Hi,

I am currently looking for ff8 fmvs, but in high quality (highest)
I already checked laguna's site but it wants you to install DIVX in order to play them.I am already an know member of divx and have used it before but it had some nasty spyware hence i don't want to download it.If anyone can help in giving me a site or something else please reply.

Thanks in advance.

Ian

Well, I got FMVs off blue laguna, and I never had any problems with them; scans have never found anything. But if you really don't want to, try downloading a different media player. I think Apple's Quicktime plays those file types. Do some research.
Also, those bugs may have been in an earlier version or something.

Apple does not either? hmm... maybe i can download a different codec.

1) it's best to rip them yourself. use psmplay. that is the ONLY way to get them in the highest possible quality.

2) you can play divx with ffdshow, which does not come with spyware

Use this neat little app which Sarah referenced but didn't provide a link to.

http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/PSmplay04_0725.zip

With it you can rip whatever you like from the actual game discs if you have the patience to let your computer do the work (this is likely to be a great deal faster than downloading them anyway, depending on your computer).

Yeah, best to rip them yourself, that's how I get good quality FMV's.

Um, I have the PC version of the game and I have a specifically designed utility that allows you to actually rip videos directly from the PC disc. I could do that for you if you like. Assuming the original poster is even still around?

2 posts doesn't seem like a permanent fixture to me Agent0042

Hmm. It was Ian's first post, he had registered about a day before. I think he might be on holiday or something. Hey Agent, can you rip them for me? My computer has to be rebuilt every half month because I find that something makes it crash. I'm rebuilding my computer tomorrow aswell.

PSXMulti (http://members.fortunecity.com/butterflysedge/downloads.html#psxmulti)

You can use this to rip up FMV's from any PSX Videogame. Including FFVIII. It's in Japanese though...

NickG --- would it be all right if I just sent you the utility that rips them from the PC disc? I'll need your e-mail address.

aerithluva69 --- yeah, I think the original person that posted the thread is probably gone.

-It might not matter that much-
Sorry, I don't have the PC disks. If you need them, that is. Although, I have delayed the "destruction" of my computer for a while (not sure how long). Are the files that come out as a result big in size? It wouldn't matter terribly if I couldn't get them; just don't go to too much trouble to get them.

Nick --- they would be fairly large and I'm only on 56K.

Christ I thought I was the only one still on 56k

If you go to Fyiro's garage there IS and English version of PSX multi, I'm assuming it's the same program as the one I have.

EDIT: Yep checked it, there is an English version, go to the homepage. There's a freeware one or the moderately better latest version, and also a plugin called FFX voice which allows you to extract the lines from FFX and X-2, check out the homepage. I'll find the link somewhere.

ANOTHER EDIT: Scratch that, go here http://www.ngemu.com/index.php?action=post&id=1018 it's easier.

Nah, I'm slumming on 56K too, maybe I'll get high-speed sometime when I get a better job...
Well, perhaps not a better job so much as a better-paying job.

We can't even get high-speed here, not even 512k broadband.

Arg. Agent, it's Okay, I'm fine with the other ones you can get off BL. Question about PSX: Are PSX discs "unique" as in there are PSOne discs and PS2 discs/are there PSX discs? I've gathered that they have some "special" thing they do if you stick them in your PC. At first I assumed PSX was PSOne. I thought the PSX was only released in Japan? Anyway, you should get Broadband as soon as possibl, c'est le choise de chef! I dunno what services you can get in the US, but you can get it quite cheap here in l'Anglais (Je suis desol pour les francais terribles).

Uhh, no, there's no difference between a PSX disc and PSOne disc, they're exactly the same.

God damnit! EXACTLY the same? Jese, I got a lotta work to do! Well, at least now I know. Thanks.

EDIT: Darn. Aerithluva - the two downloads won't work. I get an error in Japanese, and when I go to Save Target As... it doesn't work either. The link to the page is fine though. Is there anything you can do to get them to me? It doesn't matter whether it's the freeware or shareware version. PM me!

EDIT AGAIN: Actually don't worry; I found an alternate source.

Fair enough, if you have any trouble related to that program again I'm happy to help.
