Has anyone ever managed to get a perfect score on the Field Exam? I know the highest rank you can get is 10, and I've done that, but can you get a 100 on everything including the bonus? Because I don't think you can get a 100 in conduct if you get the bonus, because you have to kill X-ATM092 about five times. But has anyone done it before?

You already said it. You can't earn a perfect because if you get the bonus, you have to fight X-ATM092 (twice actually, I'm not sure where you get five from.) And because it takes a little while, you lose out on the time bonus.

I haven't done it before, because of X-ATMO92. Just like what FF1WithAllThieves and Agent0042 said.

I tried to fight X-ATMO92 once, but I lost a lot of time and I didn't succeed. :(

You notice how sometimes, even when you bring it's HP down to 0, it still gets up? Well, it does this for a set number of times. After five or so, if it's not the first fight, it stops repairing itself and you can (finally) kill it. That's where I got the five from, just to let you know.

Oh, you confused me because you said "kill." See, I was thinking of the first time that you have to escape from that and then any time after that, you can kill it. (But yeah, you have to take down several times within that battle before it's finally toast.)

I've gotten a max of SeeD level 7. You can only kill the X-ATMO92 on the bridge. Or at least that's what I heard.

Agent0042

I don't think that's true --- you can kill the sucker any time after the first escape. Escaping from it once will not count against your points, because you have to. Escaping any further times does. I could be wrong on that first part, though...

Well the guy who told me the thing about the bridge is somewaht reliable, so it might not be right. All I know is that to kill the X-ATMO92 you need to be pretty damn strong.

You mean they're somewhat unreliable?

I looked on gamefaqs.com and found that one faq-writer said that you didn't have to kill it on the bridge, and that he himself managed to kill it elsewhere. Now that I think about it, you can probably save quite a bit of time if you kill it earlier because you can kill it before the screen where you have to walk to keep from getting stunned by it.

Anyway, the last two times I did it I got a rank of 10, and the faq said that's the highest possible, so it's pretty much pointless to go for a completely perfect score for any reason other than bragging rights (as my name itself is a testament to, this can be a bit of a strong motivator to me). However, I think I know how to make it possible. You see, the way I killed it was to bring Squall's HP down and use Renzokuken. Of course, I did this after gaining Str J, Card, and Card Mod, as well as T mag rf, and I modded Abyss Worm cards into windmills to get tornados. Also, I got Str + 40%, so I definitely worked at it to get ready for this. However, I think it's possible to take it one really big step further. If you look at the strategy guide, you notice that X-ATM092, like most early bosses, has a set amount of HP, and consequently don't level up their HP with you. If you can gain the Str Bonus ability and level Squall up enough and junction 100 Thundagas (mod Blitz cards into dynamo stones into thundagas) to his elemental attack, I'm sure he could do enough damage to kill X-ATM092 in one blow. This, of course, would be much, much less time-consuming than using Renzokuken or summoning Quezacotl, and it would probably make it possible to make it back within 25 minutes. Of course, this is hypothetical, because I have a girlfriend, and, consequently, a life these days, but i think it would be possible, since I managed a time of 22 minutes last time with Renzokuken.

Well, I hope you were bored and didn't have any pressing engagements, but that's how it could be done.

It does sound like a plausible theory. Very interesting. I'm not sure I'd wanna test it though...

No need really you can just do tests

Well, of course there's no actual need, I don't think that's in debate...

Well, I already established that the highest rank you can start with is 10, and I've gotten that already. Look at my name. Can you tell what my motivation is for a lot of my video game feats? That's why I'm asking about getting a perfect.

Highest I got was 9, and that was running like there was no future from that "Black Widow". It wasn't my first play, second I think, I and I have the Strategy Guide.

You only have to fight it once. on the part of the cliff where you stumble and get caught you just walk. Then at the bridge part when it jumps over you just start running back where you came from and it will jump back after you, then you start running for the shore again.

What I meant by that is that you have to get into two battles. And you can't defeat it the first time --- you're required to run away from it.

Yeah i got it...took me hard work :)

-Don't jump when Selphie jumps
- Kill the X-ATOM092
- Beat 70 enemies with only attack
- Reach The Beach quickly
-Don't move when you see Biggs in the top of the tower
- Choose 10 min option when you are in the fire cavern
- When Ifrit's HP is low just pond him with attack or Ice attacks
- Don't talk to anyone on the Field Exam just keep following Seifer
-Always do what Seifer tells you to do

I dont see the point in being so obsessed about the field exam.
I just cheat the written tests so I can get a high salary anways

Well, I will give that it's hardly worth towing the line to that punk Seifer in order to get a better score.

Basically you can only beat this boss the seoncd time you fight it i.e. the first time you HAVE to run away.

The second time you just have to knock it down five or six times. On its sixth return if you beat it down to 0 dmg, it will die (you get an Orihalcon btw)
Note: Quezacoatl is excellent for killing this guy. Ifrit the worst, and Shive should technnically be your strongest GF at this point, so she does a fair amount of damage (if you have boost on all these guys ofc :P)

And no...as you pointed out...you cannot get a perfect score :p

Playing the game until the discs have been read so much that they don't work does help =]
