Hi I have just registered today as I am tryng to find the piano collections or OST sheetmusic for a piece called 'martial law'. It is listed on the ffmuic.ffshrine site but the link is inactive as it is not underlined and the hand icon does not appear.

a) Can anyone give me a link to somewhere which has the sheet music for this martial law please?

b) what does OST stand for

c) why is there considerably less Piano collections arrangements of the music that the OST sheet music? I mean the piano collections are decent piano arrangements where as the OST collections tend to be very simplified.

I am not sure how many people come on here and how fast the conversations work so here is my e-mail address in case I need to contact quicker via msn messenger. [email protected]

Thanks in advance, I look forward to hearing from someone soon.

Neil

ost stands for original soundtrack.

there are considerably less piano collections arrangements because piano arrangement selections are the sheet music from the music arranged for piano- which is typically a single cd.

if you can't find the music on our site it probably isn't available period. although you're welcome to look around at other sites

Yeah the piece is called martial law. If you are familiar with the game it is the music that plays while you are wandering around timber on disc 3.

Don't get me wrong I am completely satisfied with the amount of sheet music I have gotten over the past few weeks I just wish that there were more piano collections as the arrangements sound better on a piano. They are proper piano parts and not just single crotchet bass notes and a simplified melody.

I am not sure if you are connected to ffmuic.ffshrine but a link from there takes me to here. I have just remembered that nowhere on any site can I obtain the ffx-2 sheet music. That site I mentioned lists them but the links are inactive.

If its not too much trouble would you visit this link and tell me if you are experiencing the same thing? There are 61 pieces listed but only 6 of them are underlined and produce the hand icon. And those 6 lead to midi or audio files not sheetmusic.

I am not sure why this is as the links for every other FF on that site are all active and take you to OST sheetmusic and piano collections sheetmusic.

thanks in advance!

those are fan transcriptions. and the bottom line is that it takes time for those transcriptions to be done. x-2 is the newest final fantasy game. wait a few years and the collection will be a whole lot more complete

The Final Fantasy 11's are the most recent and there is a full collection on the same site so that is why I am confused. I think it is an error on the site and I have contacted them with no reply. As I was sent here via a link on their site I just assumed you were linked in some way?

Assuming you did check that link I sent you to the FFX-2 page now have a look at their FFXI page to see what I mean.....

I don't run ffmusic, but I did supply the sheet music to the owner.

also my guess is that the ff11 sheet music is scans of official sheet music, while the ffx-2 are fan transcriptions.

so piano collections are just transcribed by pianists and submitted randomly?

and ost transcriptions were written by nobuo himself?

And say if i want a particular piece that isnt listed or an active link, can you possibly contact people to get it?

if it isn't listed it's because we couldn't find it in the first place.

here's how it works: someone makes the music for a game. fans decide they want to turn the game music into sheet music. these are called fan transcriptions.

sometimes companies in japan will sell collections of sheet music from the games. these are referred to as scans. some games don't have official sheet music books though.

some game music albums have arranged versions for the piano, usually done by the original composer. the far majority of games never get piano arranged soundtracks. frequently when a project like this is done, a sheet music book will be released to accompany it. sometimes these books are scanned.

in general if you're only able to find a few songs with sheet music for a game, it's because no official sheet music collection book was ever released or was ever scanned by anyone. then all that's available are fan transcriptions.

The best ones are the ones that have the japanese symbols just underneath the title. The transcriptions are small like proper piano scores and not the ost large format.

yeah ok so I guess you can't help me. Thanks for clearing everything up though.

yeah, the reason they're in japanese is because the books were released in japan ^^

you can always look into buying the sheet music depending on how desperate you are to find it

Well I was going to buy the FF Sheet Music:Best Of book and the FF: Best of audio soundtrack from ebay but they were quite pricey at around 40 dollars each. Then I stumbled across these 2 sites which offered FREE transcriptions. I quickly realised that I really liked the Piano collections sections and found that the OSTs where rather vague and simplified.

I have downloaded and printed off every piece on the site and spent hours playing them. Its just that I still don't have certain pieces as they are listed but don't produce a hand symbol. The following pieces are some I have still to find and really want....

a) Besaid island (ffx-2)
b) Martial law (ff8)
c) Currents of time (ff11:chains of promathia)
d) The final song from Dark Chronicle
e) The menu screen from kingdom hearts (I think it is called dearly beloved)
