As far as i know as soon as it hits American shores the emulating community will have a field day. Because as it stands right now, who wants a japanese copy?

according to an article on this site (http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/index5.shtml) from about a year ago, BC may be ported to DS. ("Also attached to the project is Hajime Tahata, who worked on Final Fantasy VII Before Crisis for mobile phones; Before Crisis is currently rumoured to be on its way to the Nintendo DS handheld.") But this news article being written in October last year, it's probably a little out of date.
also aol games/ gamespot think so too (http://games.channel.aol.com/news.adp?articleID=259624&gameID=15308).

as for emulation, i have no idea.

The problem with emulating Before Crisis is that it relies on network stuffs. You have to log in to play, it saves your data on a side server

You can probably still emulate the side server too.

But who will write this emulator? mobile/cell phones aren't as easy to emulate as consoles. to write one you would need tons of information about the device. Unless it's simply java game like some phone games.

as far as i know there is an ngage emulator and ngage play java and symbian games so that may be an option. te emulator is called 'ngagecool!'

Damn. I was hoping you could just go over to Japan, buy a Japanese mobile phone, get the game, then bring it back to whereever and play it. Only problem being.. I can not read Japanese.

Considering the big materia function in the game involves taking pictures of similiar colored objects.... it'd be really had to emulate. The phone's multiple functions are used a LOT in the game so it'd be kinda hard to emulate it....... I'd love it coming to the DS or PSP though.... I wish the PSP so I could just go ahead and get that and be able to play Crisis Core adn Before Crisis

It would make sense to include Before Criss as part of Crisis Core. A USB Camera is pretty much an inevitable add-on for the PSP, and the wireless technology is right there in the form of WiFi - so no slow GPRS waits.

Of course, that means we'll be waiting until 2007. I really hope we hear some announcments about Square-Enix PSP games coming out next year - I don't want to wait 2 years for an awesome PSP RPG.

I wish it was also released on the ngage. What format is the game anyway? It is java? Symbian?

Yeah. ><

I was hoping it'd be released for one of the gameboys or something... but looks like I'll have to front the cash for a new cellphone next year (which I was planning on anyways so it works out)

It probably won't be released on cell phone, I think square-enix would have a better shot on the PSP. Sadly, I don't have one yet, but seeing as it will still be a while until its US release, it gives time to save up money for whatever BC will be released on.

Yeah, Rude666 is right.

Pick up a copy of Pocket Game's (December?) edition and there is an article about FFVII: BC coming to the States next year on cellphones.

I'm totally stoked about Before Crisis coming over. I mean, I've seriously only been into gaming for a little over two months. But I've been needing a new cellphone since before I got the one I have now - it's outdated like whoa.

So if I'm going to get a cool new phone, might as well wait and see which ones will fascilitate Before Crisis and take full advantage of everything my uber expensive phone is going to be able to do.

Square-Enix will wanna expand their horizons on it

I'm pretty certain once phones like the one being used for BC in Japan are standard, it'll be ported to North America, Europe, Australiasia etc because the fanbase would pretty much demand it.
Right now though, I'm uncertain. Isn't it purely for one phone brand? If so, that would cause problems~

Rude666
12-13-2005, 09:44 PM
I would still buy the phone though

true, but it will probably only be on like a few phones, and not many people will have them. as long as it gets emulated, i guess im ok, but the way i see it; if its on a phone, its gunna be a shit, short game, with basic controls and a really weak story line

S-E should realize that Mobile gaming isn't popular here and release the game on a video game console or handheld already.

If square was smart, they totally would. When is it released in japan? At least when it's released somewhere well get some information about the story line. I hope it comes to more than just one brand of phone.

On a side note, didnt KH:CoM come out first on cell phones then get moved to a different console? im not sure though.

They reckon the PSP will recieve Before Crisis if it is released in the West. Quite encouraging for those who care for the title.

so basically theres no emulations what so ever of the game? cause id honestly play it jap version or not... i just wanna play it :/

11-26-2007, 02:02 AM
Well, I guess it depends on what platform the game was written for. I.e. Windows Mobile? Palm OS? Symbian? JAVA? Qualcomm BREW?

Basically, if it's written for JAVA (most games in the market are), you should be able to find a mobile device emulator on Sun's website. Although since the game takes advantage of extra functions like the camera, which is not emulated, you're probably going to get stuck anyway.

On Wikipedia it lists it as coming to America on an unreleased date.

Cell phone emulation is pretty tricky. But if anyone can emulate a phone game on their computer, I'll bet it'll play better than it would on a phone.

Seeing as the game was released one episode at a time in Japan, it would be an excellent idea to port it to the PSP, so that the Playstation Store can finally be put to good use. So far it's really been more of a gimmick than anything else (the PC-Store anyways).

Hope they release it in Europe as well, though.
