atleast two armor pieces with auto pheonix and stock up on 99 pheonix downs.

4. Set all of your overdrives to either Stoic or Comrade

5. Fight Don Tonberry in the monster arena. Since you dont have break damage limit the most damage you will do to him at one time is 9999 and he will always counter with an attack based on the number of monsters you've killed. If you have killed over 10,000 monsters he will hit you for 99999 damage. 99999 damage going into overdrive, trippled, transfered to ap than trippled again will give out TONS of AP. Since you have auto pheonix you dont have to waist time reviving party members. So at the end of the battle you will get 99 Sphere Levels.

"Sphere Level" is just the term used for a level up in FFX (kinda goes with the sphere grid thing)

It makes your stats go up dont it, I never got them, I heard you get them from the Monster Arena when you get all the monsters, all I am missing is the tonberrys then I should get them.
(Sorry that was a bit winded)

i find the most efficient way to do this is to have one character with incredibly low hp, who has preferably killed loads of fiends, have him/her set to stoic and only attack the Don's with that character while the other two just revive and haste the attacker and are set to comrade.

Then when the tonberry is too close to use karma or whatever, just change the weapon of the other two characters to something with break damage and kill it in one or two attacks

this is very similar to yours, but i thought i'd mention it anyway

and yes rude, sphere lvls do increase your stats in a way. The ap you gain from battle goes towards the sphere level and when you've gained some you can move around the sphere grid learning skills and attributes etc

Thats right. That is the quickest way. I have spent HOURS trying all sorts of methods, i can say without a doubt, the above post is IT.

Also:
You have Spears but it takes a level (gained through ap) to use it. One level gained means you can travel one space on the grid (or four backwards) Once you use a spear you need to travel to the next open slot, to activate another spear. In order to travel you need level's, attained by AP.
If it was not clear hope, that makes it better.

This thread pops up every once in a while, so I'm fine with it. It's probably dropped to the fth page or something, so I won't complain about that. It's just that I can't help feeling that everyone can read something like gamefaqs and post the same thing here in different words. I'm not attacking you though.
