Just out of interest, how often do you guys draw?

In previous games I would draw all the magic from every monster to all of my characters. But this became time consuming and dangerous.

Is there a set drawing tactic you guys abide to?

I'd be interested to here any.

I tried to refine magic when I could. If you refine lots of magic, then you don't have to draw so much later. Otherwise, I would try to draw a fair amount whenever I gained some levels and thus new magic became available, or if it was a boss that had unusual magic.

Honest draw whenever you need to and always draw when fighting a boss because they have Gf's sometimes, but of course you already know that. The one place you should draw in is Island closet to Heaven and Island closet to Hell you wont regret that. Just make sure you have non encounter on because the monsters there are like level 100 lol.

Same, I usually drew every chance I got right up till the end of disc 2. This gets me a great pack of basic magik for every character. After that it was just refining for me, with alot of mugging items of course.

Also, If you have enc-none on on those islands, they are top places to draw, and the draw points refill fast so it was all good.

Drawing to your heart's content is, simply put, boring. Refinement is more succinct and a lot better on time management, especially if the player's an avid Triple Triad player--arguably the best way to get a hold of rare items/magic at an early point. Drawing boatloads of magic early on to supplement new junctions (HP-J, i.e.) is fine by me, but strictly following the same method on later discs is a red flag that someone needs to branch out a little. ;)

If you don't have items that can be refined to magic, then draw lots of magic from enemies. It's always good to have 100 of each magic. Otherwise, just refine magic if you have the items.

Before I go into the Fire Cave, I generally draw 100 of each type of available magic. All except Esuna. In other words, as much as possible.

Having 100 of each spell also helps when you have magic juncitioned as well it increases your stats.

draw 100 magic for every useful magic (I had a list but i lost it) for 3 charactors. then just use juntion switch to change it between charactors. also make sure you have flare, meteor, tornado and Ultima. these are the 4 best magics (from what i can remember). Ultima can be gotten easly at draw points on the world map (like otheres have said before, make sure you have non-encounter on), shumi village and by refining energy crystals (fight enole in esthar durring the luna cry).

When i first started playing ff8 i had to start all over again, because by the time i got to Adel i realised i shouldn't of neglected drawing magic. Draw whenever you get the opportunity, it makes the game longer and so much more enjoyable

To be honest, I drew only from bosses, other than at the very start of the game, because I always found that alot of the magic you could draw, could be obtained so much earlier by refining, the only time I ever draw later in the game is when I would occasionally give the Islands Closest to heaven and hell a quick run around.

Having 100 Triples, Deaths, Flares, Holys, Ultimas, and Level 3 Elemental Magic really helps. Especially 100 Ultimas in the Elemental Defense Junction Slot. Then put 100 Firagas, Blizzagas, and Thundragas there in the extra Elemental Defense Junction Slots, and you have a character that is impervious to/gains life from all Attack Magic damage. Also 100 Deaths on the Status Attack Junction slot really speeds up battles.

Exactly which is why I refine so much, I go to alot of trouble to get things to refine good magic, and it's great for experience when I do.
