We all love the FF series. But what do we feel ashamed of about it? Perhaps we are ashamed of some of the bad graphics in earlier versions, or shoddy storylines in the later series (none of these are my opinions). Post your thoughts on what makes you feel ashamed to be a FF gamer. It does'nt have to be on the games only. It could be that we "overrate" things or something. I'll note now that this is not a thread on what you are ashamed of about playing the games yourself (i.e. don't post things like "I can't complete all the side-quests or something).

I am not ashamed to be an FF gamer. I do agree that FFVII and FFVIII had a few holes and left a few/a lot questions. We do overrate FFVII, although it is a good game. Bad graphics don't do anything to an otherwise good game.

Oh oh oh you just reminded me of sumthing I meant to say in another thread; that graphics DO NOT ALWAYS MATTER. Of course, I dont' mean a game with 4 huge pixels will be great, but still. And if the graphics are great, it adds to the game anyway. But as a "bonus" score, and not to the total score.

Yes we do, but I consider us the true gamers. We take pleasure in the game itself. Not that people who like games for other reasons don't have good reasons to like them, but it doesn't seem so...so real.

I'm ashamed of FFVII and all of its spinoff products - they're absolutley terrible. I'm also ashamed of how horrendous square allowed FFXI to be. They could've done something to control its crappy economy, and they did, only two or three years after release. :/

Nice one, Odin! Mr. WrongPants - usually I don't post my opinions because my threads are usually asking for other's opinions. But, as you asked for it, my opinion is:
I'm ashamed that a lot of the games are mocked; this shouldn't have happened to such great games, and I feel mocked myself. Also that some games could only be played on the SNES for such a long time, and that FFIII hasn't ever been remade for so long, whilst the others have (it's such a great game...).
It's not much of an opinion, but my opinions aren't really valuable to anybody...

Personally iam not ashamed to be a FF gamer just like FF_Fanatic, but the only time i will be ashamed is while playing FFX-2 watching Yuna do some skimpy dance and someone walks in and see's it lol, but apart from that silly comment im not ashamed at all. It's a great series that does not deserve to be abandoned just because you get mocked for it.

So true. In all honesty, I never play Final Fantasy anymore and have kind of grown out of it. When I did play the games I wasn't ashamed to admit I played them.

This really sucks, especially if your on a very low income, and has always stopped me from playing it

I see your point, but however as Prak has stated before. They were doing this to pay the developers who were making the constant upgrades and changes to the game. So they couldnt just not charge you really.

That's a stupid opinion. Why shouldn't you have to keep paying to play it if Square-Enix has to keep paying to keep the game running? Practically any MMORPG worth playing is like that, and for good reason.

i see your point, and despite that fact that i agree, money players pay=money for XI maintenance, i still dont like the fact that they charge for it, or didnt release an offline version for those who couldnt afford to play it online.

That, to me at least, would have been better for both us and square as they'd be able to get to everyone in the potential market.

I thought the graphics on VIII and up were nothing to complain about(VII's graphics wernt bad either). But like people were saying before graphics don't matter.

You all are missing the mark on FFXI. The problem is not that you have to pay. As Prak said, any MMORPG worth playing has a charge (with the exception of Guild Wars). The thing that I am ashamed of is that they called it Final Fantasy XI instead of Final Fantasy Online, like it should have been. Trying to pass off a MMORPG as one of the official installments is just wrong.

Fair enough, although I still think people should leave him alone. On my oppinon (i know I spelt it wrong dont start.) Final Fantasy XII looks kinda weird, just as weird as me (ok....mabye not that weird, but still.) I mean fair enouf making a new final fantasy. I want that, but to change the battle controls and ideas that exsited throught ff history is kinda going against its law, isn't it? I know that people think the battle system was retardish but it was originally the base on all japanese rpg's wasn't it. Maybe not chrono trigger but it was on the same line.

It's called evolution. Games can support a more complicated system now, so they might as well use them. Do you honestly think the original FF games would have used turn-based systems if they didn't have to?
