No he doesn't die, he's only knocked out, if Squall was dead Rinoa wouldn't be all smiley in the end neither Zell and the others, it would be Squall's funeral, i don't know why everyone wants him to be dead, hell he found his way by thinking of the meeting point and Rinoa found him

Now why would he be in the CGI during the credits if he was dead?

well thanks i just fought he was dead because in the cgi in the credits you only see them with the camera looking at rinoa and right at the end you see squall, guess i fought he was a ghost

I say he got lost in the time compression, was no the verge of death and Rinoa, being the sorceress she is, got him back and saved his life.

Also: I also think Rinoa being a sorceress has nothing to do with it. All the blurry images in the ending(showing Rinoa and the others...) just meant that it was time being mixed up(Time Compression...).
