It says that you need a level 4 mastered Revive Materia, however if you look closely you'll see that the fourth star is actually somewhat smaller then the other three.

Not true. Sephiroth's sword, The Masamune, blocks ressurection. The characters die, but they can be ressurected.

they're only knocked out in battle. I'm pretty sure the item description for pheonix downs are 'Cures KO' maybe not in ff7 but at least some of the ff games.

There's a difference between game mechanics and the plot drive. This is why Cloud can get shot in the face by an beam gun and live, while Aeris gets stabbed outside of that vein and dies.

Well you know, this method of reviving Aerith is really not true. I have known about this method for 2 years now but I didn't bother to try it. Screenshots were taken and altered and that is all there is to it. On a side note mate, this method is supposed to make your life miserable by making you gather 800,000 or even 1,500,000 AP, and in the end you will probably not revive Aerith :P

I also know how the whole Aerith revival rumor started but I can't be bothered to type it up now :P

I must admit Aeris came in very handy for me in quite a few battles with her healing wind limit break before it got to the stage when she died.

Still her death was an essential event in the story as it was an important part of what happened later on so i personally think the idea of bringing that character back is pretty pointless.

i know you cant revive aeris but i remember hearing a rumor that originally you could get back into midgar before the endof disk 2 (or whenever it is, i forget) and see that guy in the pipe who turns out to be an ancient and then he helps you reive her, thats probably a load of crap but if aeris was never meant to be revived why did they leave holes. i mean like at the end after you defeat jenova all the characters are standing on those floating rocks before you fight sephiroth and theres one empty, also why does she even have limits after level 2, who could be bothered to get her final one before she snuffs it i mena shes not very good as it is, the thing about ffvii is that anyone can use magic and they are all pretty much equally good at it so theres no point in a physically weak character

It's because her limits are actually very nice.

Her lvl 3 limits include full recovery for entire party, and the other is temporari invincibility.

Her lvl 4 is a combi of those 2, and trust me, that can be very handy at times.

Her contribution to the story line was much greater than that of her battle skills.

Which makes him really angry and he is even harder than before.So there is your proof i will try and get you a pic of her against sephiroth

This is laughable, you can`t revive Aeris and you didn`t complete it 196 times.

I've always taken this fairly logical view to rumours that claim any reward after a certain amount of completions on FF7:

Some1 says the've completed it 196 times. Impressive. But how would you? I mean after you complete it you cant save the game can you? So after its done all you can do is reload your save, at which points as far as the game data is concerned you have completed it.....ZERO times as it hasnt been saved.

If this is the case on your glorious 200th victory your playstation will be sitting there thinking *ah game complete at last lets roll these bad boy credits and hope i get turned off before my master falls asleep* but nothing about HOW MANY times it has been done....basically with no game completion counter rolling how would it reward you after X amount of completions?

Well actually, she can be, in the Japanese version of the game. See there is a hidden cave in the Sleeping Forest (it's an area that you see just before you enter the Forgotten City, it looks exaclty like it) There is a cave with a vine on it. In this version you can climb the vine and meet Aeris ghost (In the English version you can only stand at the foot of the vine). Then you go to the guy in the tube in Sector 5. He will remember Aeris and give you a materia. Bring it to Bugenhagen and he will go to the lake where Aeris was buried and cast it. Aeris is revived. Why they would do this in their version is beyond me, because then, how could she summon Lifestream to save the planet if she's alive? Here's what I say. She gets revived, one thing :bye bye planet

Plus Aries was nothing to do with calling the life stream because if you ponder carefully, she went to the forgotten city to ask the Cetra returned to the planet what to do, why else would she be praying, she died because if she found out shed be a huge threat to Sethiroph or whatever. There was countless numbers of cetra before her for example Ifalna, her mother.

This is just a badly started rumour by some poor attention seeker, Aries is not coded in Disk 2 or 3 why only a gameshark or modifier will get her back.

if you've ever been to the FAQs at the square-enix fan zone
you will read that the people of square-enix explain that you cannot revive Aeris.
If the producers of the game say it's impossible then how can a cheap site tell you otherwise?

I must say square is a bitch that they made you choose what you were going to say to Tifa and Aeris.
I became blind and tried that be nice to Aeris and bad to Tifa thingy.

I have used a Shark to put her into the 3rd slot, and you have to use an entirely seperate code to get her out of the main party, because the game treats her as having last been at the Temple of the Ancients (required). This does not happen when you insert other characters using codes.

Also, if you look at the item data, her last weapon is the one from the Temple of the Ancients, the Princess Guard. No ultimate weapon; bad sign for a character in any RPG game, much less FF VII :/ .

From a story perspective...she has to be dead anyway, it's part of the process of casting Holy (in other words, Sephiroth was tricked). She HAS to return to the Lifestream or the spell won't work, that's the whole reason Bugen had you get the Ancient Key, so the party'd see that. Why the hell else would she just run off on her own like that? Bee up her butt or something? She certainly isn't stupid, she could've just asked to have everyone escort her to the Forgotten Capital.

From a game mechanic perspective...Aeris has the ability to use "Peerless." That yellow glow you get whenever she uses Planet Protector or Great Gospel. She can also fill up her buddies' Limit gauges, doubling your Limit Break output. These abilities make fighting Ruby/Emerald/Sephiroth absolute cake (that was rather fun, actually), especially since time freezes between spell and Limit animations. So, it's probably best to leave those abilities in Disc One where you'll be unable to call on them very often and you're starting to get used to the game.
