I saw region 2 UMD today and I was like - WHY DIDN'T I BUY THE REGION 2 PSP >____< Really, I need it. Because it seems that I can't stop watching it til my eyes burn. Not recently.

Because the Region 2 UMD is Japanese?

It wouldn't have English subtitles.

If you're that desperate, buy a 512 or 1 gb Mem Stick and use PSP Video 9 to transfer your current copy to the psp.

why don't you just wait for the DVD to come out so you won't have this PSP problem.

I love UMDs :D

I can watch movies at uni and on the train (yes, I know that I can just use PSP Video 9, but I can't afford a 1 Gig stick yet).

Not to mention they're cheap, and they make my PSP collection look bigger than it actually is.

personally I'd much rather get a portable dvd player and buy the dvds :-(

do psps even have any sort of tv out if you want to watch them on a regular tv?

Not officially as yet, but a mod-team has made a PSP 'docking station' that supports tv-out.

I don't mind buying DVDs, because i'm pretty sure that Sony is going to release a UMD Player for TVs sometime soon - companies are throwing WAY too much support behind a medium if it's limited only to the PSP's user base.

I don't see how UMDs could claim to be serious competition for home-based media, though. they have less storage than DVDs, and even DVDs don't have enough space for what's coming higher definitions

I'm sure they'll figure out how to get that HD stuff on to UMDs, it is Sony...
