Right, another plot holes thread, this one should be loads easier, X-2 was quite sketchy in some places, don't you think.

Agent0042
10-26-2005, 09:56 PM
Well, if you're going to start a thread saying you thought FFX-2 was sketchy and had plot holes, than you'll need to state some. I'll do my best to shoot down every one of them.

Yui

I don't think there's any plot holes in FFX-2. Not that I know of, anyways.

Well, for one, there's the question of where the hell Baralai was when he was hiding out, cuz
******SPOILERS********

He was in Seymour's house all along

So where the hell was he?

That's all I can be bothered to remember right now.

Tidus 66

Wasn't he in Bevelle under Seymour's protection? We never get to see Bevelle so i don't think that is a Plot Hole

Benny
10-27-2005, 06:55 PM
Yeah i think Tidus 66 is right. We never got to explore much of bevelle, and i dont think that there are any plot holes. Well none that i can think of. Can you state another aerithluva69

Agent0042
10-27-2005, 09:01 PM
Yeah, there are plenty of places to hide in Spira, or yeah, even just in Bevelle. That's no plot hole.

aerithluva69
10-28-2005, 06:20 PM
Bloody hell, I haven't played in so long, okay, the point of this thread was for you to tell me plot holes, so, why don't you, instead of hounding me about it, try and think of some yourself. I just said it was sketchy like some things didn't seem to add up at times but I'll be damned if I can remember what those things actually were.

Agent0042
10-28-2005, 08:33 PM
Fine! This thread is about us telling you plot holes and since you apparently don't have any others of your own, I'm just gonna come out and say it --- There are no plot holes. Happy? Shall I close the thread now, since we won't be needing any further discussion on this topic?

aerithluva69

I honestly don't believe that there are no plotholes in that game, surely there has to be one or two, you can't tie up every end in a game like x-2 surely, it's just not possible, is it??? :-(

Listen to the sound of my voice. On the count of three, you shall be completely under my control:

There are no plot holes.
There are no plot holes.
There are no plot holes.
There are no plot holes.
There are no plot holes.
There are no plot holes.

I’ve got one:

In the beginning, LeBlank looks like Yuna when she uses her Dress Sphere. Why would this happen? Yuna wasn’t the first owner of that sphere, and you’re other characters don’t turn into here when they use it. Strange…

Also, there never was any explanation as to why Shuyin looked so much like Tidus…

Benny
11-01-2005, 08:36 AM
I certainly agree with what you first said. The developers obviosly wanted to surprise the players but didnt think about the future problems of it, and i too would like to see why Shuyin looked like Tidus. Where they related?

CecilTheTruePaladin

Maybe Tidus was based on shuyin, fayth not desighners, yuna is Like little yugi to Atem (pharaoh)?, I think thats it for plot holes

they made Suyin like that because Yuna (and we) should think that we saw Tidus in the beginning of the story. afterwards it wasn't. and there are things unsolved, not so long ago i remember someone saying: rikku said (something like that) now you don't get to know my story. paine said: i think i know. that's just made to keep things unsolved, or they had plans for another sequel.

1. Actually, it was a Garment Grid that Leblanc took, not a dressphere. And I would assume that she installed a "Yuna" dressphere (maybe one she created?) onto it in order to transform into Yuna.

2. It's supposed to be a bit of a mystery why Shuyin looks like so much like Tidus.

Maechen: I could sense that he belonged to an otherworld. That he should look so much like the man in that sphere cannot be mere coincidence, I should think.
Yuna: There's a connection.
Maechen: There is. I would very much like the chance to ask him, and clear this
matter up once and for all.

But even Maechen doesn't know exactly what the connection is. And if he doesn't know, perhaps nobody can be entirely sure. But Tidus is a dream of the Fayth. Perhaps Shuyin's look and voice were the template for the Fayth creation.

Yeah what agent0042 actually sounds about right for both theories.

I would concur but, dresspheres were never created, as Shinra points out, spheres "can be used as a dressphere" but not created to be specific dresspheres or look like specific people.

Agent0042

Sometimes some of the spheres you get can be used as dresspheres, like the sphere from the Besaid Cave, but most of the others you get don't seem to actually have any recordings on them. Anyway, I'd agree that when Leblanc was performing as Yuna, she was dressed as Yuna / songstress. So perhaps when she stole the Garment Grid, she stole the songstress dressphere as well. And then maybe she customized it somehow?

ah, so how did she do it, that's a tiny tiny little plohole right there.

A plothole is when the plot contradicts itself. What you're talking about is just something that's unexplained. Big difference.

A plot hole is a gap in a storyline that goes against the flow of logic set-up by the plot. Plot holes are usually seen as weaknesses and flaws in a story, and writers try to avoid them (except in certain deliberate circumstances) to make their stories seem as realistic and lifelike as possible.

And that little thing with the garment grid does go against the flow of logic in FFX-2.

Veha, E keja ib. Any number of explanations have been offered up and can be offered as to why Leblanc would look like Yuna. But you seem determined to believe that it's a plot hole.

Oh, and just to note --- Wikipedia is a user-submitted site, which means that you yourself theoretically could have posted that definition of a plothole there. And, by the same token, I could in and submit Prak's definition of it and that's what it would say, until somebody else changed it.

Prak
11-05-2005, 02:40 PM
Agent, that actually seems like a decent enough definition to me. It's just that aerithluva69 is misreading it a bit and interpreting "flow of logic" as something other than it really is.

Hm... just one thing.

You know Calli, right? In FFX she was so young, just like Pacce, but in FFX-2 she looks like a teenager, and Pacce's still the same! O__o

Well, I really loved FFX-2(in my opinion, it's much better than FF-X), but this is pretty odd...

You can probably chalk Calli looking older up to puberty.
